ared's eyes snapped shut as Cassie nearly ran into a brightly colored girl. Two people in one week. Both with his own van. If the adults ever came back, God forbid the police, Jared would most likely be held responsible for the near-hit-and-run of two people. Two! He couldn't think of any video game companies that would hire him then. His life was over. And so was Cassie's. He would kill her the second he got the chance, he swore it to himself. Kill her dead. Another immediate turn and Jared squeezed his eyes shut once more... and felt the pavement.

wingswashereJared opened one eye, then the other. His van was disappearing around a corner down the street, swerving and jerking every now and then to avoid the occasional trashcan or pedestrian. He blinked, telling himself that this had to be a dream, but realized what had happened. Matter phasing, Mack's file had said. He could walk through walls. What then would keep him from flying through a van as his best friend tried to avoid hitting a second person? Oh, he would kill those girls. Cassie and Jessi probably wouldn't notice his disappearance until they needed something from him. He couldn't wait to pull a good one on them, make them think that he could disappear as well as phase through matter. Oh, that would be almost worth getting thrown out of his own van.

wingswashereHe looked around, trying to figure out exactly where he was. Maple Street. Ten blocks from Cassie's place. He spotted Colorful Girl and he waved sheepishly, praying to God that she hadn't noticed his magic trick. He would never be able to do such a good impersonation of Dylan O'Brien for the rest of his miserable life. "Best day of my life," he muttered to himself, trying to find a place to hide. "God, why are You punishing me?"

THE JEWISH NAZI

Karsten gulped. The usual lights that were in a school were burned out and the glass scattered to the floor, the only light coming from the windows that had been broken. Yet still the place seemed clean, in order. The floor was clean, at least as clean as a school's floor could be. It seemed somewhat orderly in the cafeteria, other than Mars latching onto some girls hair and throwing her to the floor. Wait.. what? He snatched some girl's hair and threw her to the floor?

He flinched when the door opened behind up, and spun around to meet the blonde-hair boy. Creep. Mars greeted him nicely. He greeted Karsten.. with a calm, collected voice. And he sounded nice. Mars and nice together? How does that work? They shouldn't even be in the same sentence together. Of course, when the blonde stopped talking, Karsten couldn't keep his mouth shut for once. "I don't care about your brother, he only seemed to creep me out. No worries there." He said sarcastically, a small smile dancing across his lips, but soon faded.

The German boy leaned backward against the wall. "Want to know some things, and I know that you have the answers." A small, one-sided grin creeped in on Karsten's face. Wow. This was just weird. Karsten doesn't smile like that. Actually, he has never smiled like that. His grin disappeared, and focused back to the boy infront of him. "I know something about you, and I suspect you wouldn't want anyone to find out what it is." His voice lowered to a whisper.

Karsten straightened up, raising his chin. It wasn't like he wasn't expecting Mars to pin him to a wall or kill him right there. But why kill him? Karsten knows things. Lots of things that could make the entire Coates Academy go against him. He wondered if he was doing a good thing here, and his face softened ever so much. Karsten wasn't thinking, he was only reacting to the world around him, but with an attitude. Just like the students.

THE SERPENT

A slim teenager brushed back her hair, twisting it ever so slightly to enhance her curls. The light blonde hair dropped down past her hips, thin streaks of washable hot pink hair dye and scarlet weaved throughout. The girl dabbed on a light shade of blush, rubbed translucent pink lip gloss, swiped on nude eyeshadow and slicked on mascara. She left her hair untouched, natural and let it flow behind her as she glided to the other side of the room. She sat down in a plush chair and got out her fountain pen, and gently let it glide across her arm. "I am Hel Lorelei Loptr" was spelled out on her skin. She let the ink dry, and started rubbing it off with soap and warm water, dried off her arm, and smiled at the stained skin on her inner arm. The stain was faint, but it satisfied her for the time being.

Walking over to her body mirror, she took a dry erase pen and wrote down "Loki It" on the glass, along with twelve other "Loki It"'s scattered across it. She shed her skimpy night gown and walked into her small closet, and picked out mini denim shorts with a tear across the outer thigh, and a bright green shirt that only covered her chest and stopped two inches above her belly button. She slipped them on gracefully, pulling her long hair out and over her shoulder. She tied it in a side-ponytail for now, and walked out of that room into a long hall. There were small lights on the ceiling that glowed faintly in the darkness. It was 7:03 in the morning, which only gave her enough time to have breakfast, watch a little TV, did her daily stretches, and care for her four horses by 10:00.

Opening the silver refrigerator, she scanned through the three shelves and located the package of organic eggs and milk. She had taken them out while balancing a pack of cheese on her head. The teenager took out a pan, shoved it on the stove and turned the heat to medium. She let the pan warm up before cracking two eggs and pouring a cup of milk into it as well. After turning on the TV and keeping it dark in the house, she scrambled the eggs and sprinkled some cheese into the pan. After mixing, she finally scooped it onto the plate and plopped down on the couch in the living room with her fork. The home she was living in was fairly large, with two bathroom, two bedroom, a small kitchen and a fairly large living room. Her bedroom was of course, the Master Bedroom with a walk-in closet, a larger bathroom and considerably large bedroom.

Finally after finishing her meal and turning off the television, she started her morning stretches on the soft carpet. "Ahh, yes.." She groaned, finally being able to pop her neck after it being wretched for three days. She didn't spread her legs- she would have enough of that when she exercise her high-strung horse, Noble, for an hour. He ro her three horses weren't so high-strung, Noble's metabolism was high and he needed regular exercise her back popped as she bent backwards over her sofa's armrest, making her let out a forced breath. She stood up bent over, and sighed. She jogged outside, and fed, groomed, and exercised her horses by 11:02 in the morning.

Finally, she had head into town after smoothing down her hair. As she walked, because she lived so close into town, she undid her ponytail and added a quick braid in the front. After a few moments, she quickly undid the braid and whipped her hair back her, leaving only a small chunk lying on her front. She closed her eyes as she leaned against the tree, closing her hands into fists and exhaling deeply. "I will gain another follower," she opened her eyes for them to settle on a very tall, bulky boy with shaggy curly brown hair and a bright blue shirt. "And today's my lucky day." The mysterious teen started walking slower, allowing her hips to move more to the sides and an eyebrow raised. Even her stance was almost hypnotic.

The boy looked over at her, and she quickly acted like an innocent 17 year old, though her clothing style wasn't so.. innocent. "Where are you going?" She cooed, her thick British accent enhancing the effect, cocking her head to the right and looking straight into the curly-haired boy's eyes. She sputtered something about Coates academy and ran off, leaving Hel in a fit of exasperation and rage. She narrowed her eyes. This kid wasn't a student, he was clearly a townie. She heard commotion nearby, saw a teen shoot a bird at a junky van, and to her amaze, saw some guy pass through the same van. The girl in the drivers seat looked young, freaked out, yet confused at the same time. Wait a minute. That guy just passed through a van? Nah, it was just her seeing things..

She ran toward the tall, brown-haired boy. "I saw that, my dear." She said softly, laying her hand on his shoulder.

THE BOY

█████████████████████

The Boy sat, gazing at the coin. It was as if it flipped on its own, twirling between fingers seemingly not attached to him. He continued this for some time; for everybody else, it would seem like forever. But time perceived by the Boy was quite different—an endless loop in which he found days never turned to nights.
Sitting on the carpet, he took in his surroundings. They were unfamiliar, yet distinct. Each doorway with its strange arch, every window cloaked with long velvet curtains. He swallowed, hesitantly—as even thinking about this environment made him go on edge—and focused back on his silver dollar. He did not like this place. It was cold. And the girl who stayed there, constantly watching him, and at particular periods during the day, making him sit at the table to eat, was always curious. He did not like her eyes on him. Watching. But never interfering. Now the Boy looked up at her, his silvery-dark eyes staring directly into hers for the first time.
And then it happened.
Fire burst in a tiny flame, instantly eating away at the papers scattered along the coffee table, burning up the dark ink etched into it. He didn’t even blink a single long lash. He just watched her, seeing the red and blue flames reflect their blooming glow in her eyes. When the fire suddenly died on its own, it left a slip of paper, charred, but its wording still visible. It said, Jess McCotty.
Then, silently, the Boy twitched a smile before returning his attention to his coin.

The coin twisted, rolling over and between Mars’s fingers in a never-ending spiral. Translucent light from above in the cafeteria caught deep within the silver dollar and gleamed. Even though he was concentrated, his eyes flickering over the routes to town, what buildings lay where, and his mind was processing this, the coin never stopped weaving in and out. Until, that was, Amanda sauntered up.
He was completely aware of what was happening. From where he stood, he could feel the young Asian girl seethe with jealousy. After Amanda had parted from him, blushing, he gazed at her as if he were unaffected. He leaned in and whispered quietly, "You're too young to be in on this. Too innocent and I know something about innocence." He grinned, settling back into his charming self, yet his face was left with a bitter smile that he felt was taunting the darkness within. "You can't get it back."
Those words came unexpectedly. His time at St. Claire's came back in a blurry haze and his eyes flashed a moment, as if being doused into a cold bucket of water, a bad nightmare still lingering after awaking. Then he seized a mass of her hair and tossed her away.
After a second, he turned to Drew and raised an eyebrow. "How about you get a leash on your mutts? I'm not that fond of executing lovely faces."He readjusted his rolled up sleeves and turned back to the maps. Then after a second, he glanced at Scarlet. He smirked. "Except you. I think you'd be fun."
The doors flew open and the Scottish boy whirled to see Karsten. His silent features settled into a dawning realization. Then he smiled the slightest bit. “Welcome,” he said. "I’ve kind of been expecting you for a while now.”
Mars turned, giving Drew a look that wasn’t a complete order, but a warning to back off. He pushed past the doors and caught a glimpse of Karsten. “Well. Hello. Apparently we got off on the wrong foot, what with my Brother inside. What can I do for you, Karsten?”

Cassie turned the key and the rickety old van choked, gasped, and then finally sputtered back to life. She sat, feeling the vibration as she waited for Jessi to hop in. When she did, Cassie was again about to pull out when Jared came running along. She sighed, exasperated, and rested her forehead against the honker thingy. That was what she called the horn. After the lanky boy had gotten in, she whirled to smile sarcastically. “All buckled in? C’mon! We. Need. To. Go!” Impatiently she bounced in her seat, anxious to get back to her house. Black Balloon. What was it? Why was it in her head? She knew somehow it had something to do with Mack… and perhaps a very old memory she could only vaguely remember.
The blonde reached over Jessi and Kotka and fumbled in the glove department for a spare camera. She jammed the button and the video tape came on; she positioned it on the dash board, directly staring at her. Its red light switched on. “Hi! If you’re watching this, well,” she frowned. “This is a history lesson. What sort of history… I’m not sure. You see, something strange happened yesterday—” But as she pulled out of the parking lot… Jared went flying.
The Youtuber’s blue eyes went big and wide. Then, in a hysterical choke, she cried, “Alas! … Jared has fallen out of the van.”
As she turned the wheel, not only were more problems arising, but a particular problem. A female problem that gave her the finger. Cassie's mouth went agape; her face flared red and she instantly slammed her fist down on the horn, letting it blare at the girl. "You watch it!" She shouted back. And now, that her adrenaline was pumping, she silently smoldered and glared, watching the girl walk off. It was only after the girl was out of hearing-range that she cried, "Skank!" and waved an angry fist. But it was futile, and quite childish, so she just sullenly sank back in the seat and drove on. Jared would catch up another time.

Hannah-Nora could barely fathom it. Her jaw almost hit the ground as she stared, bugged eyes and all, at Kevin. "Ya knew, mon?!" She cried. Lucy was winding her way up again, so the girl distractedly pushed the reptile back down around her hips. It gave a hiss of dismay. Fury boiled in her face and she was about to go and find a large, sharp piece of glass to gut him open when she stopped. "We ain't married no more, ya big loonie!" She thundered. She turned, jabbing a finger in Quinn's stomach. "I gonna marry Quinn, now! All thanks to your secrets, you... you... you monkey with bad body odor and problems with electricity! I needed da guns so I could blow Drew's face off da planet! But no!" She bent, whirled and scooping up a handful of pennies, angrily chucked them Kevin's way. It was the only thing she could wrap her chubby little hands around.

Her aim was apparently terrible and off, so they clattered to the ground. Then she found a bag of almonds and began tossing them at his forehead, but when they bounced off and smoked, she paused. Curious, she bent down to pick one up; she popped it into her mouth. The girl's eyes lit up with amazement and she giggled, doing a funny little dance. After that, it was all over. "Let's get some hot dogs! Somebody! Find some mustard and jelly beans!" Just as she was going to run for the store across from them -- and from where she stood, there was a big nice chain saw displayed in the glass, so when she was done with her meal, she'd have a nice time demanding he be nice to her and let her in on secrets -- she skittered to a halt, her face distorting into a mixture of colors.

A large wave of feeling overcame her and she gasped. "Id's Mars!" She exclaimed, holding her hands. "Oh my gosh, what de heck is wrong with da guy? I feel like my head might explode into some Popsicles and then danced on by Michael Flatley!" She turned, her big brown eyes looking worried. "My head hurts, Kevon..." she moaned, holding her buzz-cut with both of her cramping hands. "I... I think we should get going. They're planning something." The short child turned to Mia. "Mia, weep for me. My eyes are exhausted by trying to kill him by shooting lasers from my eyes!" She ran a hand across her runny nose and hopped on her skate board.

Wes stood by the doorway, gazing at the older teens as a fight almost broke out. He flinched as Mars shoved the girl away. Then upon seeing Mars's intent on going after the brunette boy, he wet his lips and quickly stumbled away from the door. He glanced at Scarlet, with her pretty red hair and although a rude demeanor, clearly the insight and caring he needed tucked away under deep layers of make up. Wes waddled over, rubbing his forearms self-consciously. His mother had always complained as to why he didn't have any body hair, why he wasn't this, why he wasn't that. Bitterly, he knew his mother compared him and there was nothing he could do about it.

He chewed on the inside of his cheek, every so often gathering the courage to glance at Scarlet's flawless face. "I'm kinda still hungry..." he mumbled, rubbing his stomach. It gurgled and he looked away, flushing. He didn't want anybody to laugh anymore. The Asian girl, Emily, taunted him enough. The short boy shifted uncomfortably and gazed dully at the maps. They were all just lines and numbers to him. He didn't know how to read them. Wes looked up at their tall, dark haired leader. "Drew," he sighed, exasperated, "I'm still really hungry... my mom always fed us at noon. I didn't even eat last night!"

he truth was that Marjorie had seen people start fires with their minds. Only the insane would say that with a straight face. She had actually known the girl on a semi-personal level. That was, before she wound up dead one day. She was a little shocked initially, when the boy set fire to some papers on a desk across the room form him, but it faded into amusement. She eyed the paper, picking it up, and crossed the room to the boy. She sat down in front of him, crossing her legs like his. She nodded, though he was focused on the coin once again. "He's not here," she said, "Not right now, at least. He'll be here soon, I imagine. Very, very soon."

wingswashereShe sat there, watching the coin, watching it flip over each knuckle and then repeating. Over and over the coin flipped. And she sat there, just watching. Seconds, hours, years... she didn't know how much time passed. How oblivious and uncaring this boy was to his surroundings --- to the world, to time --- Marjorie envied.

wingswashereShe heard her voice before she realized she had opened her mouth to speak. She knew it was her voice, but it seemed so detached from herself, so childlike and weak. Scared. Desperate. "I wasn't always like this you know," she whispered. "I was nice once. Happy. There were people I loved that actually loved me back. I had a best friend, but he was killed a long, long time ago." She laughed bitterly at herself, still watching that coin. She was talking to an autistic boy who probably had no idea that she existed. She choked on the sob caught in her throat, on the tears running down her cheeks. So salty they could be blood. "Love is weird," she whispered. "You fall in love. He becomes someone else entirely. If you let go soon enough, he falls alone. If you hold on..." Marjorie covered her mouth, her voice becoming so tight on the tears. "If you hold on, try to bring him back, all you do is fall just as hard as he does."

wingswashereShe wiped at her eyes angrily, still watching that coin. Her eyes rose to the boy's obscured eyes. She didn't understand her actions at first. She actually had no idea she was reaching her hand out to the boy until she saw her hand moving towards him. A single trembling finger touched the long hair covering his eyes. Fear was coursing through her as if he would burst to flame. And then nothing. Her hand was on him and nothing happened. Relief rushed through her like a flood. What had she been expecting? To burn to death? To find that her entire life since she met for that insane boy was nothing but a bad dream?

wingswashereMarjorie leaned back, her eyes catching her reflection in a mirror behind the boy. Dark, like a crow. Paired with those like her, that made a murder of crows. Her eyes locked with those in the mirror. And then she saw it. A flash of image, like a memory but it felt so real. Drew, fourteen year old Drew, was looking back at her. They were in a train yard. She was scared, she was being followed. But once she saw Drew, she knew it would be okay. And then Drew raised his hand, someone behind her screamed. That was it. She was crying, being held by Drew. That was it. She was safe.

wingswashereThe boy was staring at her now. The faintest of smiles was on his lips. Accusing. Marjorie stood, getting as far away from the boy as she could. She was shaking. She felt like she was going to throw up. She sat huddled in the corner, crying. The boy was still staring. He knew. He knew exactly what she saw. And so did she. "What did you do to me?" But she knew. It wasn't just like a memory, it was a memory. Her memory. That day at the train yard, she knew what she was doing that day. She had planned it. She would lead that man there, where Drew would be waiting for her. He would kill him. Drew would kill that man for her. The boy turned away then, once again focused on the silver dollar. She knew what that boy did to her. "Stop it," she begged. "Please, just stop it."

amanda shivered at his remark, the remark he whispered in her ear. "what do you know, mars?" she muttered, shoving past him to walk by drew. she shoved into him purposefully. "watch your back, drew." she growled, then turned back to him. "I know your little game, drew. you want to be king, i know what you want. and i also... don't think it's... good for you. you aren't fit to rule, drew." she suddenly blurt out. "you should actually think about someone else... for once. you need to stop being so selfish." she knew he'd be upset, and that he would probably yell at her. she.. did she really want to admit it to herself? she liked him. she really really liked him. she didn't even know what she had kissed mars for. she hated that she did it. had she done it to impress drew? no, not to impress him. to make him jealous. she wanted him to like her back. she wanted to be happy, to be with him. she was starting to care about him, to really like him. what was wrong with her? she stood back, looking up at the tall boy in front of her.

I nearly lost it, first of all I nearly get creamed by some bimbo who can’t drive and next thing I know as that van veers away a guy just tumbles out of the side of it. Literally, falling through the metal walls of the van like they didn’t even exists. For a moment I was frozen to the spot in shock, and almost awe but soon I regained my sense and flipped another bird after the retreating van.
Now, the first thing I noticed was obviously that this guy had just fallen through a wall, like some kind of ghost. The second thing I noticed? He was hot. Not that that in any way affected the current anger that was boiling through my veins. Scowling I stormed towards him, noticing another girl quickly dart towards him. I heard a soft British accent and saw her lay her hand on his shoulder and stare at him, almost like she was trying to hypnotize him.
I didn’t care what she was doing or what she had to say to him to be quite frank. “Hey you!” I snapped, shouldering the British girl out of my way and kicking the guy back to the ground. It wasn’t like I just rifled him in the face with my shoes; it was more of a shove. I merely placed one of my black converse on his shoulder and pushed him back to the pavement as he was picking himself up. “Who do you think you are!? You got what, four people in that van and not one of you morons can see a girl with neon green hair?”
By now I was standing with a scowl on my face, hands on my hips, and raging blue-green eyes focused on the boy. Mrs. Britain behind me would have to wait for whatever it was that she wanted because I was not done with this kid, not by a long shot. “Now, I just saw you little magic trick there, Ghost, and I want answers. I want to know what’s going on, why kids are sprouting powers, who knows about this, what’s going on with the Coates kids, and most importantly. Who need to be brought to justice, because it’s been two days and already the situation is deplorable.”
I finished my long winded tirade with a glare to Mrs. Britain. “Go find something to do. This one is mine.” It wasn’t as though I was staking claims on this guy in terms of ‘this-is-my-sexy-guy-get-your-own’ but more so in the ‘this-is-my-sexy-guy-that-I-have-to-drill-for-answers-and-I-don’t-want-you-here’ kind of way. If that made any sense. Besides, I had the feeling if she stuck around for much longer she would just get catty anyways, plus I didn’t like the way she almost seemed to be trying to manipulate him with her voice. “Go on then, scat.” I made a shooing motion with my left hand and turned my focus back to the boy.

Jessi lifted her head to look at the girl flipping them off. So strange. Green and black hair. Way too much eye makeup. She once knew somebody who wore too much eye makeup. Everybody thought she was a prostitute. "Do you see all that metal sticking out of her face? She does not look well man. Looks like she got in a car wr" She said, shrugging it off. And that is when she had only caught a glimpse of his disappearance, but it alarmed her enough to whirl around in her seat and look to see where her friend had been. "Jared!" She cried, jumping from her seat and rushing into the empty back of the van. Her friend was nowhere to be found. Had he poofed too like the adults? No. Jared's birthday wasn't that soon. She had never been so frantic in her life. Jared was important too. Not just Cassie.

While the van was still moving, she unbolted the back of the van, letting the doors fly open. "Jared!" She screamed, seeing him sitting in the dirt with two girls around him. She could have pulled her hair out, but instead she called after him, "We'll catch up with you later!" And then she closed the doors. Jessi went back to her seat though not caring to buckle back in. "So, um," She said as the van was getting farther out of town. She eyed Cassie nervously and swallowed down. "What exactly do these papers say?" She asked, reaching over and taking it. She already knew but flipped through the pages mindlessly, hoping that it didn't say anything ... important. But the sentences that did catch her eye were something she could not afford to let her friend see. As soon as Lukeria joined, as protection for C, she has still not received any news on Black Balloon. Mission is thought to be failure, unless C confesses. C is still unaware of project. Lukeria must keep C alive for the next few months, or project will be officially considered failure and abandoned. There will be no help for Lukeria if C cannot comply.
Jessi swallowed hard and glanced up at Cassie. She looked back down, now flipping through a paper that had been stuffed inside her pocket this entire time. Lukeria and team request immediate evacuation back to base. Mission failed. C is no longer capable of providing information.
Request denied. Complete mission and report back to base.
Jessi crumpled the letter back in her pocket, looking straight ahead on the road. "Why ..." She started then caught a grip on herself. "Why are we going back to your place?"

He did not react in a way the girl would like, but he did send a testing look as Mars harshly grabbed Amanda by the hair and tossed her. His eyes were ablaze, his mouth barely twitching into an anticipating grin. He didn't make an utterance, just observed without entering the stroking brawl.

Drew was not apprehensive toward the menace. He knew Mars would lay a hand on any of them unless Drew gave a strict order and if his henchman did so without an order, much vehemence would come to the Scottish boy. He stood there, watching with his dark eyes scanning the action about, ignoring the kid who seemed too boastful with his place. The dark haired boy sneered, cocking his refined eyebrows at his henchman as he passed, walking after the townie out of the Academy. "You best know what you are doing, Marsden." Drew said callously, letting his pungent words gush over the boy as he left the scene.

"Girls," Drew commanded, ignoring amanda's words and snapping his fingers as he gazed off into the midst of the room. "Do something useful with yourselves." Without another word, he shoved past everybody in the cafeteria and pushed past the doors that lead him into the hall. His room wasn't far away, only a little ways of a walk until he came across the golden letters printed on the clean black painted door. Henderson He opened the door, walked inside, and closed it tightly behind him. The room was large, the size of a normal bedroom but slightly smaller. Dull colored walls with a bed on one side of the room. There was a nightstand with junk resting on top of it and a few other items collecting dust in the room. In the closets, there were his coates outfits that were always looking the same. Tacky with a very bad taste in color. And in the other, some personal items of his own.

Drew wandered over to his closet, ripping off his red and gold striped tie, throwing it on the bed. He then slid off his sharp black jacket and unbuttoned his white shirt underneath. He rested the two pieces of clothing on hangers in the closet, leaving his chest bare. He plopped down on the bed, leaned over and rested his head in his hands. The weight of the world was definitely resting on his shoulders. Or at least it felt like it. He snorted a soft laugh at himself for being so small minded, shaking his head loosely.

THE SERPENT

Hel stepped infront of him. She waved her hand through his shoulder, then his chest, and every other part of his body. It went right through him! "What the hell?!" She exclaimed, clenching her fist in the area of his neck. She hesitantly removed her hand, stood straight, closed her eyes and sighed angrily. She raised her head to look down at him, she then shot her eyes over to Ms. Neon.

"I suppose we both want answers. But I doubt scaring him into a heap of tears and blood will help any." She let off the 'Lets work together' groove, giving her a slight smirk. She stepped infront of the boy, holding out her hands somehow to block him from from walking forward, quickly realizing that he'd just walk through her. She bit her lip. Never was she so excited in helping a guy that can't help her. She took a last glance at Ms. Neon, then at the terrified boy, and saw them both useless. Hel rolled her eyes and started off towards town.

The seducing teen slightly sped up her pace, almost cracking a smile when she rubbed over her wrist tattoo. Ah yes, LOKI, the one that was supposedly her role model. She started thinking about the meaning of her name when she looked it up. Hel- goddess of the underworld, then Lorelei, something else that she couldn't remember. Hopefully something evil.. she thought! sighing happily while gazing toward town. She immediately recognized the scarlet puddle in the middle of the road. A large grin cracked through her innocent face, but hid it before anything would notice. She teared up, suddenly acting like a devastated child that had just flushed her dead goldfish down the toilet. A small, salty tear threatened to break through, but she wasn't going to let that happen. She wasn't that saddened. She flicked it out, just barely being able to rescue her thinned mascara.

Her big eyes searched the crowd, that appeared to have thinned out sines the van had exited with the small group. She walked over to the puddle of crimson red, saw her reflection and the blinding sun above her. She wondered why she was in town. Why, anyways? Shouldn't she be at Coates, trying to take over? Step up the ladder above Mars? No. That wasn't her goal. Her goal was to gain followers, an army, and take over Coates. Yes.. just the thought made her smile. Her perfect lips opened, and a gust of air blew out of her mouth, disturbing the still puddle of blood in the road. She looked up and saw clunky boot prints, and curiously followed them. They led her to a place behind a store, with kicked up dirt and clumps of blood around it. "They must've dragged him here.." She said quietly, retracing her steps back into town.

"I wonder who else is here." She asked herself, and eyebrow raised and her head cocked slightly to the left as she gazed into the crowd.

My skin was crawling, and by now my fingers were thrumming restlessly against my thighs. So many people, too many people. No. I couldn’t do this. I wanted out of here. I wanted to go lock myself in my room and hide from the world, get away from all these strange people and calm myself down again. I wanted to lose myself in my video game realities and my movies and music. Spend my life eating junk food and pretending the rest of the world didn’t exists, because I didn’t know how to cope with it. My breathing was rapid and shallow, my eyes darted about nervously and my mouth had gone dry.
Even the angry, tantrum throwing Hannah-Nora barely had my attention at this point. But she was angry and her shrill voice split the air, accusing and harsh. Then she was throwing things at me, pennies, or something metal. I was dimly aware of them clattering to the ground, and also vaguely pleased they hadn’t hit me. Could I do chain reaction electricity? I didn’t think so. I couldn’t conduct through air, it wasn’t conductive. Neither was stone. But I didn’t know how this worked. I could barely function as it was, I didn’t even know how to stay calm in a group of more than four people, how was I supposed to figure out how a freakin’ super power worked?
The next object hit me square in the forehead. An almond that made a popping sound and fell to the ground, smoking. An almond that Hannah-Nora popped into her mouth but made me jerk my head back sharply. Not good. My head slammed into the wall behind me and I felt the surge of electricity dart though my body and into the copper wiring of the walls. For a moment every light in the store flickered to life brightly before the overcharge caused every bulb to exploded and send shards of glass raining to the floor.
It all had happened so fast. Not even a minute. My head was throbbing and a faint burning smell had filled the air. A faint warm trickled ran down the side of my cheek, catching in the corner of my mouth. Hesitantly I flicked the tip of my tongue out, tasting it. Blood. I raised my left hand slowly to the wound. It was a small cut maybe an inch long running along the cheekbone under my left eye. Where had it come from? Falling glass? That had to be the answer, but if I was hurt, what about everyone else. “Dammit,” I whispered under my breath. “I-I should go.”
With those words hanging in the silent air I pushed through everyone to the door, avoiding touching everyone and listening to the sound of glass breaking under my shoes. I didn’t go far. Just outside, to the side of the building. But once there, I slumped to the ground, lowering my head into my hands. I could’ve killed them. It’s just glass, but if somebody had touched me, a charge like that would have stopped their heart. I can’t even get this power under control. God, what’s happening to me?
I stayed in that position for a few minutes before my senses started to come back to me and I began to clam down again. Had I really just run out on a little kid whose powers were overwhelming her as well? What was wrong with me? I clearly wasn’t the only one struggling with this. Whatever had her freaking out needed to be settled first. My problems were unimportant, trivial even. My crippling social anxiety was probably going to be the death of me, but for now I’d just have to deal with it as best as I could. So with a heavy sigh I unravelled my fingers from my long and now extraordinarily messy black hair and forced myself to my feet.
I didn’t have to go back inside again. Hannah-Nora was already on the pavement rolling away with her skateboard and I grabbed my own from where it was propped against the wall and pushed after her. “Wait up! Where are we going?” With my long legs I easily caught up to her, but now curiosity was digging at me. What exactly was she thinking, what could we do?

"I'll see you at your place but I have to do something important right now, okay?" It was quite strange for her and she would have never done it on another occasion but this just so happened to be imperative. She unlocked her door and jumped out though the van was going less than ten miles per hour since Cassie seemed to be distracted. As she brushed the mud and grime from her military pants she looked back at the moving van. In a full jog, Jessi started up a path until it leaded to someplace she had been before.
A while later after she was huffing the slightest, even though she jogged every morning, she came across a house that looked not too well in shape. She knew he would be here. Or at least one of them. In a striding walk, she approached the front door slowly, her side against it. She tried the doorknob but once it didn't budge, she let it fly open with the weight of muscle she hit it with. "Adam?" Yes, she had noticed the murmured whisper of his name he had replied with earlier that day. "Я схожу по тебе с ума ..." She murmured under her breath, searching around the place, looking for the tall dark boy. "Hello?" She called, now resting her right hand on her 9.mm at her side from the darkness of the house. She had dealt with situations such as these before and she wasn't interesting in taking serious chances.

Jessi moved slowly into a different room, though her gun was still in the holster. And then, on the bed, she spotted a body. She moved closer suddenly, worried if he were dead or not. "Adam?" She hissed, searching any signs for life. But then a soft, silent snore erupted from him. "Great." Jessi grumbled, settling on the edge of the bed. Something caught her dark eyes though. Resting on a nightstand beside the bed was a glass of water. Perfect. She reached over and sitting up and a few feet away, she drizzled it down his dark hair and all the way down his back. An amused snicker felt it's way coming along with the cruel smirk that was already being placed on her features. "Простите, что я вас побеспокоил."
