if you insult one wolf, you insult the wolf's pack

werewolves used to roam the earth freely, never having to worry
about being 'found out' - everybody knew. the humans loved watch-
ing them shift. it was fascinating to them. but one day, somebody
wrote a novel - absolute rubbish, of course - which depicted the
werewolf species as evil and vicious. the humans started to riot at
every shifter's home, and it got to the point where werewolves were
being killed right in the center of the streets... so the few remaining
wolves came together and, instead of fighting back, they all fled into
the woods, where they were rarely ever bothered again.

all forms and out of character chat belongs on the discussion thread;
reservations for highly ranked characters last forty-eight hours; only
one highly ranked character per person; don't worry too much about
keeping genders even; create as many characters as you can handle;
drama and romance is, of course, encouraged- just run any major pl-
ot twits [e.g, deaths] by me first; no over-powered characters; try to
write at least five sentences per character, per post; characters must

/the alpha the alpha of the pack is the leader; the main one in control and sets the laws of his pack. they are not required to hunt with the pack, but most normally do. they demand respect and are in the position to exile or banish those who do not show it. although it is rare, this position can be challenged by a beta, and if the beta wins the fight or the alpha asks for mercy, then the challenger, being the new alpha, can do what he/she pleases with the previous leaders.
/the beta the beta is the second in command and enforces the law when the current alpha is not present. if both of the alphas die, then the beta(s) will take the alpha position and lead the pack, unless the alpha has said otherwise. this position cannot be challenged without the alpha approval.
/the guardians these are the guardians of the pack. their job is to ward off intruders and are responsible for the safety and well-being of the pack. they should have at one time been either an warrior or a medic, for they will need both the skills of peace and fighting, and they should only resort to violence if absolutely necessary.

/the doctor the doctor is the one to help those who are sick and injured.
/the lead fighter the lead fighter takes his or her orders directly from the alpha, and sometimes the beta. they are the main leader, general, or captain of the fighters in the pack.
/the fighters the amount of fighters depends on the size of the pack. for a small pack there can be up to five and for a much larger pack there can be up fifteen. they are also protectors of the pack. the fighters will roam the camp's surrounding areas ensuring it's safety. they are the ones that will keep watch at night. the fighters must be quick to think and remain calm in any given situation.
/the lead hunter the lead hunter is the one who leads the hunting parties. those who become hunters must also be quick thinkers.
/the hunters like the fighters, the amount of hunters depends on the size of the pack. every member of the pack hunts, but these are the ones you turn to when food supply is running super low.
/the lead scout the role of the lead scout is self-explanatory.
/the scouts the scouts are the scavengers of the pack. they will hunt small creatures and will help survey the land with the fighters.
/the apprentices these are the ones learning the skills to become either a fighter, a hunter, a scout or a medic when they are older.
/the subordinates these are the non-ranked members of the pack; they will sometimes participate in fighting and hunting.

/dominance a dominant wolf stands stiff legged and tall. the ears are erect and forward, and the hackles bristle slightly. often the tail is held vertical and curled toward the back. this display shows the wolf's rank to all others in the pack.
/submission the submissive wolf rolls on its back and exposes its vulnerable throat and underside. the paws are drawn into the body. this is often accompanied by whimpering.
/anger an angry wolf's ears are erect, and its fur bristles. the lips may curl up or pull back, and the incisors are displayed. the wolf may also snarl.
/fear a frightened wolf tries to make its body look small and therefore less conspicuous. the ears flatten down against the head, and the tail may be tucked between the legs, as with a submissive wolf. there may also be whimpering or barks of fear, and the wolf may arch its back.
/defense a defensive wolf flattens its ears against its head.
/aggression an aggressive wolf snarls and its fur bristles. the wolf may crouch, ready to attack if necessary.
/suspicion pulling back of the ears shows a lupine is suspicious. in addition, the wolf narrows its eyes. the tail of a wolf that senses danger points straight out, parallel to the ground.
/relaxation a relaxed wolf's tail points straight down, and the wolf may rest sphinxlike or on its side. the wolf's tail may also wag. the further down the tail droops, the more relaxed the wolf is.
/tension an aroused wolf's tail points straight out, and the wolf may crouch as if ready to spring.
/playfulness a playful wolf holds its tail high and wags it. the wolf may frolic and dance around, or bow by placing the front of its body down to the ground, while holding the rear high, sometimes wagged. this is reminiscent of the playful behavior executed in domestic dogs.

/the camp a massive clearing in the middle of a pine forest; more than enough space for a pack like ours. it has a large cabin for everyone to dine in, several separate cabins for the pack members and a campfire site in the center. once every seven months you can the moon's color alter's to a cool blue-grey. all those in the pack had found the camp by following a hidden trail to the clearing; any shifter who finds and follows the trail is immediately accepted into the pack.
/the lake this large lake is located a short ways to the east of the camp. pack members go here to let off some steam.
/the agni mountains the name agni is 'fire' in sanskrit. this name was given to the mountains because many years ago a great fire erupted at the base of the mountains, and they have since been as black as charcoal - no soul is known to be residing there.
/the falls this waterfall is located high in the agni mountains - apprentices are not permitted to access the falls due to the journey up there.
