the city lights all shine too bright
against the chill of anesthesia
at two am, insomnia has taken me
and things are changing rapidly
oh, i would be relieved
if you could tell me all of this was a lie

i had a dream where everyone had disappeared
and in the dead of night
the silence gripped me harder and harder
closing in on my throat
till i could hardly breathe in the solitude

take me to a reactor, cause i--
i wanna dive into the core, i wanna try
don't you think that the light engulfing me
would be beautiful?
take me to a reactor, cause i--
if i could dive into the core
then maybe my sins would be forgiven

i'm not afraid of the dark, alex told himself fiercely, trying to ignore the shadows flickering off the walls of the cavern. the light from maru's aura sphere cast an odd, blue tint over everything around them, and though it was bright, alex had already stumbled into three stalagmites. the dragon's den was mostly silent, save the sound of his echoing footsteps and the faintest of rumbles that seemed to make the ground tremble. alex thought he heard somebody shouting further down in the cave -- the voice could have belonged to hero, but he couldn't be sure -- but the sound faded away as soon as he heard it. shivering, he continued walking forward into the penetrating darkness, pushing up his glasses a bit nervously. maru, who didn't seem to be bothered by the darkness at all, began to fidget on his shoulder, bouncing up and down and butting her head into alex's neck. the light from her aura sphere wavered as she did so, and alex inhaled sharply as the moulted skin of some dragon pokémon was thrown into relief. he stepped around it warily, as if something was going to jump out of it and attempt to claw his face open. "maru!" he hissed, pushing his togekiss away from his face. "stay still, won't you? you're not helping -- oh my arceus-"

alex stumbled backwards as a swarm of zubat collided with his face; they scattered to avoid maru's hastily launched aura sphere, which crashed into the cave's wall and plunged the area into complete darkness. "maru, i need light!" he shouted, reaching around in front of him to avoid walking into another stalagmite -- or, arceus forbid, another swarm of zubats. maru chirped in assent and hopped off his shoulder, but just as she was about to procure another glowing aura sphere, something else leaped out of the darkness and snapped at her wings, jaws glowing. maru was driven out of the air by the force of the attack and tumbled into alex's chest -- he grabbed her quickly, heart racing in panic. "maru," he said urgently."use aura sphere! get whatever's attacking you!" he commanded, his voice rising in volume. maru flew out of his arms and whistled in response; almost at once, a ball of blue energy began gathering in front of her, bringing light to the cave once more. alex's eyes widened in disbelief -- there, in front of him, was a rugged pokémon encased in a silver shell. the shelgon wasn't nearly as impressive as it's fully evolved form, but at this point, alex was rather grateful that he wasn't in the presence of a fully grown salamence. he'd only seen a salamence in his textbooks, and once in real life when the elite four champion trainer, lance, came to visit clair in blackthorn city. wild salamence could easily knock out a tiny little togekiss like maru with a single move, but alex didn't want to think about that right now. he watched in trepidation as maru launched the aura sphere at the shelgon; it attempted to dodge it, but was thrown off its feet as the sphere of energy exploded in the wall next to it. "use nasty plot," alex said, unperturbed by the darkness that had settled over them again. "and if you can see him, use air slash and try to flinch him!"

[[ ahhh shoot, i thought we were supposed to fight/catch the dragons individually. uvu as you can see, i sort of got alex to fight his by himself

uhhm, i guess i'll get alex to catch his shelgon next post, and then he can meet up with some other characters/whoever's open. i'm so sorry for messing up i don't like rping with npcs anyway ]]

something always brings me back to you
    it never takes too long
no matter what i say or do
    i still feel you here
    till the moment i'm gone

    you hold me without touch
    you keep me without chains
i never wanted anything so much
than to drown in your love
    and not feel your reign

set me free, leave me be
i don't want to fall another
    moment into your gravity
here i am and i stand
    so tall, just the way
    i'm supposed to be but
you're onto me, and all over me

you loved me 'cause i'm fragile
when i thought that i was strong
but you touch me for a little while
and all my fragile strength is gone

set me free, leave me be
i don't want to fall another
    moment into your gravity
here i am and i stand
    so tall, just the way
    i'm supposed to be but
you're onto me, and all over me

i live here on my knees
as i try to make you see
    that you're everything i think
i need, here on the ground

but you're neither friend nor foe
though i can't seem to let you go
and the one thing that i still know
is that you're keeping me down

you're onto me, onto me and all over
something always brings me back to you
    it never takes too long

The trip to the Dragon Lair, as she liked to call it, had been a rather short one. After all, Yuki Caust was a local citizen of Blackthorn City, and she had been such all her life. The white-haired girl had grown up with a coordinator for a mother, who always seemed to be traveling, and so the only thing Yuki could remember of the woman before she died was weekly phone-calls and watching her on the TV. The girl's father had been a dragon master, and as her father's daughter Yuki was determined to follow in his footsteps. She sighed slightly, knowing that many thought her far too soft to be a true Dragon Tamer, and her love for ice-types didn't help in the least. Still, Yuki Caust was going to prove herself, and that was why she was here today.

Today was the day that she would find her Dragon, and after she captured it she would begin to train it immediately. Secretly, she hoped for something that wasn't too harsh or hardcore, she was a kind-hearted girl after all and already had her hands full with Scáth. Speaking of which, where had the gruff female Pokemon gotten off to now? Rolling wide blue eyes, Yuki called out for her friend and partner. "Scáth? Scáth where are you?" When there was no reply she began to grow worried, but soon she spotted the Weavile behind a rock snickering.

"Scáth dangit! This is no time to kid aro-" Yuki was abruptly cut off by the loud unmistakable sounds of battling Pokemon. D'ya here tha' bawse?" The pale-skinned girl nodded, smiling widely. "Could be Dragons, lets' go!" The night Pokemon ran ahead of its trainer, since it was far better able to see in the darkened caves than the young girl. Yuki quite easily kept the pace, but skittered to a stop when the source of the noise was revealed.

Within the cave, two twin-headed Pokemon seemed to be having a fight, and not knowing what to do Yuki simply stood by for a moment before she realized Scáth was moving to jump into the battle. Grabbing her friend and partner by an arm, the trainer shook her head. "But bawse? Why caynt I go inna battle too?" The dark-type grumbled, but Yuki shook her head again, not willing to allow her Pokemon to get hurt by the two brawlers.

{ oh my god, you have to use surf to get to the small area where the dragon's den is xc i'm such an idiot, i took a really long break before victory road, so i forgot about blackthorn's landscape. }

    ➢ blaise
the universe has to move forward. pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. whether it's world or relationship, everything has its time. and everything ends.

going to the water's edge, houndoom cautiously looked in, on the very edge as he looked at his reflection. as blaise hesitantly reached down, she pulled out two regular pokéballs, staring at the two for a long moment. come on out, lapras blaise grumbled as the pokéball emitted a red beam, slowly making out a lapras. it gave a stubborn whine, looking away from blaise. houndoom gave an angry snarl at the lapras, bolts emitting from his teeth as he threatened to use thunderfang. houndoom, back. blaise gently spoke, returning the dog to its pokéball. come on, don't make me tell silver. blaise threatened, intimidation on her voice as lapras stood silent. rolling her eyes, blaise took a small step back as she charged forward, jumping at the last second as she roughly landed on the lapras's rocky back. come on, the dragon's den. blaise ordered as the borrowed pokémon stubbornly began to swim across the water, starting to move along the large body of water.

five minutes later, blaise happily hopped off of the water type's back, quickly calling her back in the already held pokéball. silver had to give me his brattiest water type. blaise moaned, instantly taking houndoom back out. as houndoom gave a whine, he tucked his tail between his legs, awaiting the punishment since he was sent to his pokéball. come on, houndoom. blaise spoke, bending down as she gave the dog a quick kiss on the head. blaise wasn't very affectionate. actually, she wasn't affectionate in the least bit. but, houndoom was an exception.

as houndoom gave a happy bark, he instantly perked up as the two began to walk over to clair, who was patiently waiting for them. giving her nothing but a small wink, her and houndoom passed the gym leader as they stepped into the cave, awaiting the dragon type they would catch.

stepping in, the entrance was very hollow, the light from outside barely shining though. looking forward, she saw a small hole and a ladder.
watch your step. blaise warned, walking towards the hole as she slowly began to climb down, the ladder missing very many steps, due to the absence of people. quickly stepping on solid ground again, blaise looked back up as houndoom elegantly leaped down, unharmed and unscarred from the height. pokémon had a weird way of moving. their bodies were more swifter, and more softer, as they weren't as harmed as easily from heights. well, you ready?

xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Cuz' I'm the нero!
›› Theme OST :: Hell Yeah!
›› Pokemon Type :: Dragon & Steel
›› The team :: Blitz

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Arceus, we're sorry! I should have known...Blitz, I hope you're not mad.

The smaller dual mouth pokemon swung back to face the dragon, who oddly knew his name! What was-oh, Oh! The steel type lean back comically to look at the taller pokemon his larger mouth being pushed back against the ground as he looked up, a large grin spreading across his yellow face. OoOoOh, lookie how it iz! Zo ve veren't a dragon, ve vere fighting a head vith a head! Ahahaha! Soon as that was said, the second mouth swung from behind his back, steel fangs flashing in the dim light.

The rouge mouth snapped at Twin's ankle, saliva dripping in buckets from the edges of the larger mouth.
There! Now ve are even! The crazed Mawile laughed, ignoring his trainer, who was being to raise her vioce once she saw WHO it was they were fighting only moments ago.

"Hero! Gosh, I'm sorry...When your Mawile fired that Ice Beam, I thought it came from a dragon."

"Ah great, what are YOU doing here, J?" The short girl snapped, pulling her guitar from her back, holding it to her side like a sword. She snarled, gashing her fang teeth loudly, angry that the effort they just went to the and the battle they were just in was all for nothing. Just a big, boring, STUPID, mistake of identity.

Swinging her weapon of music in front of the blue boys face she continued her rant, not accepting his apology or in the mood to hear any of it. SHE JUST WANTED HER DRAGON ALREADY!! She had been in this dumb cave for three hours! She was tired, wet, hungry, and now angry and even more short tempered then usual.
"And how in de hell do you think we were a dragon!? I mean com'on, wha' kind of dragon knows ice type moves! "

Hero swung her guitar, making sure that the sharper edge faced forward to hopefully hit Johnny's dumb face. "I hope you caught a cold! A bad one, when you leave this Arceus - forsaken cave!"

During her yelling rant, the white hair girl could feel someones eyes on her, starring into her back, and making the hair's one the back of her neck stand up. Growling loudly, she whipped around from Johnny to behind her. On top of a ledge was another human and pokemon, obviously a another dragon trainer in progress by the looks for it. I mean, why else would they be here? Or maybe....they were trying to steal some dragons for themselves! Well it was a bad day for them to come when Hero was here in the caves the every same day!

"And you!" Hero shouted up at the girl with a similar hair color like hers, bet it was dyed, she thought bitterly, narrowing her electric blue eyes up at the pair. "I don't know who you think you are, but I'll tell you this, " Here she jerked a thumb to her chest, tapping it a few times with the tip of her fingernail, "I'm going to get my dragon before any of you losers even SEE yours! Blitz!"

The steel types cocked it's head at his short trainer, his manic grin still in place, "We're leaving! Control yourself and move out!"

Kontrol myzelf? Not that I ever kould, ahahaha!

"And you! I don't know who you think you are, but I'll tell you this," The girl that now seemed to be addressing Yuki paused, tapping a thumb to her chest. "I'm going to get my dragon before any of you losers even SEE yours!" The pale-skinned girl scoffed, rolling deep ocean-blue eyes. She and the girl below her looked so alike, they could have easily been sisters, but that was where the resemblance ended apparently. Heck! Yuki didn't even know this chick and yet she was acting as though they'd been childhood rivals. Well, she would show her.

Shaking her head, the lithe framed girl lept from the minuscule ledge, dust rising into the air as she landed with a light thunk. She gestured behind her, and a second later Scáth was there by her side. "Well, ya'll are just some hot stuff now ain't ya?" The dark-type sneered while looking at its lethal claws. Cocking her head, the Weavile smiled and crossed its arms, amber eyes watching the Pokemon in front of her though she payed no true attention to the trainers.

Yuki on the other hand, stared at the boy and girl now in front of her. Each of there Pokemon were twin headed, and she assumed that they'd been the ones she had heard fighting earlier. So that means no dragons after all. Yuki thought, sighing lightly in disappointment. Where were the dragons? Surely they were in the cave, right? Squaring her shoulders the small girl stared straight into the female trainer's eyes, the one that had addressed her so callously before.

"You keep thinking that, kid, but it won't make it true until it happens." She muttered. Honestly, Yuki wasn't the kind of gal that picked fights with others, especially not in dark dank caves where dragons could attack at any moment. Something about the other white-haired girl, though, set her on edge. Crossing her arms, the trainer looked down at Scáth, patting her somewhat tense partner on the head, a gesture that, between them, meant not to worry.

    ➢ blaise
the universe has to move forward. pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. whether it's world or relationship, everything has its time. and everything ends.

looking around, the enormous cave was impossible to see. but hearing houndoom's claws on the stone, she spoke. flamethrower, and as long as you can do it. blaise finished as houndoom happily obeyed. opening his mouth, a powerful flame soon ignited from the dog's mouth, the cave lighting up, looking around, blaise caught sight of a thick tree branch, most likely fallen off of a tree up above. a few seconds later, the room slowly went back to darkness as blaise looked back at houndoom. one more time, boy. and with that, houndoom breathed out a heavy blast of fire. putting the branch in front of the fire, houndoom soon closed his mouth as the cave stayed illuminated. watch out for pokémon. blaise reminded, houndoom happily giving a bark in response. up ahead, blaise could barely make out the echo's of voices. trainers must already be here. blaise said to houndoom. last night on tv, many news reports talked about the brave seven, venturing into dragon's den after many years. most likely, news teams were already lined up, waiting for one to come out alive.

blaise was quite excited for a new pokémon, since she had battled her way all of this time with only houndoom. she took a large liking to fire, also to dragon. because of that, she loved reshiram. she also wanted many other fire types, like charizard, typhloshion, arcanine, and moltres, along with numerous dragon types.

looking fearlessly around, houndoom sniffed the ground, trying to find a trace of a pokémon. the two had already made it quite far and deep into the cave, and had certainty to get lost. but hearing a faint cry, blaise's head instantly turned around.

>> vaporeon [perseus] >> tagged -- n/a

It was annoyingly cold in Dragon's Den. Of course, Liesel just had to pick the coldest winter's day of the year to go off and explore a mainly-empty cave in the bleak hopes of discovering a dragon. She grumbled quietly to herself as she wrapped her jacket tighter around her shoulders, tucking her chin into her thin navy scarf. Taking a deep breath as she trudged along the rocky cavern, the warm air from her lips came out as a little puff, a childish version of a dragon's breath. At her ankles, Perseus padded along, flicking his long scaled tail as he looked about in the hopes of finding a dragon. There was the occassional rumble or echo, but after a few hours of wandering, that seemed perfectly normal.

"Percy, I think I give up." she pouted in defeat, scuffing her shoes against the cave floor. The Vaporeon plopped down on a ledge, giving a stubborn glare at their surroundings. Stupid dragons practically dropping off the face of the planet. With a little more wandering, the pair came to a shallow-looking pool. Perseus dived into it simply for the sake of having nothing better to do. Liesel, on the other hand, sat down at the edge of the dull pool and peered down into it. It didn't look like anything strange or queer - just a shallow pool with a few reeds growing through the cracks in the rocks. However, to her surprise, it was apparently a lot deeper than she thought. It was only when Percy resurfaced in a wild ruckus that Liesel began to question the odd pool. Frowning, she looked down into the dark water and looked at her friend, who pointed his tail downwards pointedly. If she peered very closely, she could see something.. a glimmer?

Kicking off her shoes and shuffling out of her jacket, Liesel shivered in the cold air before taking a deep breath and diving into the water. The ice cold ran over her skin and she nearly gasped underwater upon the drastic change of temperature. Her thoughts wheeled back to the important situation at hand. Perseus wouldn't have made a big deal for nothing. Her fingers clutched on to Vaporeon's sleek shoulders as he propelled downwards, deeper and deeper into the pool. Squinting through the fresh water, she could faintly make out a dim light up ahead.. an exit, perhaps? Maybe she should have worn her shoes.

It wasn't exactly an exit, though. Instead, when she pushed up to the surface and hungrily gulped in mouthfuls of air, Liesel found that they had arrived in a hidden cavern. Overhead was a gap between the rock ceiling, revealing the outside world. Icicles dripped from the tall ceiling and there were various other small pools impregnated in the sharp rocks. Pulling herself up out of the water with Percy's aid, she caught her breath - which she had been holding for quite a while - and looked about. They were alone, it seemed.

Well, all alone save for the baby Dratini struggling out of a nearby pool.

Frantically scrambling up, but trying not to scare the poor thing, Liesel edged her way towards the tiny dragon. It stared at her with wide, fearful eyes. The continual drip-drip of her soaked hair echoed in the small cave. "Vapa," Perseus said quietly, flicking his tail slowly as he padded towards the struggling Dratini. There wasn't another moment to lose - the little guy was frantic and panicking, obviously not used to such deep pools of water. Scurrying as carefully as she could towards the critter, trying not to startle it, Liesel eased her hand out towards the small Pokémon. Meanwhile, Percy slipped into the water and just about stopped the Dratini from sliding into its icy depths. Shushing gently, she picked the poor thing up in her hands delicately, desperately trying to ease the creature's unease. How were they supposed to get out? There was no way the shivering Dratini was going back in one of those pools in a hurry, that was for sure..

But there was that gap overhead. It was small, but maybe.. Standing up and cradling the baby Dratini in her arms, Liesel edged around the cave, climbing the narrow ledges as high up as possible. With Vaporeon wracking his hard tail against the ceiling, he managed to knock another rock free from its hold, making the gap somewhat bigger. Taking a moment to prepare herself, she quickly lunged off the ledge, Dratini in one arm and her other hand grasping ahold of the rock. Her hand got a deep gash but she gritted her teeth and sharply pulled her lack of weight upwards. Clawing her way up, Liesel somehow managed to escape, Percy leaping out effortlessly behind her. The cold winter air nipped at her bare, wet skin - and just to make things worse, it was starting to snow again, a fresh layer over the thick cloak hanging over Blackthorn.

Johnny Casil

((Sorry. Had some computer troubles. Got it back working tho!))

OoOoOh, lookie how it iz! Zo ve veren't a dragon, ve vere fighting a head vith a head! Ahahaha! The crazed Mawile said, with his funny accent. Twin relaxed with a slight sigh. Then the second head swung forward and--

Owww! Twin reared back like a real life horse and stumbled away. His ankle glowed a bright red with little scratch marks from Blitz's second head's teeth. Dang, that hurt...He hoped Blitz didn't know any biting-based moves...That would hurt like hell.

There! Now ve are even! Blitz said. Twin was about to glare at the little devil, but he had to agree. He did use Shadow Ball...That wouldn't have hurt the Steel-type much, but still...

I guess so... Twin mumbled. Meanwhile, his trainer was dealing with Blitz's trainer, who was not taking this well...

"Ah great, what are YOU doing here, J?"

Johnny paled. Great, she was mad. Well, that wasn't hard to accomplish with Hero...She had the reputation of being a piece of work. Lots of people were scared of her. He wasn't, but that's probably because he didn't know her too well.

[color=#0000BF]"Same thing as you, looking for a dragon!"
He protested. She whipped her guitar out in front of him and he took a step back.

"And how in de hell do you think we were a dragon!? I mean com'on, wha' kind of dragon knows ice type moves! "

"Lots of 'em! Didn't Lance own a Dragonite who knew Ice Beam!?" He shouted right back, only to get hit in the temple with her guitar. He yelped and grabbed his head, doubling over. She shouted something at him again, but he wasn't paying attention any more. Twin ran to his side to help him. Nny! You okay? Stand up!

Hero was leaving. Her Mawile was laughing too. Arceus, Johnny should really get his reflexes checked. He should be able to dodge that...He always dodges the opponents moves in battles when they came too close. Dang...Oh well. It will heal.

Johnny stood up with a wince as his head pounded in protest. Now he was alone in the cave...Wait, no he wasn't. There was another girl here--another one with white hair. Who was she? He didn't know of any other white-haired girls. And she had a Weavile...

"Oh...Hey. Didn't see you there. I'm Johnny, and this is Twin. Who are you?" He introduced, pointing to the Girafarig next to him. Twin raised his heads up, one eternally grinning and one curious.

something always brings me back to you
    it never takes too long
no matter what i say or do
    i still feel you here
    till the moment i'm gone

    you hold me without touch
    you keep me without chains
i never wanted anything so much
than to drown in your love
    and not feel your reign

set me free, leave me be
i don't want to fall another
    moment into your gravity
here i am and i stand
    so tall, just the way
    i'm supposed to be but
you're onto me, and all over me

you loved me 'cause i'm fragile
when i thought that i was strong
but you touch me for a little while
and all my fragile strength is gone

set me free, leave me be
i don't want to fall another
    moment into your gravity
here i am and i stand
    so tall, just the way
    i'm supposed to be but
you're onto me, and all over me

i live here on my knees
as i try to make you see
    that you're everything i think
i need, here on the ground

but you're neither friend nor foe
though i can't seem to let you go
and the one thing that i still know
is that you're keeping me down

you're onto me, onto me and all over
something always brings me back to you
    it never takes too long

"Oh...Hey. Didn't see you there. I'm Johnny, and this is Twin. Who are you?" Yuki paused for a moment, uncomfortable with the way the Girafarig, otherwise known as Twin's second head was grinning at her. When Scáth poked her in the side with one sharp claw, she jolted, giving a small tentative smile. "Oh er I'm Yuki Caust, and this is my partner Scáth". The white-haired girl giggled as her unscoscial Pokemon gave a regal nod by way of greeting.

Truth was, Scáth was anxious to be off. The dark black fur along the creatures neck tingled and stood on end, and she could almost taste fresh air. But wait, that couldn't be possible, could it? Perking up, the Pokemon raised it's head, scenting the air as best it could. Aha! So, there was fresh air flowing into the maze of caves from near by, but where?

Yuki, noticing Scáth's odd behaviour, looked down at her friend. A look passed between them, but the bubbly girl would feel bad if she simply up and left her new companion without any explanation. Biting her lip, she gave Johnny a small smile. "Uh well, it was nice meeting you and all, but we should really get going." While she spoke the aspiring dragon tamer edged away from the boy, completely forgetting that the hard-core rocker chick was still there until she nearly tripped over her, much to Scáth's amusement. "S-sorry! Best of luck with your Dragon Hunting!" She yelped, and without another word both girl and Pokemon took off down the path disappearing into the darkness ahead.

Soon, the two had gotten a good distance away, having taken many winding paths and Yuki finally addressed the Weavile beside her. "So, what did you smell back there?" She asked, blue eyes just barely able to discern her partner in the darkness. "Well baws, I thought I smelled some fresh air some where 'round here, I can still kinda' feel a draft, but I can't tell just where it's comin' from." The Pokemon's southern drawl never failed to make Yuki smile brightly, and barely suppressing a giggle the girl suggested that they stop for a while to rest.

And so, sitting against a cave wall, with only a small flashlight illuminating the patch of space around them, Pokemon and trainer ate their food. That is, they ate until they were interrupted by the unmistakable cries of a Pokemon in danger. At first, Yuki wasn't sure if her ears were playing tricks on her or not, she'd heard a lot of stories about people going crazy in caves before. But when Scáth sat up, ears swiveling, the white-haired girl knew she'd not been mistaken. "Baws?" "I hear, Scáth, c'mon." Packing their meager left-overs up, the pair made their way towards the sounds, and Yuki was extremely grateful for the fresh, cold breezes that swept in through the cave.

Woah woah woah. Wait a minute. Fresh air? Cold breezes? The team took off at a run, relishing in the cold mountain air that brushed against them, and before long flurries of snow began to blow around them. However, as the two rounded the next corner, they were met not with cave floor, but open air. Down, down, down, they plummeted, landing harshly in snow some few feet below the cave mouth that they had apparently excited. Shaking snow from their bodies, the two looked around, realizing they must be in a snow-filled crater of some sort. Movement flashed to the left, and without thinking Scáth lunged, pinning the now struggling mystery creature to the snow-covered floor. "Scáth! What are you doing?!" Yuki cried, grabbing the Pokemon by a shoulder and prying her away from the tiny ball of fluff quaking beneath her lethally sharp claws.

Realizing that the Pokemon before her was none other than a little Swablu, Yuki felt immediately sorry that her partner had scared the poor little puff. Crouching down, the white-haired female reached out a hand, giving the frightened Pokemon a gentle smile. "There now, she cooed, "It's okay, no one is going to hurt you, I promise." It took some coaxing, and some hard-pressed silence from Scáth who stood by ready to attack if the wild Pokemon tried any funny business, but finally the tiny bird-like creature darted into Yuki's lap, much to her surprise and happiness.

Still cooing to the little fluff-ball, Yuki stood, holding the Swablu securely in her arms. "Now, we just have to figure a way out of here.." She murmured. It was obvious to her that the bird Pokemon had likely been blown into the crater by the storm, and the swirling winds above them probably hadn't made it easy for the poor thing to escape, and now they were all trapped here. "Baws.. I don't think I can climb that wall right there, covered in ice like it is.." Scáth murmured, and Yuki nodded her head. Yes, there was only one thing left to do. Hello? Help! We need help down here!" She called, praying that someone, anyone, would hear their cries and come to their rescue.

the city lights all shine too bright
against the chill of anesthesia
at two am, insomnia has taken me
and things are changing rapidly
oh, i would be relieved
if you could tell me all of this was a lie

i had a dream where everyone had disappeared
and in the dead of night
the silence gripped me harder and harder
closing in on my throat
till i could hardly breathe in the solitude

take me to a reactor, cause i--
i wanna dive into the core, i wanna try
don't you think that the light engulfing me
would be beautiful?
take me to a reactor, cause i--
if i could dive into the core
then maybe my sins would be forgiven

alex breathed heavily as he pressed himself against the cold rock wall behind him -- the darkness was making him clumsy, though it looked like maru wasn't having any trouble seeing despite the blackness around them. although he couldn't see anything, he could hear maru fighting with the shelgon. it was an odd feeling, not being able to participate in the battle alongside his lifelong partner, but he trusted maru to get the job done -- despite her clumsiness, she was a fighter at heart and once she committed to something, she would see it through to the end. still, his jaw clenched as every minute of the battle passed by -- he felt increasingly helpless as crashes and high-pitched whistles of energy echoed around the cave. "maru, be careful!" he called, squinting through the darkness. damn his bad eyesight! if only he'd thought to bring a pokémon that knew flash... as soon as he said that, he was rewarded with a mouthful of feathers as maru collided with his head. he almost dropped her in surprise, but managed to get a good hold on her bottom. he looked down at her concernedly, trying to appraise her current condition -- was she hurt? he petted her head. "where's the shelgon? did you knock it out?" alex asked, pushing himself off of the wall and taking a small step forward. "maru? come on, what happened?" he reached into his pocket almost instinctively, his fingers curling over a pokéball.

maru chirped in reply -- it was a weak, tired sound, but alex could hear an underlying tone of triumph in her tone, which meant that she had been successful, after all. she righted herself in his arms before summoning another bright-blue aura sphere. alex blinked rapidly at the sudden burst of light, but his heart leaped at the sight of the battered shelgon before them. its skin was crackling with electricity, a clear indication that it was paralyzed. alex swallowed hard as he withdrew the pokéball from his pocket and pressed his thumb over the button. it grew in his palm until it was roughly the size of a large orange, and then, with one last deep breath [because he was about to catch his first dragon and his heart was beating so fast he could hardly breathe] he hurled the ultra ball at the shelgon. it opened at the last second, enveloping the shelgon in a mysterious red light before capturing it and clicking shut. alex clutched maru tightly as he watched the pokéball rock back and forth on the ground; there was a strange feeling churning his insides -- something like fear and nervousness and trepidation all bundled up into a knot of emotion. when the pokéball stopped moving and chimed twice, signaling a successful capture, alex couldn't do anything but stare at it. then, as realization began to dawn on him, he broke out into a wide grin.

"maru, you did it!" he laughed, hugging his togekiss close to him. "we caught a dragon!"

after stooping over to pick up the pokéball on the ground, now housing one male shelgon, alex began to make his way out of the dragon's den. it was much easier to get out than in -- all he had to do was backtrack his steps, then follow the path with light at the end of it. when he finally emerged from the dragon's den, shivering [there was a whole lot of snow on the ground that hadn't been there that morning] he bounced maru in his arms a bit, like a parent would to his baby. she looked rather worse for the wear, with a slightly bent wing and an assortment of scrapes and shallow cuts covering her back. he smiled apologetically at her. "i'll take you to the pokecenter as soon as we get back to blackthorn, okay?" he promised, stroking her soft feathers. she let out a low whine and burrowed her head further into alex's arms. sighing, he walked to the water's edge -- where was clair and her gyarados when he needed her? the cold wind was beginning to bite through his jacket, and the tips of his fingers were growing numb. he looked around the entrance of the cave desperately -- and he supposed it was just his luck when liesel emerged from the depths of the cave, sopping wet, but clutching a small, baby dratini in her arms. "liesel," he said, walking over to her and frowning at her disheveled appearance. "congratulations on catching your dragon." he remarked, nodding at the dratini she was carrying. "do you mind taking us back to blackthorn? i need to take maru to the pokémon center."
