Information about Rp/Dragons:
You can only be a Dragon in this rp
(The Humans have yet to arrive on the planet and the Lizards are their creations so there aren't any yet. There will be another thread for when the Humans finally arrive for the first time if this rp gets that far.)
Dragons are the mighty creatures that roam the skies above the Maloon Mountians on the planet Areontis. Their sizes corrispond with their coloring, as does their genders
Info about the Planet:

Areontis has a vast-looking surface, but not very big in over all size. It is about the size of Mars, maybe a little smaller, with much of its surface covered with land. Unlike Earth, Areontis is mostly covered with land and only a few portions of water. There are many areas of just plain grass lands and forested sections, but there are also mountains. It's the mountians that we will be centered upon, more specifically the Maloon Mountain Range.
The mountain range is actually scattered about in a loose circle with portions to the north, east, south, and west. The eastern and southern portions are pretty close to eachother so they are considered the south-eastern portion. This range is on a rather small peice of land with only a few miles between the northern and south-eastern mountains and even less miles between the western and south-eastern mountains. There is a large open plain between all the mountains with forested sections off to the sides, this is where all the different dragon clans come to hunt. The Plains are a neutral zone where everyone can fly and hunt, but each Clan has a bit of mountains to claim as their territory and it is against the Clan Truce to tresspass into a Clan's territory. Inside each Clan's territory is a Clan's Weyr or campsite which is where the Clan calls home and where the whole clan lives together. The Weyr's are in the center of each territory and are offlimits to other Clan's unless permission is granted for them to enter.
Info about the Clan's way of life:(Dots around the sides are the sleeping dens, the area to the bottom left is a feshwater lake, and the big white circle to the upper right is the Nesting Sands, the dark color around it indicates that it is underground and the the other white areas in the dark colors are other plain caverns undergound.)The picture above shows the looks of what each Clan's home looks like. They all are similar in the way they are set up, but can be moved around and changed a bit. Each camp, also called Weyrs (pronounced: ware or where), consists of the most basic things such as sleeping dens, the Nesting Sands, a fresh water lake or river, and is raised on all sides to make a deep bowl-like shape. The Weyrs somewhat resemble volcanos with a wide opening and deep center. As stated above in the Planet's information, the Weyrs are placed in the center of each Clan's territory and are highly guarded against attacks.
In order to have a Clan or to start one up, there must be a Weyr or else the Clan won't prosper and survive. Many dragons prefer to be loners or have been exiled, so they must find themselves a secure place to rest out in the forested areas since the mountains are all claimed by one Clan or another.
Being a loner or an exile is a rather tough life since all the good and safe places have been taken and they must hide from the other Clans while hunting. Clans don't like loners and expecially exiles since they are considered a threat to the hatchlings and the heirarchy inside each Clan. Lone female dragons take the brunt of the hatred since the Clan heirarchy is actually Matriarchal where the females are the rulers and males must follow them.
If a lone female enters a Clan's territory without permission or without the intent of joining the Clan, she will most likely be attacked and possibly killed by the ruling female, but the death of the loner is rare, expecially if the lone female is a lesser Green, due to the fact that the ruling female is always a Gold and Golds can't fight or they will risk the health of future offspring. Injured Golds cannot produce healthy hatchlings and aren't fit to rule a Clan.
To become the ruleing Gold of a Clan, the female must be the biggest and healthiest Gold in the area. Normally a large Bronze will try and court a large Gold by setting up a Weyr for her. The finding of a suitible Weyr is rare so females will immediatly decend on the Bronze and his prized offering. Different females will try for the Bronze's eye, but only the larges and healthiest Gold will catch it and once she does, the pair will mate and start the clan with the Gold as the leader.
It must seem confusing how a big Bronze male will surrender his prized possesion to a female, but in a dragon's mind, it all makes sence. The males don't want the burden of ruling a Clan, they just want to be protectors and fathers of the next generation so they leave the leading to the females who stay put in the Weyrs anyway to raise the hatchlings.
Every mating season, the Queen Gold will try for a new mate or fly with her current one. The Bronze that helped start the Weyr must fight for the right to mate with the Queen he chose, if he doesn't then she will just leave him for another Bronze. Even though she left the Bronze, she keeps the Weyr he gave her, once it is her's, it's her's forever or until she gives it up to someone else.
For the dragons there are certain colors for each gender:

Gold: This color is for the largest females called 'Queens'. They are the ones that normally breed since they are the biggest. The largest and brightest Queen is named the Alpha Female and will usually choose the largest and brightest Bronze to be the Alpha Male. These Queens never fight, a hurt Queen doesn't make good eggs and aren’t suitable for leadership.
Green: This color is for the medium sized females that don't usually breed. Due to their smaller size, they can only breed with the smaller Brown males or will sometime choose a small Bronze or a large Red. This color is normally the hunter/gatherers in a Clan and doesn't fight at all. The biggest and brightest will be paired with the male of her choosing to make the Beta pair.
Silver: This color is for the smaller females, they are new to the area like the Reds and Purples so not much is known about them, but they seem to prefer the nicely sized Reds better than the larger Browns or smaller Blues, but some do tend to stray from the group and choose a bigger or smaller male.
Purple: This color is for the smallest females, they almost never breed since they are so small and can’t mate with any of the larger males without getting squished. Their preferred breeding partners are the small Blues, but since the males are so rare, the Purples tend not to breed unless there is a large female that can pair with a normal-sized Red or an abnormally small Red that can pair with a normal Purple.
Bronze: This color is for the largest males, they are the ones that normally breed since there are so many, and they will only breed with the Queens or will sometimes go after a Green or Silver if they are small enough. They are the breeders and also the protectors of the Clan. The biggest and brightest is usually chosen by the Alpha Female to be the Alpha Male.
Brown: This color is for the medium sized males, they only will breed with Greens or even sometimes large Silvers. They help with protection sometimes, but are normally the main hunters in the Clan. These males are usually the ones that are chosen to be the Beta Male since it’s normally a Green that is Beta Female.
Red: This color is for the slightly smaller males. They are between the sizes of the Brown and the Blue, never growing bigger than a big Brown. These males are new to the area and are mostly unknown, but they seem to pair up better with the Silvers than the larger Greens.
Blue: This color is for the smallest males, they never really breed unless there is a female small enough for them to actually catch. These males are rather rare since it’s normally a Green and a Brown that end up producing them. They seem to like the new Purple females since they are the right size for them.

Dragon Info:Life span ages:Hatch -> 1 year = Hatchling
1 year -> 10 years = Adolescent
10 years -> 35 years = Adult (breedable age)
35 years -> Death (normally around 50) = Elder/Retired
- Dragon females determine who they want to breed with, so the Clans are fully Matriarchal where the females are the true rulers/leaders.
- The female with either accept the courting male by slapping her tail and flying straight up, where the male must catch her in order to actually mate with her (if the male doesn't catch her she will pick a different male). Or the female will reject the courting male, where she will simply lay down and ignore him.
- Partners last only 1 (one) year when Mating season returns and it's the female's decision if she wants to keep her current partner or accept a different one, so high positions like Alpha Male and Beta Male, are changed every year, depending on the females' choices.
