Orpheus reclined on the edge of his cell, smiling quietly. This was truly the life. Good food, no one bothering him... Of course, some did, to find out why he was less flexible and stronger than the others-for the last time, he was a panther. Not a cat.-and stuff like that, but for the most part, life was good. Getting boring, in fact. He'd been so tame the scientists had dared come closer, and now, he was bored. The watching quietly was at an end, it would be time to act soon enough.

As he watched out for that female scientist he'd picked, he smirked quietly. But suddenly, there was a loud screech, and he covered his ears, before seeing a body get dragged in. His ears flicked forward, curious. It was unconscious, and the bird neko's face, though slackened with the losing of her consciousness, was still slightly turned down, evidence of her fight before.

Whilst he studied the girl, the door slid open, revealing a human girl, and Orpheus watched quietly from his corner as she came over, his eyes following her like hawks, though his body moved only a little.
Mostly just on rps now. XD

Excalibur~~~
Excalibur sat silently in the interrogation room, with her legs pulled up to her chest and her wings wrapping her body. This was her defensive maneuver; actually, it was more like her dead-end stance, when she knew she couldn't escape. While the humans questioned her, Excalibur stayed huddled in her little ball, eyes darting about, searching for an opening; being fused with a bird, the first thing Excalibur hated was small spaces, where she couldn't stretch her wings, couldn't fly. And this dim, dingy makeshift camp was exactly that; small, cramped, and dirty. Casting a venomous gaze at the balding scientist who was interrogating her, Excalibur scrunched together tighter then spoke for the first time in hours. "I will not tell you anything. Take your people and go home." Excalibur said in a soft but clipped tone, her voice high and lilting. Quickly, she was swarmed by scientists, now bombarding her with questions; squeezing her eyes shut, Excalibur cried softly, the faint, bird like sound all but unheard. Excalibur had to resort to extreme measures. Rapidly snapping her wings open again and using the same method she had used when she was captured, she knocked the scientists away, then took a deep breath, finally not feeling suffocated. However, the guards posted at the door quickly saw the situation and rushed over, each of them grabbing an arm and a wing. Grunting softly in protest, Excalibur was then unceremoniously hoisted into her cell. Wincing, Excalibur tried shifting her position. "You're hurting... You're hurting my wings..." She murmured, grimacing, but no one paid her any heed. As the cell door slammed shut and the claustrophobic feeling came back again, Excalibur scrabbled at the tiny window, trying to find some way to escape, a soft, cooing sound emanating from Excalibur's throat.
Thank you, Monty.

I stepped farther into the room. Most containment units were empty, but I did spot a neko that looked a bit like a human boy and the alien from before. I squinted for a moment, instinctively trying not to look even younger than I normally did (which is about two years younger than I already am... I don't have much to lose) and cautiously proceeded to look around.
This seemed like a worst and worst idea now. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but not the room, almost empty, with the aliens in the cages... containment units, I had to mentally correct myself. This didn't scare me, as I am way harder to scare than that, but it spooked me. I wished I didn't come and immediately felt like a coward.

Excalibur~~~
Excalibur continued to emit the high, warbling coo, thoroughly upsetting the small scattering of Nekos around her; after all, Excalibur's wings and voice were all strangely different than the land animals. Blatantly ignoring them and seemingly fascinated with something on the ground, Excalibur started to rock back and forth, back and forth, fragile form moving slowly, wings collapsed tightly against her back. Increasing the crescendo of her warbling when she noticed a girl walk close, Excalibur blinked owlishly for a moment before recognizing the stature; it was the young human she had seen, the one that was watching her. Blinking again, Excalibur flicked her eyes to look around, looking through the bars to see a Panther or Cat Neko -she wasn't sure which- and tried to talk to him in a series of coos and avian cries, forgetting the universal language in her terror and still slightly drowsy mind. Remembering that cats don't understand birds, Excalibur shrunk back against the wall, cowering, on the verge of breaking down and bawling despite her age; she hadn't developed a shell yet, despite how mature she looked. Oh no; that would come later. Remembering the teenage girl, Excalibur edged closer to the bars, emitting a soft, high hum, as if she was asking a question; it was clear that short note was directed at Helen, and Excalibur tipped her head to the ide, expecting an answer.
Thank you, Monty.

I didn't understand what she was trying to communicate to me, though it sounded sort of... again, spooky. Like a question, a little, and a little of an accusation. She was looking at me in a very human-like fashion. I bit my lip, not knowing what to do. I could say something, but what? "Hi?" "Who are you?" "It's not my fault?" "42?" Puzzling over it for a moment, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to answer. I never got aliens, before, and this came the closest to communication with a different sentient species in my experience.
"Uh." I managed, in a very un-Helen-like fashion, and that is to say unsurely. "Um. Can you...er... understand me? Are you trying to speak to me?"

Excalibur~~~
Excalibur blinked owlishly again, scrutinizing Helen for a second, then suddenly leapt forward ad lightly shook the bars, making a small, pitiful mewling sound in the back of her throat. "H-h-h-.... H-H-H-Hel-Hel.... Help..." Excalibur said, trying to wrap her tongue around the human word. The mewling sound intensified, and Excalibur's eyes shone with unshed tears. "H-H-Help?" She repeated, getting used to the language, now that she was slightly over her shock. Shaking the bars again, Excalibur frowned, flicking her gaze over to the other Neko for help, but getting no response. Scrunching up again, Excalibur started to curl her wings around like a cocoon, finally realizing that this girl might be just like one of the white coated humans wandering around her world, kidnapping the other Neko's.

Listening to the bird neko as she had her panic attack, as she broke down, Orpheus waited. When she kept glancing at him, he gave her a soft nod, reassuring her. It would be alright. He didn't really understand her, but he could feel the panic radiating off her body in waves. Hard not to, really. He let out a soft, deep throated hrr, a comforting, constant sound as he tried to her to stop panicking. "Hush, it's alright. Calm down, and they won't send others in." He reassured her softly, shifting his unsettling gaze to the human. A cat's gaze was a powerful, mysterious thing, and by shifting his gaze elsewhere, the bird would calm down more easily, since he made it obvious he wasn't going to attack her.

"I'm not going to call anyone else." I finally sounded like myself: daring, confident, overwhelmingly confident. Control freak, just a little, I admit it. It was, for some reason, the fact that there was someone staring at me that triggered it. Maybe it was just a superstition, but the way he looked at me felt like he was going to attack me or something. Like a big, very big tom cat. I didn't like that, but I could deal. The panic that the other one showed, that was different. I had no idea what to do.
"Seriously. I'm not." I wasn't why I repeated myself: maybe I wasn't sure they could understand me. "I shouldn't even be in here. They'd kill me if they knew. I mean, not literally, like, kill kill me."
I wasn't sure if they knew the concept of a metaphor.
This wasn't, after all, Earth.
This was Eden.
I didn't know the rules of living with aliens.
It scared me, just a tiny bit. Not like I'd ever admit it.

Excalibur~~~
Excalibur peered at Helen through her visor of feathers, the soft white down flicking about softly in the faint, stale breeze blowing in. "No... No help?" She questioned softly, flicking her gaze once more to the panther neko, relaxing visibly when he said it was alright. When she turned her gaze back, Excalibur scrutinized Helen for a moment, eyesight sharpening and pupils dilating, before she sighed and stood up, wings folding back with a quiet, muffled snap. Walking forward daintily, making sure not to scratch her feet on the pitted cobblestone ground, Excalibur quickly 'sharpened' her nails, raising them up as the grew slightly longer, but much, much sharper; looking like she was about to slash at Helen's face, Excalibur merely swiped a hand at the bar in front of her and Helen, creating a hollow scratching sound while a few stray sparks flew into the air. Slightly frustrated that her plan didn't work, Excalibur let out a loud shriek, clearly frustrated; most of the time she was able to cut through thins easily. Of course, Excalibur hadn't ever come into contact with refined metal before. Shrieking again, Excalibur's eyes widened slightly as she realized she was making too much noise, and clapped a hand over her mouth, staring with a slightly panicked expression at Helen, as if she was signaling for the girl to run, to hide, to do something instead of standing there.
Thank you, Monty.

I bit my lip, wondering exactly how it wasn't bleeding yet. Bad habit of mine. I mean, wondering about stuff, not biting my lip.
"I can't let you out. I don't know how to open it." I tried to explain. "I can't open the containment unit. And there are guards stationed everywhere. Guards. They'll shoot as soon as they see you. I can't really do anything, and even if I could, it'd get you killed, most likely."
Looking at the alien, I wasn't sure how much she understood, or if she understood anything at all. I wasn't sure why I came in the first place. But now I felt far too guilty to leave. I bit my lip again. This wasn't anything like what I imagined the planet of Eden would be.
Not crouching here on in a dimly lit room, my large bag, weighing down my shoulder, and trying to communicate with a different species. It more of the normal kind of thing that I expected: non-sentient aliens and creatures of Earth, like I normally saw in Dad's laboratories.
