Welcome to Kentucky; the great racing state. The world seems to revolve around thoroughbreds racing at the top of their game. It's life in the fast lane for these horses and their jockeys- literally. Two different farms house the main contenders in this year's races. There's the small, humble, run-down Walsh farm, then there's the big-shot, champion-producing Claiborne Farm. There is a long-standing rivalry between these two farms, all starting when the Walsh farm's owner stopped training racehorses for Claiborne. Claiborne farm's CEO, Charles Montgomery, did everything he could to sabotage the trainer. When Walsh farm was in charge of Claiborne's horses, there were winners every year. This year, the two farms will compete on the track and on the field. Who will win? Will the horses and their riders hold up under the pressure of winning for their farm?

"A dog looks up to a man,
a cat looks down on
a man, but a patient
horse will look a man
in the eye and see him
as an equal."

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when
I gave the word. Now in
the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my
enemy's eyes. Listen as the crowd
would sing "Now the old
is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells
are ringing, Roman Cavalry
choirs are singing. Be my mirror,
my sword and shield, My missionaries
in a foreign field.

For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there
was never, Never an
honest wordAnd that
was when I ruled the world.

It was the wicked and
wild wind, Blew down the
doors to let me in. Shattered windows
and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become.

»literacy and posting» literacy is a big one. I want at the very least five lines per post. I'm not trying to be strict, I just want this RP to flourish. Proper grammar, sentence structure, and capitalization do matter. I also expect that you have an adequate vocabulary.

»basic things» we all know these things, but I'm going to list them anyway. All tess rules apply, no swearing, no explicit romance, heavy drinking, extreme violence, animal abuse (of any kind; this will NOT be tolerated!), no falling in love with your own character, no OOC fights, no spamming. Now that's over, allow me to elaborate. These rules are standard for most rps, and I didn't feel as if I had to make a paragraph for every single one of them. Really, we all have common sense here.

»characters & more» There is no limit on the amount of characters you may have. You may play four-legged animals of any kind (birds included), but they must live at the Walsh Farm. Claiborne has horses only. Animals can talk just as people would, but only to each other. There is a wide variety of sports to choose from for your horses, not just racing. Humans live at their farms in the main houses. Also- people do not always win, and things do not always go right. Nobody's perfect; end of story.

This is supposed to be fun! I hope everyone can make friends and enjoy this RP :) Forms don't have to be long, and I'd actually prefer if the characters didn't know much about each other. Animals do need a form. If you see tons of horses in one category, please try to choose another. Forms go on the discussion thread
              only!

              .Just post for slots.

Running Phantom

The day had been long and boring. He had been in a tailer for almost five hours because he was switching farms due to his old farm retiring. So him and his rider Austin both were heading to a new farm. As they got to the new farm Phantom loved it. He was a sucker for nice older looking farms with lots of land. As the beautiful albino thoroughbred stepped out of the trailer he bobbed his head up and down. Seeming almost agitated. Though Austin only smiled at the white beast and stroked his nose before leading him to a barn. Which would become his new home for possibly the rest of his racing career. Which phantom wished would last forever. Though Austin and other people knew he wouldn't be able to race forever. So they had the Phantom horse on a tough twining schedule. Though it wasn't anything that Phantom wasn't used too. Though today Austin was allowing Phantom the day off in his stall to get used to the place. Which didnt bother Phantom at all. He just stood in his stall looking around at all the other horses. Austin stayed in the barn too. Though he was putting away tack and other gear for Phantom.

.victoria.

          wearing.

Victoria was roused from her slumber. A dim stream of light flooded through her window now, the first glint of dawn that cracked the clouds. She looked at the alarm clock; it read 6:30 am. It was time. Victoria threw some day clothes on, grabbed her helmet from her desk, and tried to descend the creaky stairs as quietly as possible. The old, warped wooden floors were cold to her bare feet.
Victoria approached the back door, pulling back the little white curtain that covered the door's window. The farm was quiet, illuminated by the soft light from above. She slipped her boots on carefully and stepped out onto the little back porch. An exhale escaped her lips, wisping into cold morning air. The late-autumn air felt cool and thick on her lungs as she drew breath. It was going to be a beautiful day.
A chorus of nickers sounded from the stable as Victoria slid the large door open, letting a gentle gust of frosty air permeate the barn. A maze of stalls lined the walkway on both sides, over half of them vacant. Texas was curled up in a warm bed of straw. Victoria opened the door and slipped in, stroking Tex's forelock.

          .Texas .

My legs ached from being curled up beneath me. I watched carefully as the door was unlatched, getting up to greet my rider. I stretched graciously, nickering softly as an apple slice was offered to me. Obviously, I took it. A rope was clipped onto my halter and I was put in the crossties in front of the open barn door. A chilly breeze swept over my shiny black coat, ruffling my mane. It had gotten very long over the summer.
A brush was gently rubbed over my fur, removing the itchy sawdust from me. Victoria brushed out my mane and tail, then began to trim them with scissors. I could only watch as my thick locks dropped to the ground, leaving just barely three inches of hair. I didn't mind this, since my mane was only good for getting tangled up. She clipped me and groomed me to perfection, then swept up the mess after. It was the daily routine.
