└---------------------------┘ The wood was quiet. Very, very quiet. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. This area had been stripped bare. The few tree's that still stood looked like they were clinging to life by a bare thread. And the small track of a stream was caked with rotting leaves. Running water hadn't reached this part of the stream in a long time. Frowning slightly, I move on. It had been days since I had eaten and the lack of food made me snappy and quick-tempered. At least, quicker than I normally would be. Yellow eyes scanning the horizon for food or danger, I sniff the air. Again, nothing but slowly dying foliage. Growling with frustration, I move on, deeper through the dead wood. The dappled sunlight threw shadows everywhere, reflecting the white of my stomach and the black of my back. My eye's shone in the bleak murky light of the forest, as I searched in vain for something to eat.

└---------------------------┘ The bone broke quickly as I chewed it. Yelping as the splinters stuck into my tongue, I jumped up and shook my head, trying to get the horrible taste of my own blood out of my mouth. Panting with the effort, I leap over small fallen bench like object to the large puddle that floods the walkway. The water in clear, with nothing but stone underneath. Gratefully I lap at the pond, happy for the relief the cool water does to my throat. Why was I eating the bone? All the rabbits were gone. I had lived here for close on a year and since the day I moved in all I ate was rabbits until they left the area for good. Now I was chowing on birds which were skin and bone. Splinters were common but still caused me to yelp and panic every single time. Looking around, I notice, once more, that there is nobody but me and two or three crows here. Barking at the birds, I watch at the cark and take flight, hiding on rooftops or in house's long abandoned.
