𝙸𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚢𝚎𝚊𝚛 𝟸𝟶𝟷𝟾, 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚕𝚍 𝚌𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚊𝚗 𝚎𝚗𝚍 . . .

It started off innocent. The occasional stray dog becoming aggressive towards humans
and other animals, typical enough. It did not really surprise anyone, or raise any
attention. However it started to spread to beloved house pets, family dogs who never
showed a tooth before. This was when people started to worry.

A new disease was identified and it was unlike anything humans have ever encountered.
The more it was studied the more fear it brought to people. What if it mutates to infect
humans? It was not a risk anyone was willing to take. Instead of working on a cure, it was
decided that all dogs were to be eradicated immediately.

Now, almost a year after the original outbreak, dogs are struggling to remain alive. All
canines are to be killed on sight and dogs hide in fear not only of humans but of "the
glow". The infected dogs can easily be identified by their luminious eyes, giving the
disease it's name. They are mindless shells of their past selves, succumbed to the disease.

𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚒𝚜 '𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚐𝚕𝚘𝚠'?

'the glow' is a viral infection which targets the brain.
It is a disease which, at the moment, only infects
canines but future mutations may allow it to infect
other species. It is highly contagious and dangerous.
The disease is usually transferred from one host to
the next by bites. For this reason, infected hosts
very rarely kill healthy canines. Instead, their goal is
to infect them but also weaken the new host so that
the disease can spread quickly and easily to the brain
while the immune system focuses on rebuilding the
host's body. Once the brain is infected, it shuts off most
of the hosts systems and focuses on enhanced strength,
spreed and senses. However, the host normally lives only
a few weeks after reaching the final stage of infection.

{ stage one } head-aches, joint pains,insomnia,
irritability, fatigue
{ stage two } fuzzy vision, dizziness, impatience,
increased salivation, itchy gums which encourages chewing
which can spread the disease, sensitive to noise and light,
abdominal pain, vomiting (due to organs shutting down),
eyes may glow for a few seconds or 'spark' which can be
slightly painful or tingly. lack of appetite but increased thirst.
{ stage three } extreme aggression, enhanced senses,
excessive salivation, very little self control, dull eye glow.
{ stage four } infection has complete control over the
host's body. Mindlessness. Glowing eyes. Extreme aggression.
The dog feels no emotions and possesses no memories of
their past lives.

➸ 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: after the dogs were under significant thread, many retreated into the forest surrounding
the city. this was where the pack was formed. while it is relatively safe from humans, occasionally they
do enter the forest. prey is also scarce so dogs are often forced to scavenge in the city at night time.
➸ 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩: the pack's camp is located in a forest clearing, formed after a fire broke out some years ago.
While the greenery has recovered, trees have not grown back. The clearing also has many logs and
burrows which can be used as dens.
➸ 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲: the city is a dangerous place to go to but sometimes, the pack has no choice. Night time
is best but they are still in great danger if spotted by humans. Bins are great places to find pieces of
food but large amounts of food are hard to find.
➸ 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲: for whatever reason, the infected dogs are attracted to the quarry. Some suspect that
this is where their camp is, and that infected form a 'pack' of their own. No one really knows, because not
many are brave enough to find out.
➸ 𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞: this house stands in the middle of the forest and has been empty for years. It provides
good shelter and sometimes the pack moves here during extreme weather. However they tend to avoid
staying there for long, partially because it leaves them cornered if they are found but also because it
occasionally has fresh scents of humans.
