Jasmine looked up as Jake had walked into the room. Her eyes immediately dropped back down to her paper, her hair falling around her face like a halo. As Jake walked closer and sat down she closed her eyes, her heart thumping out of her chest. "hey" she heard him say and she looked up at him through her hair.
He's just being nice don't be so naive "So I guess were lab partners" he added. Jasmine bit her lip and nodded "I guess so" she said in a hushed voice, unable to talk any louder from lack of talking to people. She looked back down at her drawing and shut her notebook not wanting to be rude. "So you um doing ok?" she asked in the same hushed tone as if she were telling him a secret.
Why can't I just speak up. Tell him I have missed him? She asked herself
Because he will think your a freak who is stuck in her past. Her mind felt like it was fighting her heart and she just wanted to pour out everything that was on her mind.
She blinked a few times still looking at the desk remembering one of there late night chats.
Jasmine sat alone waiting for Jake in tears. He had run up to her quietly and climbed up sitting next to her "What's wrong? What happened this time?" he asked in a worried voice "They got rid of him Jake, they got rid of Jasper" she said and started sobbing into his shoulder. Jasper was Jasmine's dog, her only friend at home that she could talk to when Jake wasn't there for her. "They said they were sending him to the pound and at school today, when I wasn't home they got rid of him" she sobbed into his shoulder. Jake had wrapped an arm around her trying to calm her down. They had sat there for an hour, her just crying into his shoulder as he shushed her and rocked her back and forth. When she stopped crying she sniffled looking up at him "Promise you will be here always" she said with a course voice. Jake had nodded "I will be here no matter what" he told her and hugged her close. After a while of saying nothing they both fell asleep in the tree house together, when her parents found them the next morning Jake's parents had come over and ripped him away from her.
To that day they hadn't talked, and that was over five years ago and he probably remembered none of it. A tear slipped down her face and she blinked coming back to the present. Jasmine wiped away the tears and the one that fell on her notebook and sniffled, looking up at the board trying to get her mind off of Jake

"I am not a dork and you know that sweetheart" he said finishing his bagel up. When she handed him the money back he sighed "Really Kace? I am paying you back and you won't take the money" he said with a mouthful and swallowed. "Ugh thats like no classes though. We have all my nap time classes together Kace" he said and grabbed her arm before she could get out of the car "We don't have to go today Kacey. Come on please? I wanna go on an adventure. A last day of freedom kinda thing!" he said and smiled at her. "Come on you know you wanna" he said letting go of her wrist and got out of the car. He walked around grabbing her hand and pulled her to his car and opened the passenger's side door "Your choice. You either come have fun with me or leave and go to boring school" he said and motioned from the door to the school. "One simple little choice" he said getting into the drivers seat. Under his seat was a necklace that was his mom, in a pretty little case. He planned on giving it to her today if she came with him. He gave her puppy dog eyes and faked a whimper "Please Kace? I got a picnic all packed up for the two of us" he said in a very childish voice
