Dune stared up at his mother, awaiting her response. She only stared back. "Well?" He prompted. He then realized she was staring at him with dismay and sniffed a few times.
"You were too young to die," Dune's mother whispered. "And you were too young to be left without a parent." She reached out and stroked his head. "I love you."
"But why?" He uttered. "Why did you vanish?" He shook away her paws. "You left me to die." Even with his gruff utters and complaints, his mother managed to continue stroking him.
"It doesn't matter," She replied calmly. "You just need to go back to your love." She started muttering to herself, mist swirling around them.
It all went blank, until Dune finally opened his suddenly closed eyes and realized were he was.
Laying on the ground, backside tense and Julie laying beside him. Dune quickly got to his paws and started pushing her back, trying to wake her. Fear curdled up his neck.
"Julie," He whined. "Wake up!" He nudged her wing with a tiny nose. "Please, I need you here."
