The howl caused Felix to momentarily stop his work, but after a few moments he returned to trying to light a fire for himself. The howl stayed in the back of his mind though. While he didn’t believe in werewolves, a local had talked him into at least bringing a silver knife with him. It was in his newly set up tent since he still didn’t believe he needed it. The idea of a half wolf half human secretly amazed him though. It had been like that since he was a child. His father used to tell him amazing tales of the creatures and when he was a kid, being very gullible to the idea of such creatures, he would pretend to hunt them. Of course he was really only catching the family dog in a blanket. It was probably that in which he started becoming a skilled hunter of normal animals, something that came in use when camping. His father used to say he was following in his footsteps when he was young. Felix wasn’t sure what he meant by that. He had just chalked it up to his dad teasing him about his obsession with werewolves. His dad couldn’t have hunted werewolves. They weren’t real.
His trip down memory lane was interrupted by what sounded like voices. Felix stoop up, looking into the forest all around him, but found nothing. Maybe it was just the wind.
