She had grabbed his wrist gently and tucked the box close to her chest with her other arm as she led them out of the market. Once they got to an open area, she slowed down and let go of him. “People are strange. They say what they’ll do if they met a dragon but yet they are just cowards. They wish they had magic because it makes life easier but don’t know of the real dangers that lurk with having magic around here. They are all fools. Let them lie to themselves. It’s a loss cause for these species.” It was obvious she had a distaste for humans, probably from when she was younger and her shadows played among the humans. With lighter air and a smile, her eyes narrowed a little on him and spoke: “did I see back there a dragon with an interest in a coin?” She dug out a gold coin and held it out for him to take. “I’ll have you know nothing passes me, sight wise.” Leaving the coin in his hand, she started to walk, heading to her home on the outskirts of town. “Keep up, don’t want you to get lost in here. Or come to think of it, you might just follow your nose.” She giggled and held the box close to her chest as if it were her child.

Ahone Grays

Prince | Some cave | tags; Moolettia, Copil, & Aldara

Ahone scoffed at Copil’s question. “They would for what I know. When they see dragons they always try to attack it even if it wasn’t doing a single thing, so I’m quite sure it will fool them.” He looked over at Moolettia, whose name he had just learned from Copil saying it since he can’t understand Aldara’s dragonese. Interesting name, but what can I say? Whoever decided my name really was struggling with something. The prince wanted the others to find him so he could go back sooner, but he didn’t want to leave Moon and Aldara behind, they were amazing and so kind but...

Moolettia; Female; Human; Tags: Ahone//Aldara//Copil

Moolettia shrugged slightly at Copil. "Maybe I guess, considering into fact everyone except Ahone, I think, thought Aldara was kidnapping me or something.." She glanced at Ahone as he 'spoke' blinking at him before shaking her head with a small smile. 'I wish that I could say that was true, but unfortunately I cannot. On your name though, it suits you.'. She looked st everyone, exhaling sharply. "Now that we are on this topic, I suppose it'd be best to discuss somethings.." She paused for a moment before looking at Ahone, adding Aldara to a telepathic connection so she could understand. "When we.. took you, your camp-mate's didn't seem very happy, we also weren't intending to exchange information with you, only you to us. So to be safe we will 'fight' to keep you but give up and retreat.. if they come looking for you I mean."

Aldara; Female; Dragon; Tags: Moolettia//Ahone

Aldara flicked her tail across the ground silently, she nodded at Moons statement. 'Copil, you could pretend to be with us, if you choose to stay that is... it'd be nice to have a friend of the same kind and not a rascals like them.' as she spoke this she flicked her tail of the two humans in turn playfully, glancing down at them.

Akuji; male; Dragon; Tags: none.

Akuji is thinking and bring a small salty ball of scales.

Copil/Female/Dragon/Tags Ahone Aldara Moolettia

Copil shook her head sadly at Aldara, "Unless you would want to meet with other dragons and risk Moolettia's safety while I search for my kin, it would be ill advised for me to join your merry group. Though if I could, I sincerely would join you, for it has been a pleasure." Copil sat up like the strong independent dragon that she is, while smiling sadly. Acknowledging Moolettia's plan she nodded, "That should work, humans seem to be easily fooled when one of their own are at risk at least."

They were bearing down on her now. The shadows were curling in every which way, following her movements. Distracting her. She tried with all her willpower to just ignore them. She knew they weren't actually there, that they were just ghosts come back to haunt her. But it was hard to push them aside when they were so real. They had grown eyes, small white dots of what seemed to be arcane magic that turned her soul to ice. She struggled to keep her eyes on Cain as their blades crossed, the clanging of the parry ringing in her hears. At his movement, her knife was thrown to the ground. "I was aiming for your eyes." She stated bluntly, jumping back to avoid the strike to her gut. Abandoning her dagger, she stepped forward and threw a flurry of punches at his chest and stomach, hoping to just get him out of her way. The visions all around her were making it difficult to concentrate, so it was better to try and escape now rather than worry about retrieving the knife. However, being this close in proximity to the figures behind Cain was sending a chill down her spine, and some of her movements were hesitant, like she expected the shadows to pounce. It was instinctual, something she wasn't really aware she was doing.

Again, Cain saw that strange look on his adversary's face. And he understood what it meant, clear as day. It meant a weakness, something that would hinder the woman and give him the upper hand. So he didn't stop to ponder it; he reacted quickly, clearly at the top of his game, in stark contrast to Echo's disoriented state. When her weapon was clattered to the ground, she formed her hands into fists, and aggressively stepped towards him, he stepped in too, closing the distance between them so much that Echo would have difficulty putting any real force behind her punches. The quick blows were light enough that the thin leather cuirass he wore beneath his coat was able to absorb most of the impact, though he still flinched in pain a few times before he managed to catch hold of one of her wrists. He had thrown one of his own knives aside to free his hand, and he had his hand wrapped around her limb before it even hit the ground. Immediately, he wrenched her arm forward, hopefully throwing her off balance, and stuck his foot in her path just in case it hadn't been enough to send her tumbling to the ground. He turned, darted for his fallen dagger, and then lunged for her again.

She must have looked like a fool. Echo realized this as she hit the dirt. She was using amateur moves, and had allowed Cain to gain the upper hand multiple times already. She was injured and exhausted, and couldn't see this fight ending well for her if she continued to follow it to its final, bloody end. Her magic was depleted, so she couldn't effectively sneak away without catching the attention of the guards. Not to mention that she couldn't even trust her own perception. Echo automatically rolled to the side, assuming Cain would follow up with another attack. She didn't reach for her dagger, nor did she even try to attack with her hands again. Instead, she slowly sat against the alley wall, panting, and closed her eyes briefly before she spoke. "I yield." She didn't know what Cain would do with her surrender, or whether it would even matter. He may choose to kill her anyways, surrender or no surrender. It was a tense situation for her, the idea that her life now depended on the choice of the man she was meant to kill. As her heart slowed from its adrenaline hype, she noticed the shadows around her beginning to fade, and took a shuddering breath of relief.

"I was beginning to think I would actually have to kill you," Cain drawled, pulling a face at the thought. It was all a show, not at all indicative of how he really felt; he easily could have ignored her surrender and slit her throat and maintain his clear conscience. No, it wasn't mercy or good morals that kept Echo alive now, it was information. As he straightened up and dusted himself off, Cain rambled, "Very well, I accept your surrender, blah, blah, blah, I'll spare your life, et cetera, as long as you're willing to answer me a couple of quick questions." He had a habit of flourishing his hands about while he talked, made all the more disconcerting by the quite dangerous things this resulted in him doing with his knives, and the way the blades glinted cruelly as he carelessly waved them. He spared no effort to threaten Echo into keeping still, with words or weapons, nor did he seem particularly concerned by her in general now that they were done fighting. He was more than confident in his ability to stop her if she tried anything. Instead, he fussed over himself, at one point holding one of his daggers between his teeth so that he could free up a hand to wipe at the blood that was running slowly down his face again.

"First of all, you think this is going to make a sexy scar? Or an ugly scar?" Fortunately, he had remembered to take the knife back out of his mouth again before he started talking. "Because if it's an ugly scar, I may go and see one of those mages to magic it away, but if it's not, then--" He interrupted himself, holding up a hand in a 'stop' gesture that he barely managed to preform properly with the dagger in his hand. "Wait. Don't tell me. I don't think I could take it if you told me it was ugly."

Cain dropped the act, and crouched in front of Echo, just out of arm's reach. He toyed idly with his knives and smirked in the most infuriatingly smug way as he said, "I think you know that isn't what I wanted to ask you anyway." Suddenly, he shifted forward, and a knife was at her throat. The point was held steady in the air less than an inch from Echo's skin, and Cain's pose- leaning forward slightly, poised, with that intent stare- was reminiscent of some predatory animal stalking its prey. His eyes stared into hers from beneath the shadows of his hood as he asked, "Who are you working for? I'm not a patient man, so do answer quickly."

"His name is Damian Rowan." She admitted. "He's the lord of a village just southwest of the capital. Said something about you killing his son." Echo only knew what she had researched about the man, which was actually a lot. Lord Rowan actually had his own handful of personal assassins in his pocket, so she never really understood why he had hired her. It was probably to save political face, but Echo could wonder. She looked warily down at the knife at her throat, its deadly point encouraging her to dig up more useful information for Cain to use. "The locals said the town was named Ashenfall. Rowan lives in the most expensive and obnoxious mansion there. You can't miss it."

Cain nodded slowly. It sounded rather plausible; at the part about killing some lord's son, he shrugged one shoulder and only said, "Hm, probably." He had offed quite a lot of entitled lords and nobles; though he could never quite understand how, even the most unbearable, snobbish ones often had family who were upset about losing them. For some reason. Cain was doing them a favor, really, most of them were dreadfully whiny and utterly boring. "Suppose I'll have to pay him a visit," he mused, in a low voice that sounded playfully conspiratorial, as though he hadn't just been trying to kill her. "Since you're feeling so talkative," he said in a tone that flattered his own interrogation skills more than anything, as though he had done something extraordinarily clever by pointing a knife at her, "Were you the only one hired? Or should I keep looking over my shoulder for more of Rowan's people?" He pointed without looking over his own shoulder with his spare dagger, as though there might actually be someone there. There wasn't, of course, though the distant noises of the guards trying to find them were growing louder, and closer.
