Kaira looked over at the other wolves. She was nervous, but happy at the same time. She pawed at the water again. Why was I chosen to be a Star Wolf? She thought. She looked up at the moon and smiled as she tilted her head. Kaira basked in the moon's light. It was beautiful.

Eiko raised her head again, a little sad look in her brown eyes. She sighed a bit guiltily, looking down at the loner's still unmoving face and snout, ears flattening on her furry skull. With a small frown and a long breath, she turned around and give up on waking the wolf up.
The grey she-wolf's irises caught Kiara's little face and the small smile floating on her lips as she looked at the moon. Eiko neared her, pulling gently on the sides of her mouth and softly setting her eyes on the child. At first she said nothing, mind and throat sealed by the soothing silence of the silver pool. She listened to the giggle of the water tumbling into the liquid mirror and wrinkling its dancing surface with a bright laugh. She bathed in the caressing white hand of light that the moon held out at them. But she spoke, without even knowing really why. "You're happy?" she asked softly, pausing for a tiny, balanced instant, "I was just nervous..."
