The Arcane Forest (Mythical Horse RP) Accepting

When this world started there were seven forests filled with magic and creatures.

One forest was guarded by the gargoyles, beasts that looked of stone, turned to statues as they slept or when they needed to heal. They didn’t eat but still spent much of their time farming as the soil in their forest was excellent quality, they grew both food for others and herbs to trade.

One forest was guarded by dragons, the largest of the forest and calling it a forest wasn’t exactly true. There were mountains there and an active volcano. The dragons were able to withstand the heat of the volcano and aided in keeping it from erupting. The dragons mined there in the ore heavy caves, trading those ore to others. They also harvested an item called magma stones, these were used by those who wished to warm an area or forge.

Then there was the snowy forest of the gryphons. Wild cat and bird hybrids, their thick coat protected them in the ice. They were craftsmen, who could turn raw material into anything the others needed. Their skillful talons and mobility allowed for excellent craftsmanship.

Next were the dark forests of the chimeras and manticores, the two races shared guardianship of their forest. The chimeras being of three beasts together and the manticores the winged lions with a scorpion tail. These creatures were much like the dragons and mined in their darkened tunnels, but often came out with gems rather than ore.

Then there was a jungle, home of the minotaurs and centaurs, these creatures lived together as the masters of forging. Armors, weapons, tools, decorative items. They traded with the dragons and the chimeras often but otherwise were known for sticking to themselves.

The sixth forest belonged to Cerebus and other canine creatures including black dogs, orthrus, even the powerful nordic wolves. These creatures known for their ability to keep intruders out and how far their voices carried were not known for trading much but did allow others to take the hides of anything they killed for food.

Finally there was the Arcane Forest. This forest was the center, the one that held all others together. Guarded by the horses of legend, pegasus, unicorns, nightmares, alicorns, kelpie, and others all called this place home, they all knew magic well and held it close. They looked to the statues of Arion and Sleipnir, considered the founders of the Arcane Forest. As long as the Arcane Forest stood the others would as well. At the center of the Arcane Forest were a set of ruins, with portals to the other forests, this was the Crossroads, where all creatures could travel to and go to another forest to trade or aid with a situation. Of course things change. The portals to the other forests have started to turn black and denied entry. The herds of the forest have been called to gather, for this can only mean that there is danger coming.

Rules

ABOUT and RULES

This RP will be centered on the Arcane Forest and thus magical horses.
It is plot based and focus, there’s always room for other things though! But the plot itself will be the focus.
Other creatures from the other forests can be used in the RP, but they will not be introduced at the start and they can never outnumber the horses, it must always AT LEAST be a 2:1 balance.
There is more than one herd in the forest, but there are 3 main ones. They’ve been called together by the largest herd. Smaller herd exist but they tend to only have around 5 horses.
Horses in this forest can live for hundreds of years, 4 is considered fully matured but normal horses can continue to develop until 6. No horse in the forest is over 500 years old anymore, and most are well under 300 years of age with the vast majority being ages 4-50 and considered the new generation.

All OOC and Characters Forms must be taken to the Discussion Thread.

Rules of the RP
1. Above all else, use logic. Skilled fighters won’t struggle against a novice fighter. Equal fighters will struggle and won’t dodge any attack. If you’re making your character dodge everything and land every hit, it will not end well.
2. If your character does something stupid more than once, they will have consequences and that could be death.
3. Grammar and spelling are important. No text talk, mistakes happen but try. I understand typos and autocorrects. Please also give everyone something to work with when you reply, we can’t reply to one word posts.
4. Please avoid writing in the first person, it’s disorienting to go from reading third person replies to a first person.
5. Give people something to work with in terms of your reply. As in no one word replies

Character Rules:
1. Balance is everything. Powers are allowed but stronger powers need a weakness. Your character can’t be strong against everything and I will not take “Doesn’t trust anyone” as the only weakness for something strong, that’s a character trait and flaw, which yes your character should have flaws but that doesn’t balance out powers.
2. You can have as many characters as you want.
3. This is not run like a normal herd of horses, there are different ranks. Please only take three higher ranks, you can earn others later.
4. As mentioned before other creatures can be used but don’t go overboard.
5. Herd sizes are predetermined, if NPCs are needed they can be added to those herds. You don’t need a character forum for a NPC unless you’re planning on using them often.
6. You can use your own form but all info on the one provided in the OOC section must be followed.
7. You can use a picture of a normal horse then describe anything extra like antlers, wings, horns and so on. Most pictures of mythical creatures are copyrighted images, so please if you need to use just the normal picture and describe.
8. Please note the ages when creating your character, using a human age to show the mental maturity of your horse is fine.

About

Postby Dracowolf » Thu Aug 02, 2018 5:25 pm

ABOUT THE HERDS:

Arcane Herd
The original herd that lives near the portals. The largest and most well respected of the herds, they are often looked to as the main leader. Ruled by a King and his Queen, their bloodline is said to date back to the original herd that founded the forest. The offspring of the the king and queen are highly respected as one of them will be chosen to rule once the King chooses to step down. The next high ranks are that of the Royal Guard, they exist to protect the King and Queen. There are also the regular guards who protect the portals and keep the peace there. Then the healers who tend to the wounds of any creature that comes to them. Finally there are gatherers who handle food, and traders who deliver items either through the portals or to other herds who need food or other supplies. Royal Guards are easy to see as they wear specialty armor created by forgemasters for them out of respect. Often guards here will have spent a year with the Thunder Tail Herd. Both guards and the Royal Guards answer to a single Lead Royal Guard.

Thunder Tail Herd
Known for living on the edge of the forest this is a warrior herd, the second largest of the herds. They are led by a single General and their Second. They contain scouts and warriors. Often they will carry their sick to the Arcane Herd and get extra supplies from them as well. In exchange, the Thunder Tail Herd helps train the guards. They typically don’t get along with Fire Mane Herd, as there has been chaos between them. Often members of the Thunder Tail Herd will have pieces of armor draping their body given to them from the Minotaur forge masters or the gryphon craftsmen. None of them have a full matching set though except those of the highest rank.

Fire Mane Herd
Created during a rebellion about eight hundred years ago, this herd is the smallest. They often try to remain independent of all other herds. They rebelled as they didn’t see why they must be bound to the forest, why they must guard the forest constantly. They often were horses who didn’t like their jobs, being told they couldn’t go for a certain job for one reason or another. Led by a Lead Stallion and Lead Mare, they have scouts, fighters, gathers and usually one healer.

Re: The Arcane Forest (Mythical Horse RP) Accepting

Hiya, I'd like to join the rp. Character is made in a dressup game cuz I can't draw, sorry ;W;

Name: Bolt
Age: 10 (in human years)
Advantages: Nice, funny, fast, strong, brave (still scared of a frog).
Disadvantages: As I mentioned before, scared of a frog, can be agressive or rude, doesn't trust adult horses, might be an edgy potato.
Powers: He can only make a creature or item float in air, that's all. No, he can't drag it around. Still need to look into the spellbook.
Backstory: His mother was an unicorn, same as his father. When he was born, they weren't surprised he's got a horn. When he was 3, they noticed something was growing on his head. These were his antlers! As he grew bigger, the antlers got bigger too. When he was 7, he got abandoned because of almost killing her sister when playing with her. From this moment, he didn't trust any adults, only foals. His family is now dead, but he's cool with it and he hopes he'll live a happy live.

Hope I'll get accepted ;W;

Please take characters to the character and discussion thread

Otherwise a good start, but you'll find the parts missed on the sample form there (Herd, rank, ect.). It just keeps this thread cleaner.
