henry's eyes narrowed, he didn't answer for some time, also jumping the log. after a moment or two his gaze softened, but he still didn't answer, consentrating on the path infront of him.

song came to a simi open space, a cavern like part of the forest where the canapy was thick and the ground strong. small patches of grasses and moss dotted the light dappled ground. "come on you slowpokes! i'm even going to wait for you. might as well tell yall where we're going."

i miss home." the little black cat said simply.

sorta...you still look cute ither way." scot smiled at her, flicking more water at her.

"oh." Zanna sat, silent for a moment. "i guess i would too, if i had anyone back home." she whispered.

"we're actually going somewhere?" asked sly taking his eyes off of henry to look at song (he had been using his ears to navigate)

"aw thanks...wait do you smell that?" Jessy asked getting to her paws

wha'?" the otter shifted around to look at the skunk better, "ya' mean that bird? or do ya have a surprise for me that i may or may not like?"

"mmhumm!" ssong nodded, prancing about. "and i just might not tell you if you don't catch up ya shortleged docksons!"

henry just watched her with a mildy interested gase...trying not to seem like he was a bit interested. he was caught sneeking and he knew it, he slid to a stop still a ways away, watchfull of both the black wolves...unsure of what they may do.

"well i don't eather...not anybody that cares anyway." he rolled the leaf around the berries so they wouldn't fall out while he carried them, "not anymore."

Zanna worked in silence, not sure how to respond.

look," he managed a twich of a smile at the irony, "i lived alone with my gramps untill he died...then when he died nobody esle in my family would claim me....so i just stayed in his old hut out by the beach and stuck it out...untill that letter arived i thought the whole world had forgoten me." he pushed the already leaf wraped berries into neat rows so that they could easyly be found when they made the trips to and from the den, and started on another, "sometimes i wish i was like henry, with no idea about my past...but that's not going to happen."

Zanna sighed. "I lived with my sister in an orpanage, but then she got really sick and died. then I ran away."

"i guess this is a truce for now" said sly to henry

jessy jumped behind scot "its the eagle from yesterday...hide me"

"they've spotted me" Samson thoought to himself

ah come on...'e ain't gonna do ya nothen..most eagles is fish eaters anyway." scot looked up at the bird, "why naw come down 'ere and have a chat. we ain't gonna do you nothen, are we jessy?"

henry nodded but kept his distance, ready to run or fight if the need for ither arose.

well we're going to another open medow! there's lots of stuff to eat there, bugs, fish, fruit, and even some sweet berries!" song woofed in a singsongy voice, "it's not quite so big as the one where i'm living but it's still great all the same. and there's a deeper stream that flows so slowly you can swim in it.!"

not much up for a bath today,- henry thought. then quietly, standing strait with ears and tail up he woofed, "may i join you? i'd only ask that i watch. i have no realy interest in such activities save mabie fishing."

well you've still got a family out there somewhere that cares." he flicked his tail, "the people at orfaniges don't give up on kids that easily. i know. had a friend who was in one before my gramps died, but he got adopted by this big rich family and moved away. never heard from him again."

Zanna flicked her tail. "i guess at the good ones you do, but when its just a small little town, no one really cares if a few come up missing. several of the guys left one day, they never looked for them."
