99th hunger games ; open

Due to the previous rebellion, after Katniss had passed on, the Capitol decided to once again punish the twelve districts of Panem by forcing twenty-four children ages eleven to seventeen into the Hunger Games. Since the rebellion, the Hunger Games have been brutal as ever. Game Makers show no mercy, and nobody has been able to use suicide to maneuver their way into two people winning the Hunger Games ever again. You're forced once again to believe you have no hope; you either develop a plan and kill, or you are killed. No questions asked. While you may have love and mercy in your heart, as far as you know, your enemies feel nothing at all, and wouldn't be afraid to kill you, so don't be afraid to kill them.

Your priorities are as simple as this;

Please the crowd. Strengthen your abilities. Don't make enemies. Once in the arena, find food. Find water. Get sponsors. Please your sponsors. Don't be afraid to kill. And most importantly, don't get killed yourself.

These will not be simple tasks, but done correctly, you could be the next victor.

Happy Hunger Games.

District 1's industry is making luxury items for the Capitol. Due to the nature of its industry, it's considered to be the wealthiest district, the only other wealthier area being the Capitol itself. It is a Career District.

District 2's industry is masonry, but also manufactures weaponry, makes trains, and supplies Peacekeepers. The main military complex in the district is known as the Nut. Citizens of District 2 are sometimes called "the pets" of the Capitol. They are the biggest supporters of the Capitol and therefore are pampered and given many extra conveniences.

District 11's industry is agriculture - orchards and fields of grain and cotton surround the district. Almost everything grown is shipped directly to the Capitol. It is one of the poorest districts in Panem, second only to District 12. In addition, it is also one of the districts where the Peacekeepers are the strictest. Ironically, this directly results in its residents generally being malnourished and underfed despite its focus on agriculture.

District 12's industry is coal. District 12 is located somewhere near what was the Appalachian mountains. The district has the distinction of being one of the poorest districts, if not the outright poorest, in all of Panem. District 12 is the laughing stock of Panem.

I'd prefer if everyone played two characters; one to kill off, one they want to live. I don't want all characters killed off in the beginning, alright? You'll PM me or post in the form which character you want to die and I'll decide when they do die. I will keep reservations for only two days, and I expect AT LEAST a WIP up by then. If you have a WIP up, I'll give you an extra day and a half. Don't have both of your characters be from the same districts, and I'd prefer if everyone had one girl and one boy, since it's even. The tributes positions are rather self-explainitory, but the mentors, sponsors and stylists may not be, so let me explain.

For stylists, I'd prefer if these positions were taken up before we start, at least for the taken tributes in the districts. You may play the stylist of your characer or the one in their district. Remember; males get a female stylist and females get a male stylist. If all else fails, I'll just play the stylists myself, even if it's a hassle for all the districts. They need a form.

For Mentors, you are what is going to let your character/the characters in your district survive. It is on them, but it is also on you. They'll be important in the beginning, helping give characters advice, and also teaching them how to fight and making strategies. BUT, they'll be even more important during the games. I expect posts from them every once in a while, especially when their tribute is in trouble. I expect them to put forth an effort any way they can to get sponsors. I will add sponsors only if I feel effort is being put forth.

As for the sponsors, they do NOT need a form, but let me explain them. If I see your character making an effort to be well-liked, and doing good in the ring, I will add a random name of a sponsor to your district. Not all characters will be people-pleasers, so not all districts will have sponsors. Take note of that, please. I don't want everyone to be a people pleaser. Whoever plays the mentor also needs to put forth an effort to gain sponsors. If the mentor is also doing good, I'll add more sponsors. Only if you have sponsors will gifts be delivered to you. I ALSO decide the gifts a sponsor gets. Keep note of my posts so you can see whether or not your tribute has gotten a gift from sponsors.

You AND your tributes AND mentors all have to put forth effort here if you want your character to survive. If I see you not putting forth effort or remaining active I probably will kill off your characters. You can have only two tribute characters, but you can have as many stylists or mentors as you want.

You WILL be making your own forms for this. They must include;
Name
Age
Gender
District
Appearance
Skills
Brief Personality

Image

Site rules apply, of course.

I expect you to be quite literate. A few paragraphs a post. I also expect your posts to be SOMEWHAT pretty. Remember to tag the characters you interact with in your post. IF you're in a rush/on your phone, you MAY have not pretty posts, but I will not tolerate this frequently.

Image

I understand hunger games aren't the most realistic, but still. At least ONE of your tributes isn't going to survive the whole thing and the other isn't going to get out without a scratch. You're going to suffer, get hurt, etc. Yeah?

Image

Sexual scenes etc. aren't allowed while in the arena. There'd be cameras! Ew. If somehow our tributes escape or whatever, then yeah, I guess, but nothing explicit, okay? Not past making out. Remember to fade to black. I don't really think any characters will be pregnant or whatever, but I guess you can do it if you really must or use it as a ploy to get sponsors. Also, don't be too gorey. I know injuries happen, but don't be overly descriptive.

Image

This is not a romance RP. Contrary to popular belief, romance isn't the priority of someone fighting in the death in an arena. Their priority is SURVIVAL. They want to make it home, not fall in love. That isn't what this is about. Friendship bonds may be formed more often than romantic ones. I'm not saying romance isn't allowed, it just shouldn't be your character's priority.

the arena ;; WIP

Postby white deer » Mon Dec 02, 2013 8:06 am

Image

The arena is as it never has been before. In the center of the arena, there is the cornucopia, as always. Surrounding the cornucopia is what appears to be a run-down city, it's almost post-apocalyptic. On the outsides of the city, there's forests, but the city lasts for miles so the forests aren't easy to reach. It's easy to hide away in; there's twists and turns which you can easily hide in, but there's also the fact that the city is very run down. You must tread lightly on the buildings. It is risky to try to go onto the higher floors, as most of them are prone to collapsing under even very little weight. In the buildings, there may be tools for survival, such as running water, but it isn't always likely to find those sorts of things. Even though nobody has ever been in the city besides the tributes themselves, it appears like people had lived here and vanished suddenly, and the whole place went to ruin. There is rare that a building is completely in tact, but quite often if it is, the inside is surrounded with traps and other things to kill tributes. The buildings are also not decent shelter, at least not very often. The weather is always changing, sometimes with powerful winds that are enough to knock the buildings down. There's also the forests surrounding the city, they're up on high grounds, so they're hard to reach without climbing, and most tributes will probably have to walk for days through the city to even reach the higher grounds at all. The gamemakers have obviously put the city in such low grounds for a reason; eventually, they plan to flood it. In the forests above, there's many dangers of animals, plants and other things, but there's also fresh water streams and trees that are large and easy to hide in, but also easily catch fire. The game makers will be merciless in the arena, so you must keep moving to survive.

Image

The game makers have been rather generous this year with the food and weaponry... but perhaps that isn't a good thing. It means the arena must be more brutal than years before.

4 Daggers
2 Axes
2 Sets of bows and arrows, 12 arrows per set.
1 Trident
2 Swords
5 Throwing knives

12 Slices of bread
2 Bags of apples, about six apples in each.
2 Bags of Potatoes, about seven each.
4 boxes of crackers, about twenty crackers each, but they're small.
3 Packs of jerkey, about four pieces in each one, they're fairly long strips .
2 canisters of fresh water
