WILL FIND THE STRENGTH TO GO BEYOND

WILL FIND THE STRENGTH TO GO BEYOND
━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✦ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- we've been running for what seems like forever... last night, we
managed to catch the last train. once morning came, we were back
on foot - and we are still marching. my throat feels like i swallowed
sand and my body has basically just had enough. i didn't realize that
i was slowing down. i nearly fell on my face from exhaustion, but
someone caught me just in time. i jerked back up on my feet, snapping
back to reality. i looked up to see jason standing there, his usual cold
eyes now filled with concern. "alex, you've got to hold out just a little
longer. okay? just a little longer - we're almost there." he grabbed my
shoulder, making me make eye-contact with him. i quickly nod. "okay,"
i manage to say. jason nods, looking at the others. they are all tired and
drained too. but he begins to jog ahead again. "it's not too far now." kind
of easy for him to say - he is pretty much the fittest out of all of us, lean
and muscled. trained for this... i push the thought away. now is not
the time for those thoughts... we all jog after him once again. i make myself
keep running. i can't stop. if i stop, i might as well be dead. i glance at the
others, they are all about to collapse too. i feel slightly embarrassed that i
was the first to nearly pass out, but it doesn't matter now.
this is what we've been doing for the past two days: running. running
for our lives. jason says that he knows a place for us to rest. we're all
too tired to argue - even michael, the one who usually challenges
everything jason says, hasn't uttered a word in the past several hours.
