"Heh, yeah. Only small ones for now, though. My goal was originally to get into the airlines with the big jets, but... I guess you can kinda see where that plan went." Lazuli gave a somewhat sad chuckle. "And I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a breather and check out this new place. I've always liked natural environments."
She followed Niamh outside, rather merrily hopping off the van with her. When Niamh pointed out her cuffs, Lazuli nodded, grinning at her.
"Ah, I can deal with that real easy. You just wait a lil, yeah?" She took a deep breath and felt the familiar stretching feeling as she called upon her wings. They emerged from her back, expanding gracefully into the air - this set was normally for combat, but sharp, almost knife-like feathers was just the things she needed right now. Plucking a few feathers from one wing, Lazuli gingerly took Niamh's cuffs and sawed them off fairly easily.
"There ya go! Bet that feels a lot better now?" Lazuli said.
Azura Tian | genderless (they/them or he/him) | 35 | dragon breath
adviser | location: base camp | tags: Nick, Maverick, Ariana (all brief passing), Niamh
Azura glanced through the same window and nodded to Maverick. They already had on a thick turtleneck over about two and a half layers - they supposed grabbing their scarf would make it perfect, but they didn't really feel like making the detour to their office right now. Besides - they liked the cold.
"So it begins." Azura muttered vaguely. "Nick, it may be a good idea to go tell the agents below. I'd like to see to it that the newcomers are... doing well. Hopefully we won't immediately be needing the suits for them."
With that, Azura took up a brisk walk following Maverick out through the hall, towards the entrance. Outside, Azura took a moment to take in the snow - it was a pleasing feeling, even if it meant there could soon to be muddy slush on the ground. They continued onward, heading towards the van. Not too far off, Maverick had joined up with one of the other advisers: Ariana Cayden, if they recalled correctly. They strode on over, catching up with Maverick just as he was greeting the other adviser.
"It looks like the van may have taken on some... water." Azura remarked, furrowing their brows as they noticed the steady dripping through the van's open doors. "I'm going to go check on them."
Just as Azura said that, they froze. Among those already out, there were two girls standing by the van - one with massive, feathered wings and short black hair.
"My..." Azura paled. They didn't even look at Maverick or Ariana as they headed towards their niece. "Excuse me. I need to see to a... certain visitor, first."
By the van, Lazuli happened to have their back turned to Azura, who was approaching from behind at an intimidating speed and did
not look happy at all. Before Lazuli could ask Niamh what she'd like to investigate first, she felt a sudden hand on her shoulder and was roughly turned around.
"Lazuli."
"O-oh... uh... hi there, Uncle." Lazuli felt her blood turn to ice. "Uhhh... so! Didn't expect to encounter you like this! By the way this is Niamh, and she's
really nice."
Azura didn't say anything just yet. Their expression was a mixture of anger and horror, but more so horror over concern for what had happened to Lazuli.
