Dog With Powers
[ DISCUSSION THREAD ]

- A virus known as the Nine Virus (Aka; 9), getting it's name from the 'nine' in 'canine' and the number '9', spread through dogs like wildfire. Within only three months, nearly the entire population of dogs was falling sick to the new diseases. It was an disease spread by being in close proximity to other dogs with the virus, no-where was safe.
People were advised to keep their dogs inside in a desperate attempt to stop the disease from spreading any-more while researches could search for a cure, although by this point it was much too late. For the most part, the virus was something that didn't seem to harm the dogs after the first stage had been completed, and so people did not seem to see the virus as anything more than an inconvenience...That was until a revolution broke out.
It only took a small number of dogs, not even 5% of the population, to turn and bite. The media was on fire and hysteria broke out:
"VIRUS 9; THE END OF MANKIND?" "BOY GETS HAY FEVER! COULD IT BE VIRUS 9?" "DOG EXTINCTION THE SOLUTION?"
It didn't matter that mans best friend remained as mans best friend, those few dogs had struck fear into the hearts of many humans and a new order was processed:
All dogs were to be banished to an uninhabited, abandoned, island which was renamed; Canisdea.

The island of Canisdea is approximately the same size as a large city. It was once inhabited by a small population of humans, meaning there are a few buildings and broken vehicles, but no-longer has humans living there and they left very little behind. You may once in a while, encounter scientists who visit in small numbers every few months to do research, test vaccines, collect DNA and tag/collar/track dogs, but apart from that, you will see no humans. One of the main reasons for there being no humans living on the island is the limited food sources; the only available food is Rodents, Rabbits, Foxes. There are a few predators on the island, such as Black Bears, Wolves, Cougars and Badgers. Along with this, the weather on Canisdea can be very unconformable; from icy cold winters to boiling hot summers.
Virus Nine is a virus/disease that comes in 4 stages, although wolves/wolfdogs/other hybrid dogs are immune to the stage 4. The virus is spread by being around other dogs with the virus. It does not effect humans, however humans fear it may mutate.
It's very rare that a dog does not have the virus or are immune completely.
Puppies born to a dogs that have the disease will start at Stage 3 and move onto Stage 4 as they age.
Stage 1: Illness Lasts 1 week.
The first stage of the virus is the worst stage. This is when the dogs become very sick. They develop a fever, they sneeze a lot, are usually sick and are often so ill they are unable to get up and move around too much.
Stage 2: Dormant Lasts 2 weeks.
Stage 2 is the stage where the dog is no-longer showing any symptoms of having the disease. The only way to know that the dog has had the virus is by blood tests, although other dogs can smell the disease.
Stage 3: Symptoms Permanent.
Stage 3 is when the disease enters it's permanent stage. In this stage, the symptoms appear to come about within a couple of days and make major changes to the dogs, including;
• Higher IQ. - Dogs are smarter, have developed complex communication among other dogs and are able to comprehend human speech (Meaning they can understand it but can not communicate back).
• Enhanced Senses - Better smell, hearing and eyesight.
• Low Immune System - Injuries/Illnesses are slow to heal, don't heal so well and are more likely to be permanent.
• Fur Stops Growing - Meaning that whatever length your fur was, it's no-longer going to grow. This means; if you are a long haired dog that had it's coat cut, it's not going to grow back to how it was before. The only exception is puppies born with the virus, their fur will grow out but will stop after that.
Stage 4: The Unknown Permanent. (Only evolved when dogs reached Canisdea. Wolfdogs/wolves/hybrids are immune.)
Stage 4 is the stage that was only discovered after the dogs were sent to Canisdea. In this stage, a strange adaption happens and the dogs develop an 'out of this world' trait. A single, unique, ability that could almost be considered a power.
They also have all of the symptoms of Stage 3.
