Max dropped onto all fours and began chase. When Max was a small kitten he used to attack cereal boxes outside. His soft paws bounding against the earth like a drum. He lifted his haunches up to his belly and pounced. Max lifted his paws only to see nothing. The butterfly had escaped. He looked out into the valley and saw a blue wolf rolling around in mud.
