Kistunes; Mythical fox-like creatures, common in Japanese folklore. Always thought to be myths... But there's always a little truth to everything.
Kitsunes grow tails as the grow in age and wisdom. For example, a kitsune with one tail is at it's weakest, while a kitsune with nine tails is the strongest and wisest it could be. Now, kitsunes have split apart based on their powers: Flares, Tsunamis, Florals, Earthens, and Beasts.
The Flares have a power allowing them to control and create fire. They are known by other 'tribes' as valiant and bold, but hot-headed
The Tsunamis have the ability to control and create water. They are known for the calm and rational, yet somewhat bossy nature.
The Florals are able to manipulate flora and fauna. They are known for their sweet and kind personalities, but are quite easily manipulated.
The Earthens can control and create earthen material (rock, sand, mud, dirt, etc.). They seem like the strong and silent types, though can become very hostile when challenged.
The Beasts are quite mysterious in their abilities. They can blend into the shadows, and individuals with seven or more tails can even predict upcoming events. They are shunned by the other 'tribes', as, for reasons long forgotten, their ancestors had deemed them cold-hearted traitors.
After the big split into the five tribes, all way calm and peaceful between the tribes for decades. But now, it's all falling apart. The leaders of the Flares and Tsunamis are waging war over territory and border lines. The Earthen and Floral leaders have secretly been together for a few months. And the Beasts have come fron the shadows and spoken to the other 'tribes for the first time in nearly forty years...
One 'tribe' will rule, the rest will fall.
