It happened so fast ( the Duke finding her ) that Jacquette's eyes wandered straight past the Duke and elsewhere to a more crowded and elaborate table near the thrones of France. It did make her wonder where the Queen and King were. It was her duty to stand beside the Queen but where was she? However when a figure stood up it was only a normal reaction to look that way and realizing it was the Duke, even though it she was expecting it... it never more came as a surprise. Jacquette was stunned to say the least and her heart fluttered for a moment although her face held no emotion. But Jacquette would have to be clever and remember the reputation about this man. He only wanted her for his own gain and so she would not obey, whatever he commanded. However a promise was a promise and so breaking away their gaze she nodded thanks to the both of ladies and walked with her hands clasped together infront of her. Cautiously the lady in waiting stood beside the Duke, looked into his eyes, nodded and then took the free seat. She was nervous now. What would people be thinking about her sitting next Duke Bonflis!? However this didn't last long as to keep the politeness she says "Thank you Duke Bonflis. "- She would never say him true name.

She paused. She paused. Even that was enough for the Duke to know, to be certain, that the lady in waiting did not trust him and thought he would do anything to bed her. Perhaps he would, but why make her his mistress, ruin her reputation and thus make her a woman no man would marry? There were many, many woman in the streets of Paris and in his own dukedom that he could have. He was only lavishing his attention on this woman in particular for her youth and beauty, as well as a way to simply pass the time while he was here, at court.

Eventually, she took the seat. Gently pushing it in so that she was nearer to the table, Duke Bonfils leaned down so his breath tickled against her ear and cheek before resuming his own seat and replacing the clean napkin back to his lap. "S'il vous plait, Lady Jacquette, call me by my given name. We are friends, are we not?"

this is val-rousseau. he's a 5'4" servant for the royals, and quite the pain at times. he can complain, likes to pick fights and start arguments and he never bites his tongue. he never goes by ambroise. he hates both his first and second name, going by either his third, rousseau, or valerae, or a combined, val-rousseau. he came from a poorer household with no siblings and no mother, who died giving birth to a premature, scrawny baby boy who would spend seventeen years staying small. he was raised in the gutters, but he wanted to get out and break his family chain. when he was eighteen, he looked for work to get out, since he promised himself he'd be out by twenty and have nothing to do with his father. well, he found work, and while he's been heard spitting and cursing and declaring how much he hates his job, he really is grateful for their kindness and will to take him in and let him be a servant. val-rousseau is usually quiet and he tends to stick to himself. on the off day that he's not upset about something, he's friendly, and while still mostly silent, he's more willing to help and try to make friends. he was never really good at that, though.

Friends?.. Jacquette had never thought of their relationship that way but she watched as her name folded along the Duke's tongue and couldn't help but gaze for a moment. His breath tickled the side of face and unable to move she just looked to his face; Her watery blue eyes observing him quietly. The Duke was somewhat of a fascination to her as there was so much she didn't know about him. What was his past honestly like? Why did he take interest in her? But why did she feel an odd attraction? Jacquette, the young maiden could not come up with possible satisfactory theory and so she sat back and listened to the rest of what he had to say and trying her best not to make eye contact with anyone else as that could spring up numerous rumors. And that wouldn't end well.

Call me by my given name. He had said and Jacquette leaned forwards at this, slightly surprised. She had never done that before unless she was really close with someone and trusted them with all her heart and so shaking her head, she offered a little smile. "We may be friends kind Duke but I could never do that... or at least now" she confirmed shuffling slightly closer to him to make up for this." But tell me, who catches your eye here?" She raises her eyebrows and then looks around the room.

Duke Bonfils was disappointed that she would not call him by his given name. However, she would have her reasons - women always did. He had learnt that over the years, both from his deceased wife and from his... conquests. There was no need to rush things along, for he was certain that the lady besides him would come over to his side, even if it did take a while. What was the fun in rushing things along when he could go slow and enjoy it? He would have the entire court speaking about him and Lady Jacquette. And then he would leave her for another woman, and continue on his way. That was what a bachelor man did.

Humming lowly in his throat at his companion's question, Alexander sat back and allowed his dark gaze to rake the Throne Room, taking in the many women and offering a few winks to ones who looked particularly keen. "Apart from yourself, you mean? I think the list would go on. All women at this court are beautiful and dressed in the height of fashion," he paused, turning to look at Jacquette carefully with mocha eyes, "Does that answer your question?"

His seductive ways would not capture her however much he tried! That she wouldn't allow and taking hold of his hand that was placed on the table she nears closer to his face so that they were only inches apart. The Mocha brown locked with the sea blue." Duke Bonflis, I warn you now that if you continue courting women the numerous ways you do bad things will eventually come your way." She paused for a moment hoped that the rose scent of her perfume and her words were going to edge him on even further. Her question she had asked was not just any brief one, it was to find out about him and dig a little deeper. In all honesty Jacqeuette was expecting more of him but what could expect from a man like him? Jacquette continued, but lowered her voice still edged with ice." One thing I will tell you is that however hard you try. However many days or months. I will never become your pitiful mistress. Understand?" She confirmed still keeping the closeness between them.
