Plot

Life was grand before the meteor shower. Hundreds of herbivores roamed the plains as they feed off of the lush plants, moving from one area to another in search of more plants. The carnivores followed the plant eaters, picking off the sick and injured ones or even taking down a healthy loner, keeping the herbivores' gene pools healthy and clean from illness by their feasting on sick ones. Everyone thought life couldn't get better, and they were right it couldn't get any better, but it could get worse, much much worse. Many still remember the shower, the bright lights falling into the water or far off lands, it would have been dazzling at first a beautiful show of falling lights, but the beauty soon changed to horror and terror as a meteor, the size was bigger than imaginable, falls from beyond the clouds. The huge meteor strikes the planet far out at sea, but sends shock wave after shock wave onto land which are followed by an intense shower of smaller meteors, destroying large portions of the vast home lands. Volcanos erupt and the ground splits by the force of the shock waves, destroying even more land.

Once the dust settled and everyone was able to see the devistation, the survivors decide to make their way to the Nesting Grounds, the only place they know would be safe and untouched. A vast land encircled by rock to protect the lands from the fire and meteors.

This is about the survivors and their long journey to the Nesting Grounds. Many believe they won't make it, believing the Carnotaurs will finish them off before they reach the safety of the Grounds, others aren't so bleek and have hope in the quest. What do you believe?

Rules

1-Any and all CS, Tess, and Nick rules apply, that's obvious.
2-Use {} or [] while in OOC and no fighting in OOC either.
3-No cursing or major swearing, this is a kid site too.
4-Use "Fades to Black" for mating/birthing, no details.
5-No killing/seriously hurting anothers charries without their permission.
6-You will not win all fights and you will get injured.
7-I control weather, ask before starting any large drama such as a massive fight or character death.
8-No Power-playing, God-modding, Mary/Gary sues.
9-Make sure you don't have the same name/nickname as another dinosaur.
10-Please try to read the Plot and small info that's under the Ranks, it will help you place your characters
11-I can and will kick you out if you don't obey these rules.

*Writing Limit- I don't care if you post a paragraph or only 3 lines, just make sure to have proper grammer such as punctuation and capitalizing words that need it (like names and after a period). I can't stand 1-liners so please try to post at least 3 lines and no more than a paragraph, more than a paragraph will slow down the rp. Thanks for reading!

Seasons

[These are only used once they reach the Nesting Grounds, it is dry and hot in the desert]

Current Season: Winter (Very late - warming up)

Winter:
The snows have arrived and the heat is gone, in its place is a bone deep cold. Many of the dinosaurs leave the Grounds in search of better weather outside, but after the meteor's destruction only a very select few dinosuars actually know where a few good places would be, but many of the younger ones have no idea where to go. Only during the very harsh winters does the select few actually leave, only when there isn't any food at all and the water is frozen, but that hasn't happened in a while thanks to the heat retaining rocks that surround the Grounds. Winter is normally just a harsh cold and a blanket of snow that covers half dead plants, only the very old, the sickly and the very young die during such soft winters.

Spring:

The winter slowness is wearing off as the snows melt and wind blows warmth instead of chilling mist. As the groggyness wears off from the minds of the dinosaurs, their hormones go into overdrive. Females are coming into season and are looking for mates, their eyes are drawn by either fresh kills (carnivores) or stacking fresh plants (herbivores) inside a beautiful nest. The males can smell the females in season and are becoming more and more aggressive towards other males, chasing them away from any nest sights they have choosen to try and draw in a female by creating a nest they think will win one over.

Summer:
The heat is rising and the water is drying up as the rains slowly stop, making water inside the Grounds a very precious comodity. Females have been covered and are no longer in season, instead they are tending to nests and are dropping eggs that will be guarded by the mother. Males are still rather hostile towards eachother, but that is normal for rather dominant males, they don't like other males near them. Carnivores are out in search of easy meals while the herbivores are huddling together in groups to keep the killers at bay.

Autumn:
The heat is subsiding and the rains are back, bringing water back into the lakes and rivers. With the water returned and the heat lowered, the plants are lush, but only for a month or so before the cold of winter kills them again. The eggs that were laid in early summer are hatching and the females are on full alert to protect their newborn hatchlings. Carnivores are out in full force, hunting down the small hatchlings that stray from their families. Everyone is rather tense and are trying to fatten up for the coming winter, both carnivores and herbivores.

The Herd

This is the herd. The herd is made up of many different types of dinosaurs that have been driven from their home lands by the meteor. Some may be the last of their kind while others are one of many. The herd has one leader who leads them through the desert to the Nesting Grounds. Everyone in the herd is eager to get to the safety of the Nesting Grounds, a vast land full of many types of plants and small game, it is fully enclosed with large rock walls so it is untouched by the heavy fire of the meteor. No one knows weither or not they will make it to the Nesting Grounds, they can only hope.
