Sophia, since a young age had always been pressured to be popular, perfect, and pretty. You could say she's pretty. beautiful, actually, but not on the inside. Vain, unfriendly, and judgemental, the girl usually worries about herself and her own well being before anyone else, even her closest friends. She is hard to get to know and hates listening to others. Mystery is something she tries to shroud herself in but, if you crack her actually quite simple code, you'll find someone who is exactly who they say they are and act like. There is no warm heart under that cold skin, or at least there hasn't been since she stopped being a cute little kid. Although, Sophia is quite resilient and when injured or hurt emotionally. She gets her revenge and bounces back. She's mean and ambitious, always wanting what she wants right now with little patience. You could say she can be like a 'princess' sometimes. It's a wonder anyone can put up with her. Realistic could also be used to describe her. This eighteen year old can be negative, always stating the obvious when people are lost in the land of hope and daydreaming of a better time. She can seem intimidating and acts older than she is, like she's been out of high school for years, living life. Some might consider her 'sexy' or 'seductive' at first glance but in a relationship, she isn't very committed.

name
---------- carternickname
----- carage
------------ eighteenbirthday
------- twelfth decgender
-------- malecarter ashford arrived on the twelfth of december 1995 to much delighted parents. currently eighteen years old, carter was born and raised in a small town in florida, doing decently in school and excelling in social and sports events. a trained kickboxer, car has always done well in sports, making the football team and athletics team. he has always been popular, but only ever had his small group of friends which he has never really branched out from. they were the 'five musketeers' as they called themselves, and were practically inseperable until highschool when he met some new friends.
now, although he has had his fair share of the popularity, all the girls and so on, he has always been very awkward and a bit shy, although he hates to admit it. sometimes he does get a little big headed and can be a bit of a show off, then he realises everything has gotten to his head and he calms down a little, shrinking back down to his normal, quiet self. despite the fact that he is a quiet young man, when he is with his close friends he won't shut up. he loves to get into a good conversation, but when he isn't fully into it he tends to go off in a world of his own and daydream a little. his friends tend to call him 'slow' a lot. during the middle of a conversation he'll ask 'what?' and have to get caught up in the conversation, and often even the simplest tasks can make him seem a little stupid. he says that he isn't 'slow' but he is 'sure' and likes to know exactly how to do things.
however, carter does often act before he thinks. he comes up with a plan, executes it and then, most of the time, ends up regreting his decision in the first place. sometimes it can be quite amusting and entertaining to watch him fail at obviously impossible parkour or trying to do stupid little tricks on his bike. he just can't seem to think of the consequences. things like that don't faze him, though. carter loves the outdoors and is always doing something. although, doing stupid things like this has eventually got him some interesting little party tricks.
carter is a gentleman, and he is very respectful of girls. he won't mind putting the girls infront of himself, and when it comes to other people he always likes to put them before him and make sure they're ok before he does anything himself. sometimes he may accidentally let slip a comment girls could see as disrespectful, but he is only just playing around and he likes to tease everyone. especially his friends.
that's most of the better things covered, but like every person on earth he has his bad points.
as i said before, he can get a bit big headed and likes to show off, but he can also be quite over protective over people. yes, he lets them have their own freedom and such, but for example, with a girlfriend, he will get a bit paranoid that other people are looking at her and as a result he will end up sticking closer to her or putting his arm around her protectively. he has never gotten further than that when it comes to being protective, but on some occasions he has been on the brink of a fight before being pulled away. though he is usually very gentle and kind, he has a short temper and he feels like punching something, but he just has to be by himself for a while whilst he cools off. anyone in the way gets him more angry. car tends to be quite pessimistic a lot and looks on the bad side of things very often, but when he is doing something he likes he is very happy and is suddenly optimistic again. some people think he can be a bit bi-polar sometimes but he really isn't, just a short temper.
as for everything else, carter is heterosexual [ in other words, straight ] and at the moment he doesn't have a girlfriend or a crush. if you're wanting to impress him, simply be yourself. yeah, a pretty girlfriend would be nice, but he doesn't really care too much on looks. as long as they are loyal and trustworthy and they get along together really well he is happy.

lucy's body felt like lead. she couldn't move a muscle- they were all frozen in place. it was as though someone had shoved her into the bottom of the ocean, with the amount of pressure on her chest. not to mention she couldn't breathe! when she opened her mouth, she inhaled something soft, wet, and cold- snow? why would she be buried under snow?
then it all came back to her. luce had been tagging along behind the group, whistling through her teeth as she hopped over stones. the next thing she knew, thousands of pounds of snow was flying at her face. that was the last thing she remembered, honestly. but it didn't matter, really. what did was getting out from under the suffocating cold! she kicked her foot as hard as she could manage, and felt the wind blowing on her soaking socks. already choking, luce shoved herself out of the snow as hard as she could, gasping for breath as her lips felt air on them. she sucked in mouthfuls of delicious oxygen, hands wrapped around her shoulders, and she shook. she'd never felt a cold to terrible: it went straight through her and froze her bones until she couldn't think about anything but the cold. about how she'd probably lose a finger or two due to this.
"h-hello?" she stammered, looking around and rubbing her arms. "james? jane? noah? anybody?" she saw a shoe sticking out of the frozen earth, and screamed, hand flying to her mouth. then she rushed forward, her fingers trembling as she struggled to dig up the person laying beneath the snow. as the face of hudson emerged. she latched her fingers around the boy's, tugging on them, terrified that she'd been too late.
she pulled on him- his arms, his legs. "get up!" she screamed, her voice breaking mid-sentence. "please, oh, please, hudson..." his eyelashes fluttered finally, and lucy began to sob in relief. she couldn't help herself, and tears poured down her cheeks as she held his frozen fingers. he was the only person she'd found so far, and there was no way she was letting him go.

Sophia opened her deep, bluish green eyes, seeing nothing but the cloudy sky above. Her hair was soaking wet. She was freezing cold. Colder than she ever had been before, and hopefully will ever be again. Was she asleep? Passed out? It must have been the latter, as no one in their right mind would ever sleep in something this cold. Was it... snow? The eighteen year old stood up quickly, her body stiff and rigid, snow falling to the ground off of her head, and torso. Oh, yeah, they had gone hiking in the mountains. To be exact, the Appalachian Mountains. But she didn't remember what had caused her to go unconscious. All Sophia knew was that she was cold, she was confused, and she was wet. What else would anyone do if their friends were nowhere in sight and they seemed to be alone on the top of a tall, snowy mountain?
She screamed, a loud, piercing scream that could probably be heard almost a mile away (okay, maybe that's exaggerating a bit) if the wind had not stolen the sound of her voice the moment she released it. It carried across the side of the mountain, fading away with the snowy wind. She couldn't feel her legs, and her arms felt like noodles. Noodles, what a silly word to describe something so terrible. Sophia screeched again, about to lose her voice from straining it so hard and loud. She didn't want to die. Not now, whatever time it happened to be. It could be a few hours from when she was last conscious. Maybe a day, two. She wasn't thinking straight. Could people survive in the cold for two days? No, it's not possible. Where were the others? Were they... dead? Gone?
They were all she had, or all that she wanted to have. Her parents... they would be fine without her, even though they cried just as much as every other parent during graduation. At least, her mother would be fine without her. Her father, though, she would probably miss him if she died today. But not her younger brother, or baby sister. They were useless, stupid. Pressured even at their young age to be the best. But she had no pity as the girl, or, woman now, had gone through the exact same thing. Why shouldn't someone suffer when you did? That was her thinking, anyways. Sophia blinked repeatedly, trying to shake the numbness from her freezing arms and neck. Was she the only one now? Were the others fine, hiking, or maybe looking for her? Or, back to her original thought, they might not be capable of looking for her. Maybe they've woken up, somewhere, confused and alone just as she was. She didn't see anyone at all, not Lucy, or Hudson, who were awake, somewhere too.

CARTER ASHFORD
location mountain → tagged lucy
ooc nothing
carter ashford rolled to his side. at least he tried. at first it felt like he was in bed, snuggled up under the thick, warm duvet, his head rested on a comfortable pillow. then he realised. this was obviously not his bed.
there was a huge pressure on his chest, making it hard to breathe, and when he did tiny icicles speared his throat. where am i? he opened his eyes. white powder immediately blurred his vision as it sprinkled into his brown eyes. a pang of realisation shocked his body. carter tried to move his fingers, but they were numb and he couldn't feel his legs. he somehow managed to slowly dislodge his arms and drag his arms up to his face so he could dig a small hole infront of his face so he could breathe without snow getting into his face. car's numb fingers took a long time to finally release a few inches of snow and pat them down next to his cheeks. what do i do now...? he thought, listing options in his head. the others will be around here somewhere. i must get out and find them. he remembered what he had learnt after many years of army cadets and scouts. he balled up a small ammount of spit in his dry mouth, then spat onto the snow. instead of going down like it would if he was on his stomach, it dribbled back down his cheek. disgusting, but at least he knew which way up he was.
car slowly moved his head, then his arms again and began to cautiously worm his way out of the cascade of snow. he still couldn't feel his legs, but if he could get his head out of the snow he'd be able to see the damage. carter pushed his head up through about a foot of snow, mouthing a silent prayer that both himself and the others would be okay. he wasn't really the religious type, but he would need all the help he could get when he didn't know how long he had been under for. finally, a crack of clear sunlight pierced his eyes. he recoiled at the powerful light, but continued to dig himself out.
within five minutes, carter was out. he wriggled a bit of the feeling back into his thankfully undamaged legs and was now focused on finding his friends. during his escape, carter had also uncovered his backpack which now had a large tear on the back and one strap was hanging by a thread. he crawled a few feet from the messed up pile of snow where he had emerged and sat still, thinking of what to do next. only now did he really think about how cold it was and how cold it was going to get. the young man shivered and he tucked his gloved hands under his arms to warm them up a little. he had been walking only a meter or two infront of the others when the incident happened, so they couldn't be far.
suddenly, he heard a scream. get up! screeched the voice, obviously lucy. carter was surprised, but he wasted no time in pulling himself to his feet and scrambling up over a small dune of snow to reach the voice, a few meters away sat lucy with hudson at her side. lucy! he called gladly, rushing to meet her, falling over his own feet as he stumbled through the crunchy, untouched snow. are you two okay? he asked, noticing hudson was still unconscious. at least those three were together now. hud would be okay and they would find the others. i hope... car added at the end.

Darkness. Darkness is all Noah woke up to, all he felt, all he heard. Darkness. It was silent, and he was peacefully unconscious, but a scream had jolted him awake. Next came the panic, then the fear. Frantically, he tried moving his eyes, then his head. His legs were useless at the moment, but his upper body seemed to be functioning well enough. He was about to lose all source of hope and air when he saw a ray of sunlight. At first, it made him squint, but he slowly realized he was close to the surface. The surface of what? The snow. He was chilled to the bone, but hr would take care of that later, right now he needed to get out. Slowly, his fingers began to move, began to scratch at the snow. Faster and faster, soon he could see more light until his hand completely broke through the barrier. He outstretched it and brought it back down, clawing at the snow from the top now. Soon enough, his face was uncovered. He sat up, gasped for breath, and began breaking through the snow to reach the rest of himself. After the first few breaths, his teeth began chattering together. He saw his legs, but it took a solid minute before he could feel them. Slowly his body began to wake up from the cold.
An overwhelming sense of tiredness washed over him but he forced himself to think anyway. The only thing he remembered was walking with everyone, talking to Jason about something, college maybe? Who cares? The next thing he remembers is the snow falling, everyone scattering, and then darkness. Wait, where was everyone? He heard a scream in the beginning, but he had no idea who it was. Trying to stand up took a few tries, but once he did, he tried to gain direction. He didn’t see anything at first, but then he noticed them. Carter and Lucy. She was holding someone but he couldn’t see. Sophia was close too. Okay. That’s good. Where’s James though? Where’s Jane, Allie, James? Are they even alive? A shudder ran through him at the thought of his friends lying in the snow unmoving and cold. That could be him. He’s lucky Lucy screamed, he could still be lying there, slowly losing his life to the snow.
Now was the time to do something. A plan? Not yet, just get to your friends. “Guys?” His voice came out as a whisper at first, barely audible. He tried again. “Guys?” He yelled as loud as he could. He was about one hundred feet away from them, but in this snow, it seemed like a mile. He began to stumble toward them. What should have taken someone less than a minute, took him close to six. Soon enough, he was close enough to see an unconscious Hudson in Lucy’s arms. “Hudson..” His green eyes motioned from the body to Lucy and Carter. “Is he okay? Is he alive?” His voice rose in alarm. Where was everyone else, what were they going to do? His thoughts were jumbled and his mind was racing.

lucy couldn't speak; her tongue was frozen in her mouth. instead, she tightened her grip on her unconscious friend. terror drove her to insanity, and she desperately began to awaken hudson. first by putting snow on his face, hoping it would have the same effect as water. when that didn't work, she mustered all her courage and slapped him across the face, hoping, praying for a reaction. but the snow that still fell was dizzying, and she couldn't tell if hudson was even still breathing. tears left tracks on her cheeks, and she looked up at carter beside her. "where are the others?" she asked, shivering intensely and fighting the desire to lay down and go to sleep. a scream from her right- sophia. lucy squinted up at carter through the snow, telling him to make sure hudson didn't get too frozen, and she stumbled through the waist-deep snow to reach the other girl. lucy grabbed the girl's fingers, tugging her towards the location of hudson and carter. then she let go, and made her way as quickly as she could toward a scarf laying on top of the snow.
luce's hands felt like giant ice cubes, and digging through the snow onl made them colder. for the first time in her life, she wanted to have gloves more than anything else. her mother had always said gloves were for annoying girls who thought of themselves as princesses. "no daughter of mine needs gloves." back then, lucy had agreed with her mother; now, she wished she'd argued and taken a pair.
the face of james was revealed, and lucy could've sobbed in relief. she didn't think he was dead- she could see the rise and fall of his chest, hear the steady beating of his heart. she dug his legs out, and hoisted him over her shoulder as best as she could. whether he was unconscious or not, he was in no state to drag himself through the snow. as laid him next to hudson, shivering so violently that she fell to her knees. lucy couldn't speak; she could barely breathe for the cold. "w-we still h-have to find allie a-and jane and- and- " she couldn't say another word though, and she shut her eyes, imagining herself somewhere less cold. she imagined that she was crouched in front of a great fire, and the flames were near enough to make her sweaty, but now so dangerously close that she caught on fire. but even the blonde's imagination could save her from the biting cold. she had to grit her teeth and bear through it, as much as she hated it.

"Guys?" The dark brunette had heard screaming in the distance and stood up stiffly, her legs ice cubes. It was so cold that it burned... like frozen fire, biting through to her bones and freezing them, numbing them. She had hurt her ankle but only felt the dull ache a bruise might yield because of the feeling lost in her leg. But Sophia kept running, yelling, screaming until she lost her voice. The wind distorted what little she heard of the others, but it was obviously yelling and screaming. Were they to her left? Or her right? Uphill or downhill? Had she really run farther away from them?
No! She caught sight of a figure contrasting against the white snow left over from the... what was it again? The avalanche? Her memory seemed to skip from starting the hike to now. But her mind was numb like the rest of her body, and all she could do was run to the figure, hoping it was someone, anyone. Even if it wasn't a friend. But who was it? Short hair. Brown, not long enough to be James and definitely darker than Hudson's. "Noah!" she hollered, her voice cracking and scratching as she said the 'ah', "It's... what..." she couldn't keep track of what she was saying, the cold freezing her train of thought and throwing it off the track every time she tried to think of something to say.
"What happened?" panted she, out of breath and bent over. Sophia had somehow made it through high school with a D in phys. ed., so it was a wonder that she had made it this long running in heavy snow without doubling over and clutching her side as she did now. "I... weren't we going to go hiking?" She saw a few more people move, and guessed it was Lucy and Carter, by their contrasting hair. "I just can't seem to remember anything. At all. Like, did I seriously go to sleep in the freezing snow?"

xxxxxxx life was wild, and completely unpredictable. one day, you've finally reached an important milestone in your youthful years - feeling as if you're on top of the world, and the next you find yourself utterly disbursed, in no man's land, trying desperately to fend off a growing darkness threatening to consume you from the inside outward. it was a cold fact that most try to look past, preferring to keep in the bliss of ignorance instead of facing the reality that it could happen to any one of them, as rather unfortunate souls. hudson bryant was one of them, another unlucky pawn in the game of life. normally more of the childish, spontaneous type, he would have made it into a thoughtless joke - that is, if he himself hadn't been in the exact situation.
xxxxxxx it was cold; so utterly cold that he wasn't able to feel his body. a numbing effect had washed over him, both physically and mentally, as if having been floating above on wisps of clouds. in his mind, there was a grey hazy, a hazardous fog without the savior of sunshine. there wasn't a slightest strand of thought that could be pinpointed, simply an overwhelming emptiness that continued to grow at an alarming rate. was he alive? dead? perhaps somewhere in between? it was hard to tell which even he couldn't sum up anything close to answer. but then again, hudson hadn't the will to care. he was just too tired.
xxxxxxx suddenly there were muffled sounds that could be heard in his ear, disrupting the deadly unobtrusiveness, supplied by a rather painfully hard sting that had been enough to spark the wired nerves from his brain. it sent him back to reality.
xxxxxxx after a couple drawing moments, his eyelids fluttered, opening halfway in a slow, faint motion to reveal a pair of jaded hazel irises. the first few seconds of wake had been blinding as the light beneath his closed eyed had been prodigiously radiant - and quite unbearably so. however as his pupils dilated in adjustment, hudson first came to view of a cloudless sky, the atmosphere in a shade of blue almost too vivid to be natural. and suddenly, it was then when the pain finally caught up with him, sending jolts of shock along his arms, legs and torso that pushed away the comforting numbness. his head was throbbing with an immense ferocity that couldn't be located to an exact point along his skull, and he couldn't remember the feeling of his skin. hudson moved, pushing against the resisting pain which only intensified, using his hands to sit up against the white, frozen ground. once seated, he placed a hand on his forehead as to try and soothe his throbbing temple and allowed his eyes to roam for the first time - mind still blurred. there was a body directly laying peacefully beside him; that was his first realization. james. the recognition hit him hard as he peered at his unconscious friend, causing his eyes to widen in surprise and him to inhale a large amount of air through his clenched teeth. slowly, hudson turned his head as to view the others: sophia, lucy, noah, carter... where were the others? "guys," he croaked, his voice cracking uncomfortably and throat feeling of sandpaper, "what happened?"
