alex looked dubiously at liesel's vaporeon - was it really strong enough to carry the both of them back across the water? as much as he trusted liesel, and by extension, liesel's pokémon, he really didn't like the thought of accidentally drowning right after catching his very first dragon pokémon. he watched apprehensively as liesel slipped into the water and clutched on to one of her vaporeon's fins easily. he supposed that, since she was a water-type trainer, being in and around it was like second nature to her, but it was a completely different story on his end. embarrassingly enough, alex had never learned how to swim, which was proving to be a significant problem for him at the moment. upon catching liesel's slightly exasperated look, however, he knew that it would be impolite to dawdle around any longer, lack of swimming experience be damned. she was doing him a favour, after all.

instead, he gritted his teeth and made his way to the waterline. at this point, maru wriggled her way free from his arms and took flight, something that he was extremely grateful for. he was going to have a hard enough time keeping himself alive, not to mention another pokémon. sighing, he watched as she circled around his head once or twice, pecking at his face in reassurance. he nodded wordlessly at her, checked to make sure his pokéballs were properly attached to his belt, then gingerly entered the water. "arceus!" he choked out, grabbing the vaporeon's tail. it was cold, no doubt about it, so cold that it felt like his feet were being burned off by some unearthly flame. it was suddenly very hard to breathe, like the icy water was gripping his lungs in an attempt to drown him. alex held on to the vaporeon for dear life, which was a great deal harder than it seemed, seeing as his hands were slippery. this was worse than the time he'd gotten stuck near the lake of rage during a massive snowstorm - his bike had been unable to pass through the enormous snow drifts that had formed between the lake and blackthorn city, and it took him all of two hours to get back home. alex pressed his lips together, feeling a little bit sheepish about how long he'd kept liesel waiting. how she wasn't frozen into some sort of iceberg by now was a miracle if you asked him. "let's get out of here," he said numbly. the sooner he was out of this freezing water and back in his home with a hot cup of tea, the better.

Johnny Casil

Johnny nodded and looked at the Swablu in Yuki's arms. He was shivering, and its voice was very weak and hoarse. He needed to go to a Pokemon Center as soon as possible.

"Okay. C'mon." Nny said. He turned around and took only one step before something heavy crashed into his back, tackling him to the ground. A ray of blue and black energy flew by right where his head used to be. Nny scrambled to his feet to see what the heck was going on. Twin had knocked him down, and was now facing a green and black pokemon with huge tusks sticking out of the corners of its mouth. It used Dragon Rage! It's a Dragon-type! Alright!

"Yuki, get to the Pokemon Center! I'll handle this!" Johnny shouted. The dragon roared and dove toward Twin. Twin had no time to react, and was clawed twice. Johnny didn't know what that move was. It was similar to Double Hit, but dragonized.

"Get out of my cave!" It shouted, "I'll crush you!" Johnny grinned. He could not understand the wild pokemon's words, but the message got across; this would be one heck of a fight.

"Twin, use Future Sight, then Stomp!" Twin's eyes glowed for a brief second, and a slight breeze past them. The dragon looked unimpressed. It ran at them again, this time with glowing white claws--Slash. Twin met it with his hooves. The moves cancelled out. Its mouth opened, and it released a wave of blue and black energy in the shape of a dragon. Twin reacted fast this time, using Psychic to catch the Dragon Rage and send it back. The dragon dodged and the energy exploded against a cave wall. The dragon growled, then used Scary Face, its eyes glowing deep red. Twin backed up, frightened.

"Ignore it, Twin! Use Shadow Ball until Future Sight comes!" The Girafarig gathered his courage and opened his mouth, forming a ball of purple-black energy. It flew fast at the dragon, but the dragon had a clever trick. It raised its fist and upper-cutted the Shadow Ball with that Dragon-Double Hit. The ball smashed into the ceiling in a burst of dust. The dragon grinned.

"You are nothing to me. I will bea-" Its taunt was cut short as a huge ball of white-hot energy slammed into its back. That was Future Sight, here right on time. The dragon fell to the ground.

"Quick Twin, use Double Hit while its down!" Twin hooves glowed purple and it stomped on the dragon twice with each hoof. The dragon was looking worse for wear. Twin stepped back, knowing what Johnny was going to do. Johnny took out a Dusk Ball he had bought just for this occasion. He threw it at the dragon and watched it get absorbed into red light. The ball fell to the cave floor and rocked violently. Would it work?

Yuki was happy to follow Johnny out of the cave, but before her male companion had taken even one step, he was sent crashing to the ground. Next thing she knew, some Pokemon was roaring and the other trainer was telling her to run. Though Yu was disinclined to leave him, when her blue eyes caught sight of the Dragon she knew that in their weakened states, she and Scáth would do little more than get in the way. And so, it was with a heavy heart, and casting one last lingering glance over her shoulder that Yuki bolted.

It didn't take the girl and Pokemon long to come back to the place they had originally started from. When the white-haired girl finally caught sight of daylight ahead she nearly sagged in relief. Gathering her composure, Yuki straightened her shoulders, holding the precious bundle in her arms close. The daylight caused both trainer and Pokemon to squint as their eyes readjusted to being outside after being in complete darkness for such a lengthy time.

Funnily enough, after they'd finished being blinded by the sun, they were instead blinded by cameras. People were in Yuki's face almost instantly, snapping pictures and asking so many questions that she couldn't help to keep up. Scáth, of course, was having none of it, and with a dark growl the weavile let off a small dark pulse attack, effectively backing the reporters and lookers-on up a couple of feet.

Yuki couldn't help it. She giggled. After everything they'd been through in that dreaded cave, Scáth was still her usual prickly self. Now, of course the only way to get back to the hustle and bustle of Blackthorn was with a water type, and unfortunately Yuki didn't have one of her own, nor did she know anyone that did, and she said as much when asked by a wayward reporter. Ah, obviously she shouldn't have said anything at all, for now they were all bombarding her with questions as to how she hoped to get from one place to the other. Well, that was what Scáth was for, after-all.

"Alright then, Scáth, let's make ourselves a path." Yuki murmured, and the sharp claw Pokemon gave a gruff nod. The Pokemon's finger-like claws came together, a blue light beginning to form between them. Then, aiming at the water, the weavile let loose an ice-beam powerful enough to freeze the water just enough to hold stable while Yuki walked across. Everyone twenty or so steps, there would be another flash of blue-white, and the next portion of the water would freeze over before soon melting once more.

The trio continued on this way, and it was quite some time yet before Yuki had made it back into Blackthorn. Once there, the only sensible place to go was the Pokemon Center, and so, she did. Upon arrival, the nurse on call took the now-fainted Swablu back into a room with Scáth following behind grudgingly. The weavile despised these types of places, and so Yuki did her best to make sure she wouldn't have to endure them. Still, sometimes there was little else one could do, and potions could only go so far. In the lobby, the white-haired girl sat, soon dozing off as she waited for her companions to be brought back to good health.
