Dune sat in a tree after a short climb up a few rocks. He sighed, staring out at the setting sun. What a beautiful world we live in, He thought sadly. but such terrible creatures to find. The thoughts circled around Neon, the one he believed to be a bully and terrible animal.
Ears twitching, Dune sighed and closed his eyes. I said I would hunt, His thoughts continued. but I'm not even hungry. Sighing again, the fox didn't seem to notice how he was drifting into a sleep.
Before he could get any rest, a screech above woke Dune. He quickly jumped down the tree, but missed the first rock by a paw-length and fell, bumping onto the other. Pain gripped his head as he sat up.
Once he was up and recovered, talons gripped around Dune's back, lifting him into the air. He wailed as the creature carrying him, with astonishing speed, swooped away until the Elemental Forest was out of sight.
It's like it teleported, Dune thought through his weak whimpers. Before he knew it, the creature had tossed him onto some sharp rocks and had talons curved around the fox, pushing Dune into a hole that it soon covered with a large, heavy boulder.
