AKIO ADFIR
Age • 15
Mood • Tired
With • Nobody
A few minutes passed. No one so much as cracked open the backdoor of the cafe, and Akio took it as a good sign. Silently, he crept forward, keeping himself in or nearby shadows in case someone decided it would be a good idea to toss something out. No one came, though, and he allowed himself to relax the tiniest bit as he moved to the dumpster.

Lucky for him, one lid of the dumspter was still open. He was just too small to see over the edge, but he was used to this. Akio ignored the weak shakiness in his arms and hefted his light body up, looking inside hopefully. When he saw the messy stacks of boxes resting on and surrounded by trash, he grinned. Carefully balancing himself on the edge, he reached forward and grasped one of the smaller boxes. Just as he began lifting it up, he slipped and fell backwards, hitting the ground with a thud much too quiet for a human. The box crashed besides him, scattering it's contents across the floor.

Too loud. They heard me. The fall had knocked the wind out of him, and his wings felt crushed beneath his shirt and jacket, but Akio struggled to his feet. He had to get out of there before one of the people in the cafe caught him. Just as he was turning to run, though, he heard the back door fly open and an angry shout. Something caught onto the hood of his jacket and dragged him back. Akio yelped and struggled, but it was too late; He was caught.

"I thought we had cleared out you pests already!" He flinched at the harsh voice as he was spun to face his aggressor. "How many times do I - You again!" It was a baker, one Akio had seen clearing out streetrats before, himself included. He was usually pretty ruthless about it, and he knew it'd be no different with him. "What the hell did I tell you!? I told you to stay away! You damn kids keep trying to steal our food!"

Akio swallowed back a whimper, keeping his mouth clamped shut and his head bowed slightly, not look at the baker in the eyes. He hoped that the man wouldn't hit him, even though he knew the chances were slim. Keep quiet, say nothing. Maybe he won't hit you again. Seeing the scattered foodstuffs out of the corner of his eye, Akio felt his stomach drop. Nope. Nevermind.

((Haha guys I am so out of it.

I have decided that Akio's favorite pastry is apple turnovers.

Post, humans. Or I might die of sadness.

[Helloo. I am going to be posting (that's pretty much so I don't forget, and now I've said it I have to.). Ideas. Come on, me. Ideas!!
You can ignore my rambling if you want. Er...I think we need some character interaction or something here, but I'm waiting for Rayen to post. Do you want me to try and create a situation where Yue can meet Akio?]
hey! sorry, but i'm not really active on this site anymore. you can find me on my blog or tumblr instead if you like.

[ emiri miyamoto || 16 || levitation ]
    'Um...you first?'
"Well, I can alter the air pressure around me to lift myself or small objects and move them around at will," Emi declared in one breath, looking rather proud of her skill and of having figured out its workings already. The somewhat less glamorous backstory to that had involved several experiments with varying success, among which she'd broken a fair number of invaluable things and bruised herself lightly more than once. Her scraped knees, which she didn't bother covering with her skirt, were proof of that. "It's sort of a levitation-slash-telekinesis thing, if you will."

The beef broth smelled heavenly, so she dug in without even remembering to utter a 'bon appetit' at her companion. She was just about to ask her about her powers once again, when there was a loud crashing noise that seemed to come from the back of the restaurant - far too close for Emiri's liking. The last thing she wanted was to get into trouble and put herself on the spotlight, at least for the time being. There was a lot she still wanted to work out, and currently anonymity suited her just fine. Sitting on the edge of her seat, she put the bowl down and looked around rather anxiously.

"Did you hear that?" she asked Yue. "What's going on, now?" She tried to sound annoyed that their lunch was being interrupted, but there was still a recognizable nervous edge to her voice.

Levitation. Now that was a power that she could actually make use of. Rather than this stupid one she'd been stuck with. It was better than nothing, though, so she guessed she should be grateful.

Emiri seemed to have gone ahead and tuck into her soup, and Yue was about to do the same when they heard a horrible crashing noise. She almost winced, but stopped herself because that was exactly something that, you know, hardened street-wise people did.

"Did you hear that? What's going on now?" asked Emiri, the nervous edge to her words showing.
Taking a last regretful look at the barely-started bowl of beef, Yue stood up rather abruptly and made for the door.
"I'm just going for a...breath of fresh air," Yue stated, hoping that Emiri noticed what she was doing. "I'll be back in a moment."
Again, trying not to cringe, Yue slid out of the cafe and took a left. She edged into a pretty dilapidated alleyway and rounded the corner, coughing as the stench greeted her senses.

She was confronted by the sight of a cook, maybe a baker or something, and a short but dirty boy that she thought was around the same age as her, though it was hard to tell.

[Meh. This post is a bit rubbishy, if you'll excuse the language. I'll try to get some more people to join, in hope this doesn't fizzle out.]

AKIO ADFIR
Age • 15
Mood • Tired
With • Nobody
"We aren't doing this again, runt! Either you apologize, or I'll make you sorry you kept your mouth shut!" Akio felt himself lift up a couple inches off the ground so that his feet hung in the air limply. He remained still and silent as possible.

Just his luck. The baker didn't seem to be in the happiest of moods. Fear began filling up the painful emptiness in Akio's gut, and he could feel that his hands were getting a little clammy. He swallowed, keeping his head lowered slightly, not wanting to meet the bakers gaze. He prepared for the hit that was sure to come, but a sound made him pause.

Coughing.
Someone is coming.

It sounded like someone was coming from the side, and he could just make out the footsteps now that he knew someone was there. Couching from the stench, probably. It hadn't been heavy, or loud, but years on the street had fine-tuned Akio's ears for small noises. He turned his head almost imperceptibly to the side, eyes making out someone just rounding the corner through his hair. It looked feminine.

The baker hadn't noticed. How could he, when the girl had been so quiet? It hadn't even been too much of a purposeful quiet, which was full of it's own small sounds, but a cautious, natural quiet, like the light footsteps of an animal knowing it's being tracked. The man was still glaring at him, and when Akio continued to say nothing, the anger boiled over. He brought his fist down, aiming for Akio's jaw, but it made hard contact with the arms he had raised for protection. It still hurt, and Akio couldn't help but gasp in pain, but it was nowhere near as bad as it would have been. For that, Akio was happy.

In the back of his mind, he wondered what the girl would do.

((Nah, your post isn't bad. Works out pretty well for the situation, if you ask me. I'm more worried about my posts, cause sometimes I do stuff that peeps aren't okay with. Hopefully everythings good, though.

The baker hadn't seem to have noticed Yue was there, from the way he was still glaring at the boy. She suspected that the boy himself had noticed, though; there was just something observant about him.
Yue considered her options. The baker was about to hit the boy, in all likelihood, but would saving him just backfire on her? Again, probably.
Plans weren't really her thing. Yue just tended to sit in the corner and watch (which was much safer). This wasn't really an option here, though, as there was no crowd to hide in and doing nothing would come off badly.

There was a crunch as the bakery's fist connected with the boy's jaw. He let out a gasp and Yue scrambled in the mists if her thoughts, trying to grab into something substantial she could do.

Yue quickly dusted off her skirt and straightened up.
"Excuse me, but I was looking for the tailor's and I appear to have got myself rather lost. Would you mind escorting me there?" Doing her best to emulate the actions of the rich, Yue glared at the baker, "And I would suggest that you do help me, unless you want me to tell all my friends how you treat your...employees. I'm sure they wouldn't be so kind in their custom to you as they are now."
The boy blatantly wasn't in the employ of the baker, but it was the best she could do. The baker looked rather stunned, she realised with a twinge of pride.

[Seriously, you don't need to worry about your posts either c: .I'm in a bit of a rush so the ending is quite loose.
Bleurgh, I woke up too early this morning!]

[ emiri miyamoto || 16 || levitation ]
When Yue got up, Emi suddenly felt uneasy - she didn't want to lose sight of that girl. She'd been trying to find others like herself for so long that she wasn't willing to go back to square one now. She composed herself when Yue spoke, though. The girl was probably smarter than she let in. It wasn't unlikely that there might be other people aware of the fact that certain individuals had developed supernatural abilities, and if so they might be on the lookout for those people, perhaps even after them. In this case, Emi had to admit that a bit of paranoia was justified; keeping the nearby disturbance under a watchful eye seemed like a smart thing to do.

Still, she felt rather useless sitting alone in the deserted restaurant - and if there was one thing Emiri hated, it was to feel unimportant. She gulped down the remaining broth, trying not to show pain when it scalded her throat, and made for the door. The windchimes jingled merrily after her, leaving behind a rather puzzled waiter, but she was in a hurry and didn't bother to bid him a good day. As she made her way around the block, towards the source of the noise she'd heard, she could make out an exchange of words - and not a particularly friendly one, either. From what she could gather, a scruffy boy had somehow angered a menacing-looking baker. She heard Yue's voice, which sounded surprisingly posh, clear as a bell over the ongoing ruckus.

"And I would suggest that you do help me, unless you want me to tell all my friends how you treat your...employees. I'm sure they wouldn't be so kind in their custom to you as they are now."

For some reason, Emiri almost felt proud of the authoritative tone in her speech. «Well done, Yue. There's my cue.» With the most nonchalant air she could muster, Emi placed herself by Yue's side, straightening the fabric on her skirt with studied coolness. She took her time to look directly at the baker with a chilly stare, knowing that what he was seeing was not a mere sixteen-year old, but the daughter of the man who'd been plastered all over the news lately, as well as the ruthless reputation that preceded her family.

"Indeed, it would be a shame if this place lost favor among its invaluable customers, wouldn't it?," she casually addressed Yue. "Let's go. Maybe the boy can show us the way. He seems used to these parts, and I wouldn't enjoy the company of people who bully those weaker than them." She dismissed the baker with a wave of her hand, but the gesture was more purposeful than it would seem at first glance. Through the bakery's open window, a loud clang could be heard, shortly followed by an assistant's voice yelling profanities. The baker himself hissed a curse and rushed back into his shop, not without glaring at the three before turning his broad back on them.

"Well, that didn't sound good." Emiri's fingers twitched almost unnoticeably from the strain of using her power from a distance. It annoyed her how weak she still was at using these abilities; one of the reasons why she'd sought to learn more about the nature of their gifts was to become more powerful herself. She glanced at the boy, hoping he hadn't realized she had been the cause of the kitchen disaster. She didn't want to give away her powers to just about every street rat in the city. "Now that that's over with, we should leave."

AKIO ADFIR
Age • 15
Mood • Tired
With • Yue, Emiri
The baker had been surprised at the appearance of Yue, his fist dropping to his side quickly as if to hide the fact that he was beating Akio. Akio himself said nothing and did nothing, keeping his eyes on the bakers hand in case he tried anything. The conversation didn't go by unnoticed to him, though, and nor did the appearances of the new, older female.

His first thought, when he saw her, was She's that man's daughter. "That man" had been all over the news lately, for something Akio was unaware of; Life of the powerful had least and most effect on the poorest. So his big whatever-went-down did nothing for Akio's life. He realized as soon as he finished that thought that no, he was wrong. The man's big whatever had made him notable, even more so now, and that gave his daughter status. So by her being here, his life was affected by them. Just in a way nobody would expect.

His eye caught the motion of her hand as she dismissed the baker, and then a sound from inside the cafe drew his gaze. He didn't have time to think about it, though, because the man was tossing him to the ground. He landed hard on his back like before, but managed to keep his breath. Akio stayed where he was until he heard the back door close, and then slowly, carefully picked himself up. His gaze slid wearily to the girls.

Why did you help me? He wanted to ask. But he said nothing. Like usual. He should probably thank them, he knew, but the words didn't want to be found and didn't want to escape his thoughts. They were comfortable not being spoken, and Akio was comfortable not speaking. The taller one said they should go, anyway, and he most certainly didn't want to keep them there. The sooner they left, the sooner he could go and make sure his wings weren't injured. Cause jesus christ his upper right was aching.

Deciding they had no plans on hurting him (after all, they just helped him), he bent down and collected a few of the apple turnovers. It didn't matter to him that they were dirty from the alleyway ground, because food was food, and you ate whatever you could get your hands on. His body understood that, and Akio found himself biting into one of them. Yeah, show them how desperate you are. That's smart, Akio. Real damn smart. Weakness needed to be hidden, or people would prey on him. The thought caused him to edge just a tiny bit farther away from them, muscles tensing. The clammyness in his palms returned, and he knew how childish he was being. They just helped him. The chances of them doing or wanting anything else of him were small.

Akio hoped they hadn't been serious about him showing them the way to the tailors.

((You're fine! Godmodding the npc was just fine. I love reading your responses, they're always so good. Both of you are really great at this. And I know I'm pretty okay, too, but I can't help but worry. You probably know the feeling.

At least our posts can be all over the place together!

Emiri waved her hand at the baker, and a crash came from inside.
'Well, that didn't sound too good. Now that's over with, we should leave.'
Yue nodded vaguely in agreement, glancing up at the darkened sky.
'I think it might start raining soon, Yue told the others in a voice that was quieter than she would have hoped, 'we should probably find some shelter, else we'll be caught in the downpour.'
It mirrored Yue's situation, in a slightly twisted way: this was a moment where her life could change completely for the better, or where her flimsily constructed life could fall apart.

The boy didn't seem too interested in their talk - he had picked up the dirty apple turnover and was wolfing it down like he hadn't had any food in days. Which, Yue reflected, was probably not far from the truth.
She took a step towards him. 'You coming?' I'm not actually going to the tailor's, if that's what you were worried about... Yue turned away, a little embarrassed she hadn't thought of that earlier. As she did, a spot of rain landed on her nose.'Looks like we might be a bit late, though.'

The boy was looking at them untrustingly. It wasn't completely uncalled for, but Yue did feel slightly hurt. She lived on the streets, and wasn't like that all the time. Then again, Yue hadn't been like that for long, whereas this boy...he just seemed to have a ragged look about him, like those children who, however much they ate, were always hungry and bone thin.

[I'm really, really sorry...this week has been hectic.]
