KaiLee was the first to wake up of the band of three nomadic foxes, blinking awake as the full power of the sun found their little sleeping pile curled up in a depression in the earth. KaiLee untangled herself from the two todds she had spent the night with, and then padded a few steps away from them, preparing for a luxurious stretch in the full sunlight. It was a beautiful morning.
After her stretch, KaiLee paced away from the others to a small stream running through the field they had spent the night in in order to get a drink. KaiLee always enjoyed the taste of fresh stream water and she delighted in it now. However, as she raised her head, the water still trickling from her muzzle, KaiLee caught the scent of a strange fox.
Instantly she was wary, glancing around the field. The scent was feint but fresh, so it had been carried by a slight breeze. KaiLee turned and padded quickly back to the others.
"Time to get up, sleepy heads!" she called, trying not to sound anxious but making sure her words conveyed urgency.
Dandy's head popped up.
"Wh-wha?" he muttered groggily, glancing around. Then his eyes widened slightly, "Fox?"
KaiLee was as amazed as ever by both Dandy's ability to be instantly awake and be able to detect what had taken her a good five minutes to notice.
"Yeah." was all she answered, hoping that would be good enough to get him moving. Bane hadn't even stirred yet.
Dandy did get up, and he made a slight effort to wake Bane up as well, but seemed to give up almost immediately and began padding aimlessly around the field, stopping to sniff at patches of green stuff along the way.
Bane's waking ability made up for the instantaneous alertness of the other two. Even after KaiLee half dragged him out of their make-shift nest by his scruff, all Bane would do was mumble incoherently. KaiLee dropped him and growled with exasperation.
This would be easier, KaiLee thought irritably, if Dandy would help out instead of wondering around looking at all the flowers...
Just then Dandy returned with a bunch of odd looking plants in his jaws and his eyes looking as if they were watering. As he walked past KaiLee, she sneezed with the sudden stench of something that smelled very sharp. She could see why Dandy's eyes would be watering.
Dandy kept going until he was with Bane, and he placed the plants by Bane's nose.
The reaction was instantaneous: Bane's eyes snapped open and he scrambled to his feet, sneezed violently and shook his head.
"What was that???" he yelped, staring around in astonishment.
"I call 'em stink plants." Dandy answered, looking pleased with himself, "Because so far, that's all they've been good for."
"There's a strange fox close by," KaiLee explained to Bane who now looked annoyed that they had woken him up, "they've probably already heard us, but we should get moving if we don't want to meet up."
"Why don't we want to meet them?" Bane asked, a curious look coming into his eyes as he glanced in the direction that the strange fox's scent was coming from.
"Well..." KaiLee started, but was stopped by Bane and Dandy, who were staring at something behind her.
KaiLee's head whipped around and she watched as a slim white fox appeared to be stalking something over a rise that had prevented the small group from noticing her approach.
All three of the little band became stalk still as they watched for a reaction of the fox coming near them.

(That's Nymeria, by the way. And sorry if this is a suuuuper long post... :-/ It was a lot of fun to write though! :3)

Edit: (So I'm thinking were in Safe Haven, right?)

Sniffing at the water he cautiously dipped his paw into it, almost testing it, while his cloak moved to the slight rhythm of his wagging tail. Seems like a nice place to.. feeling something hit his back he found himself suddenly sent forward and into the small river. This didn't provoke a good reaction from the todd. Getting to his feet in the river he instantly had his fangs showing, eyes narrowed and burning with a strong level of dislike. " Your such a useless thing ! Why not try and keep a look-out and stop spinning around and acting like a thornbuck stepped on your foot ! " the idiot would stand still one second and then snap at thin air the next.

" There's this one bug thats.. buggin' me.. " the speckled fox said just as Chris got out of the water. Lifting a paw he was about to take his sash of sharp rocks from his side and throw it at Damien somehow. " And what ? Had it landed on me ? Does that explain why I'm soaked to my skin and back ? " he questioned, the paw lashing out at Damien when he hopped over and close to him. Said-todd yelped at the action and was soon sitting and resting a paw on his nose while he had slowly moved away and started to roll around in a nearby patch of grass- attempting to dry off with his wet cloak still on.

" Yes. You had a bug on your back, it landed with its transparent wings folded and little legs gripping the fabric of your cloak, it had soulless little eyes and small flickering- " he got a nasty glare from the shorter fox while he was on his back, pausing his dry-off, " Shut up Damien before I make you. "

After watching the newcomer for a few more moments, Dandy decided she somehow hadn't noticed the three of them.
Must be pretty intent on that threadmouse...
Silently and subtly he got both KiaLee's and Bane's attention and signaled them to start moving backward. Bane seemed a little disappointed, but he reluctantly obeyed. The three traveled backward until the vixen was out of sight. Still, the smell of strange fox was pretty strong in the air.
Actually, it seemed to be getting stronger, as was the sound of that stream their band had slept near to the night before.
That's not right... Dandy thought as apprehension crept up his back.
Turning around slowly, Dandy saw the stream in question as they were coming over a small hill. At the same time he saw a pair of other foxes messing around by the water.
Dandy couldn't prevent a snort of irritation.
"What?!" he grumbled to himself, "Did this just suddenly becoming a meeting ground and nobody mentioned it to me???"
KaiLee, who was beside him and had whipped around the moment he snorted, giggled in a nervous fashion. Dandy glared at her.
"Shut up!" He growled, though not as nastily as he felt like he could have, "Did you want to get us noticed and have our ears ripped off?"
"Sorry," she muttered, looking a little annoyed, "they don't look threatening."
Dandy had to admit she was right, glancing back at the one figure prone on the grass and his companion looking at him. Bane was watching them too, his back stiff but his tail waving with excitement.
"Doesn't matter," Dandy said mistrustfully, "you never can tell. We just need to keep qui..."
"Hey there!" Bane yelped suddenly and very loudly in the strangers' direction, his ears pricked forward with interest.

" Hey there ! "

at those two words the fox rolling in the grass was up on his feet, cloak messing up his neck ruff
and almost making him look larger as well. Perking his ears up he narrowed his eyes and cast a
dark look over at Damien who was frozen with one paw in the air- like a thornbuck when some
fox made the mistake of treading on a twig. He didn't look too scared by the fact someone else
was here.. more startled if anything.. he was in an annoyed type of surprise. These strangers had
to have seen him rolling about.. might think he was a pup due to his PKS size.

Great.. what a surprise they could expect.

He slowly dropped his paw, eyes narrowing while staring at the direction the direction the voice
came from. Bristling he slowly moved towards that bush, Chris just offering him a defensive stance,
holding his own little ground over the grass patch. Was it just one fox ?.. it didn't really smell like it..
and it wasn't. There were two more.. hm.

Moving his tail left to right behind him he stopped a meter or two before the other fox he slowly raised
his head, tail stiff out behind him, wary, " Hi.. er.. need something ? " maybe he was being a bit nice
because he could practically hear Chris' mental snarl of anger at him for not telling them to go away
or something hostile like that.
