"I am Vintello." I said towards the girl named Alair. My nose wrinkled a bit. She smelled unusual to me but I could not quite figure out what exactly, she smelled like. Some kind of wild animal, I think. She seemed friendly enough, the way she was grinning and waving back so excitedly. She seemed a bit awkward, in my opinion, but I would never say such things aloud. It was not gentleman-like in the least bit. "But everyone prefers to call me Vinnie."

Raine snorted, "I don't know who 'everyone' is considering you spend most of your days locked up in your house."

I rubbed the back of my neck, "Yeah. That is my sister, Raine."

"I find it ironic, now." Raine said simply, "My name. Considering, you know, the condition of things now." Raine could talk about herself all day if she wanted to. That is just how she is. All about her, rarely about anyone else. If she does happen to show a nice gesture towards you? Consider yourself lucky. She is rarely nice to me, her own brother.

"So I guess you can just follow me then. I will show you where I live." I said. My sister often made fun of me because I rarely, if never, use contractions. I am very formal, very dignified, when I speak. Mainly because I still have not gotten used to this whole 'New English' system. I am still used to using formal language, large words that people rarely use anymore. My formal language makes some people find me to be stiff and boring while others find it polite and intelligent. I normally do not care what people think of me. I am who I am. Nothing can change that. "Raine? Are you accompanying us?"

Raine tossed her lavender hair over her shoulder, "No thanks brother. I want to go exploring. I haven't shifted in awhile. I think it'd be fun to go hunting." Her eyes gleamed and a small chill ran down my spine. My sister, well. She could be scarier than me; and I was the one who actually needed blood.

I turned around and started walking back towards my home. "So." I said awkwardly, trying to start a friendly conversation with Alair. Her red hair was distracting yet was also a bit enticing. Reminding me of the drink I was forced to consume in order to survive. "What is your story?"

◇Feeling◞ nothing ◇Where◞ outside ◇Species◞ Shapeshifter

I watched my brother leave with the stranger. He was too kind for his own good. For all he knew, she could be a werewolf. Eager to tear into the flesh of a vampire. Or a siren, ready to sing her song and pounce. Either way, it would be his own fault if he died. If he did die I would do everything in my power to not feel a thing. Emotions only get in the way and make things more difficult to do. It was better if I did not get attached. But you can bet I will most definitely track down his killer and do unto them what they would do unto others.

Right as I turned around, I managed to spot a girl falling. A beautiful thing with dark hair and dark eyes. Her bag was falling, spilling forward, and it was like I was watching her in slow motion. I knew immediately I would not have enough time to catch her and I immediately scolded myself at the thought; since when did I care about catching someone? But it was what started to fall out of the bag that caught my attention.

            A stuffed penguin.

In a mere matter of moments I had the penguin in my hand and I was standing over the girl, staring at the penguin. A rush of emotions flooded through me when looking at it. I had one like this as a girl. When I was innocent and naive. When emotions ruled me. I stared at it before realizing the girl was looking at it too. I stuck my hand out, the one not holding the penguin, to help her up. My face was a mask, not revealing anything but my normal calculating glare. "Penguin, eh? Cute." I said, trying to act incredibly nonchalant and a bit sarcastic. "I can turn into one of those." I stated, "You alright? Didn't break an ankle or anything?"

Vintello. It suited him, to say the least, which actually made her wonder-did all vampires have classy names? She didn't know, this was the first time actually talking to one. She nodded at his nickname, chuckling. "Okay, then, Vinnie it is." She couldn't help the slight laugh, before she blushed, hoping she didn't sound rude. "Sorry. I was just a little amused at how it sounded like Winnie. You know, Winnie the Pooh." She said, hoping he didn't find her too weird. A lot of people found her weird, but this was important. She hadn't been under an actual roof in ages. Sure, she could sleep in the forest, and have everything she needed in a forest, but there was something nostalgic about a house.

Paying attention to the sharp comments of his sister, Alair turned, watching the shapeshifter. And listening in. It would be rude to interrupt, after all. Feeling just a bit more relaxed as she slowly got herself used to the mysterious scent, she cocked her head at Raine, before she got the referance, but she didn't really get why it was ironic. Never mind. Deciding not to ask, she simply nodded, smiling happily. "Okay." She said, not really knowing what the formal response was since he was being so formal. Which made her wonder how old he was. Was he actually the age he looked like, or... It creeped her out that he might just be a really, really old man.

At Raine's words, she shot a glance to the girl, finally understanding. Shapeshifter. Not werecreature. If she was a were, she wouldn't have been able to shift at will, and Alair herself usually found herself making preparations before she shifted. It was a bit of an affair she looked forward to, yet dreaded. It was about two nights away, the next full moon, ans already she could find her blood starting to writhe in nervous anticipation when she thought about it, more pronounced when the shifter mentioned hunting. The creature in her stirred, baying in anticipation within her being. But she could stand it. It was nothing compared to minutes before the change.

As Vintello spoke, distracting her from her thoughts, Alair looked up, momentarily frowning, before she understood. No point hiding, he probably knew what she was anyway. "Do you want the long story or the shortened version?" She asked teasingly. "Because if I am telling you everything you'd best show me your house first and get me some water. But the short story generally is: I wandered here at 15, I don't know why, but I haven't really moved away since. After all, there's no need to." She said with a general shrug.
Mostly just on rps now. XD

    ❖ J. BRAND

His brow furrowed in a variety of lines and his heart beating steadily (was it his? was this what his heart was beating for? if not, then what was he before, nothing, he had decided, whoever was in front of him, though, they were something, they were something), the demon expressed three quarters of his surprise, his eyes momentarily fluttering from the male's features to the sky as not to alarm. He was still angry; however, it was a placid sort of anger now that he had systematically evicted a demon from its host, a lion sleeping yet ready, frost that shouldn't have been lightly dusting its head. "Sorry, don't have a house myself," he breathed, although for a night he could easily take someone else's body. He didn't want to; too tedious an ordeal, and there would only be salt. "You just looking for a roof over your head, or...?" he asked, his arms only twitching by his side as he instinctively attempted to fold them. "I think I know about a shelter somewhere around here that'll probably let you in." The pain was a communicable disease, except for the communication was death; it tugged at him until he turned into a carrier that still seemed rabid. This kid was still outside and asking around for shelter. Did he not have any longstanding friends with homes? Whoever the hell poured salt on J's arm would pay; he was about ready to snap a building in half if he could only move his hand. As it was, he was too docile, too ready to address these people as equals; the true body of him, of a demon, if he was really that angry; he could keep this guy from moving in a second, observe his every secret, his species, his inclinations, his temptations - but he was freely choosing not to. The throbbing pain in his arms was, ostensibly, the reason why. "You feeling alright, kid?" J asked, interpreting something in his gaze as nervousness or worry - it was logical to assume that he had seen the exorcism incident from seconds earlier. If worst came to worst before the rain started, he had plenty of ways to defend himself, one of which included someone dead or possession. It was a minute ephipany that crashed upon him, however, when he came upon a brief realization.
He cared, even if only the slightest bit, about this twenty-something year old's predicament.
He was extraordinarily frightened by that, but he managed to keep his mouth from curling into a frown.

    ✿ SAFFRON
She had come across a moment where she couldn't say anything, and in some ways it was preferable to speaking, because she didn't want to taint this...this shapeshifter? Yes, this shapeshifter. Reaching for the stuffed bird with one hand and accepting the offer of help with another, she hoisted herself upwards, smiling brightly at the girl in front of her. "Thank you," she breathed, hoping the words wouldn't have any real significance. She could stand perfectly fine; her knees were the only things that were bothering her, it turned out. She was both grateful for the stranger's hand and keenly aware of the danger she posed to her, and the conflicting sides battled to determine whether or not she would really continue on her way now.

╔═══════════════════════╗
Alexander
╚═══════════════════════╝

Alex stood expectantly as he waited for a response from the man he'd approached. This stranger appeared to be stressed, aggravated for whatever reason, but although he didn't look like he was in the mood to talk, he replied anyway. Alex couldn't help but sigh deeply when the man informed him that he didn't have a residence himself, ending in the slightest pout. He was going to be stuck out in the rain; that was all there was to it. He'd be alright; that was of no concern to him. It was others that he worried for.

He gave a quick shrug of his shoulders and exchanged the pout for a weak, understanding smile. "It's alright. I'll manage." The man proceeded to suggest a shelter, which Alex would have considered if he had only thought of it. He hadn't seen any around town, likely because it never crossed his mind that a place that had been dominated by demons and monsters would offer services such as free shelters. It wasn't a half-bad idea, though, and he decided that it would be worth at least looking.

He was just about to thank him and take his leave when the stranger spoke up again. He anxiously tugged on the bottom of his hoodie, a nervous habit he desperately needed to break because it just gave everything away when he tried to lie far too quickly. "Huh? Uh, me? What, no? I'm fine. Are you okay?" He tended to ramble a little when he was nervous, but the last question was genuine. The man seemed to be tense, rigid, as though in pain. One of his arms to seemed to be having trouble moving as well, so he assumed the man's pain likely derived somewhere from that.

His head turned sharply to the right just as his throat was suddenly latched onto. It was so sudden, unexpected; he'd heard the faint voices and footsteps a while back, but he assumed that it was nothing more than more passerby. He never would have guessed that one of them was out to kill him. Although, it was logical to assume this as he'd never seen this man before in his life and he'd have no reason to want to kill Alex.

Instinctively, he tilted his head back and cough just slightly to move out of the choke-hold the best he could. The way the dark-haired had a hold of his neck, if the abrasive stranger was strong enough (and he likely was, judging by his build), his neck would be snapped before he could shift. If he could be civil and not become violent with the stranger, perhaps it would all end well; unless this man was totally and absolutely mad; then he didn't see much of a positive outcome.

"Yes." His voice was softer; a higher volume could be attainable if his throat wasn't being constricted. "Or I, I was. I'm just going to go to a shelter." Although he'd planned on just talking it out with the aggressive male, he didn't want to risk it. His dark brown eyes darted over to the first man, the one he had been talking to first who appeared to be in pain, then flicked over to the new and somewhat violent male. His cocked his head just slightly in the direction of the new man, suggesting only one word to J: "help".

❖ J. Brand
In a matter of seconds, the moment took over. It trudged behind the demon like a shapeshifting dog, shocked into submission, then furious as a wolf, not even ready to spring but upon its victim already with the endurance it possessed; he summoned the very last of his strength to overturn the scenario, wrenching the man's hands off of whomever this was without so much as a movement, he pored over death for a moment before deciding against it, bringing him to a full stop and turning his head towards the man. "Mind telling me what the hell this is all about?" he barked, staring at him as if he had not just offered shelter to the other; in J's mind, as long as a danger was not posed to the first stranger and this man was just here, the twenty-something-year old was transparent.

His eyes did not change color; however, he was fairly certain that logical deduction would be his persecutor now - if the stranger he had been attempting to converse with had even an ounce of salt, he would be at his mercy. J did not, however, believe that was the case, and he attempted to make that clear as he invoked an interrogative portion of his being and directed it towards the person whom had dared to endanger either of the two. His arms twitched again. He wasn't certain if ten minutes had elapsed since his time on the bench.

It was neither concerning or amusing that this twenty-year-old had managed to murmur an affirmative to the shelter through his assailant; just, he supposed, another fact of the matter. Despondence wasn't likely; the stranger he had helped didn't seem a pessimist, at any rate - just surprised and afraid for his life. He waited, distant, for an answer; the air tasted acidic, and he felt as if instead of worrying the clouds into releasing it in fifty minutes, the rain would come in five.

A memory tugged at his mind. He did not let it pierce the veil.
There was nothing before this.
