The wolf kept walking towards his opponent. Some part of him told him he shouldn't be surprised Leo wasn't attacking him. Rumor had circulated that Leo had run away from the camp for unknown reasons - some said he was cowardly. Was it any surprise with that in mind that he wasn't attacking his opponent now? The smaller wolf scoffed.

"Each wolf has their own style indeed. That sounds like something a pup would say after they blundered through a front swipe and tripped over their own paws." He remarked snarkily. "No, Mom, I didn't trip, I meant to do that, it's my style!" His voice pitched higher to imitate a puppy's whine and he rolled his eyes. His opponent was fast; was he planning on slamming into Lucas? He was certain he could handle it, but did he have to take the full brunt of it to his chest? No... He turned his body as his opponent got ever closer. He was able to flash a showman's smile to his Alpha, his Trainer, as he dropped into a low crouch. It would surely be too late for his opponent to try to leap over him. Would he still try to jump, or was it entirely too late and he'd end up tripping over Lucas and eating dirt? The wolf would find out in a few moments.

Tendril pricked her ears as Crow instructed her. It was a pretty creative lesson, to be honest, though it was a little difficult. The lithe she-wolf ducked her muzzle for a second, doing her best to recall all that she had learned these past moons. Taking a deep breath, she lifted her head again and trotted up to Crow’s shoulder. Admittedly, she never had really thought that telling absolute difference between the same species of prey had been very useful. Now that she thought about it, the Hunter Trainee could see her error.
“I know most of them, if I’m being true,” she started, hopping over a small stream. “Rabbits, mice, finches, pheasants, squirrels, elk, deer, unfortunately fish..” Tendril listed off, furrowing her brow as she spoke. “To start, rabbits have a sort of musky, earthen scent, thanks to all of those burrows that they dig everywhere. Elk smell like misty air, while deer carry the scent of a summer forest. Squirrels have the unmistakeable wood-like stench, seeing as their nests are usually inside of trees or somewhere up in the branches.” Tendril swatted a branch aside, raising her muzzle for a heartbeat to, ironically, smell anything nearby. Were they close to the river yet?
“Pheasants are like brittle grass, while sparrows and finches have the scent of... wind?” The she-wolf paused, lowering her ears slightly. She drew in another breath and glanced at Crow, hoping at least a few she’d said were correct.

Accalia tilted her head, not bothering to hide her smile, “Well then, I’ll make sure to spare some time to talk with Alpha Shadow. I’m glad you’ve made this decision; I know it may not have been easy.” The Healer mentioned, shuffling and lifting herself to a sitting position. “I’ll be more than happy to teach you all I know.”

Leo was fine. He knew how some of the others saw him. He knew some wolves were uncertain, some thought he had run away due to being a coward. Maybe he had, but he’d come back determined not to be afraid anymore, and he surely couldn’t be afraid of a sparring match. That was just stupid! Leo was fine until he heard Lucas' commentary. He didn’t know if a clumsy coward was how Lucas really saw him, that maybe the other Trainee was just hangout out with him out of pity, or if it was part of his game, but it made his blood boil all the same.

"I’m not a pup! And I am not clumsy or weak!" Leo snapped, pale blue eyes narrowing. He turned rather suddenly to try and slam his weight into his opponent, his adrenaline fuelling him to keep going. Keep going even if his attacks were dodged or blocked time and again. I'm training to become a Warrior, I can’t afford to back down, or to take insults laying down.

“Thank you,” Nova said bowing her head. “I know it might be hard, if you ever need help with him please just ask me. He might not behave too well at times,” She said looking down at Aloe. She was very proud of him. Even if he wasn’t a warrior, she would still support him forever.

The wolf that resembled Lucas, if only in appearance, turned his head towards Leo's paws and surged forward. He was close enough that his jaws snapped around Leo's front leg and he stood, grunting and pulling Leo with him. Would it unbalance him? Would he fall over?

If Leo wanted to stop being treated like a pup, he would have to stop acting like one. The wolf refused to let up, tasting blood from Leo's leg. Something deep within him cried out, but drawing blood was okay. His Alpha and Trainer had said it was fine. He just needed to take care not to break the leg. It was thick enough, not like a deer leg, that he doubted he'd be able to... Still.

He growled deep in his throat, burying himself deeper. Feelings would only get in the way and no one would save him in the heat of a battle. He moved slowly with the exertion. Maybe his opponent would cry out in pain and call for surrender early. Maybe all of this could stop before it really started. Was his Trainer proud?

The white Trainee yelped in surprise as he was grabbed, thrown WELL off balance. Well that hadn’t been the desired effect. Leo was only vaguely aware of Shadow's watchful eye on them, and as much as he wanted to see her reaction, he did not turn to look at her, humiliating as it was to be thrown off guard.

He blinked, dizzy for a moment, then glanced down briefly at his leg, bleeding. Strangely, he had felt the surprise and loss of balance more than any pain, but he suspected that was largely due to his adrenaline. Stupid. Weak. Clumsy. Coward. All the things he had been called since his return, things he’d been determined not to be. The insults raced through his mind, both distracting and energizing him. Leo quickly reached forward to try and snap at his opponent's flank, try to free himself and throw LUCAS off a bit.

“Of course,” Accalia responded, dipping her head in a manner of respect. She herself didn’t quite see Aloe as misbehaved, but then again, only a mother knows her pups the best. “I’ll be sure to come to you, first thing.” The Healer’s promised, flashing yet another pleased smile.

The scent trail took Zeus in a relatively straightforward path. She ducked around the occasional path, but it eventually brought her to a densely wooded area. Finally allowing herself to breathe, she started to sniff around the surrounding area, trying to pick up the scent again and figure out where it headed. Was it in the hollowed out tree that faced away from where they stood? Or was it around those bushes? Did the scent actually double back and take them back through the way they came.

"The trail ends here." She informed Fish. "Keep a weary eye out, the intruders could be somewhere nearby."

Lucas watched through eyes that were not quite his, feeling queasy that he'd bitten hard enough into Leo to draw blood. On the other side of things, the wolf that was also Lucas-but not quite, grunted as he felt teeth clamp down onto his flank. He bit down harder into the leg he was holding and thrashed his head from side to side. He growled louder, but something within him was building.

He let go of the leg and shoved himself to his paws, hoping to disengage from the teeth in his back.
"Is that all you got?" He snarled. "One bite, is that all the mighty Alpha's son has in him?" He barked and writhed, doing what he could to rip away from Leo, even if he lost a chunk of him in the process. "Why don't you keep to your word, stop going easy on me, and actually show me what you're made of!?"
