Tommy tucked the few strands of hair in his face behind his ear, as he unloaded his arms full of wood and leaned them up against the tent he'd just recently put up, one he had saved from the shelter. He'd used this tent off and on through his travels, his only worry was attracting others to his spot. Not so much the mutants he was worried about, but more-so other greedy humans. It really was more like a beacon of light that just said, Hey, here's somewhere that's obviously loaded with supplies! Just take 'em! Dusting his hands free of the minuscule pieces of loose bark, his eyes averted upwards to take a scan of the area. Yeah, it really did look out of place. "I'll have to work on that." He told himself in a gravelly low tone. "But it can wait for now." He started to set up a fire pit for himself, only arranging the sticks for later. He didn't need to light it just yet, as it was still comfortable for him outside, and he only had about 3 or 4 matches left in the tiny, pocket-sized box they gave him. Tommy let out a soft huff and ducked down to climb into the tent. It was all he needed really, a space to sleep where he wasn't so exposed, but it really was incredibly tiny. He was somewhat glad he didn't have someone else in his group, because there certainly wasn't enough room for the both of them in here.

Mars had continued the hunt for food in his beastly form, still a little pleased by the small flower. It put him in just slightly of a better mood, giving him a little more energy. The fur on the back of his neck bristled in response to a chilly wave of wind that surrounded him, in turn causing him to shake out his coat. He really didn't mind at all though, he much preferred Fall to Summer. Summer was scorching-ly hot, and drained the water hole and river. Not to mention the risk of "forest fires". The seasons, while still pretty uniform, were a little sporadic. the highs were really high, and the lows were super low. Marshal was fortunate enough to be able to shift into an animal that could withstand it a little better, but it definitely wasn't anywhere near perfect. This train of thoughts came to a halt when he picked up a familiar, but also confusingly unfamiliar scent. Was.. that another canine? His eyes narrowed and his head dipped, nose sniffling a million miles per minute. Hm, interesting. He hadn't seen one of those in a long long time, but it also worried him to an extent. It could be 'competition', not in the sense that Mars wanted to assert his dominance and be 'head canine 'round these parts', but more like the other way around. He debated whether he wanted to go take a peak for himself, or just evade the entire situation by turning around.

Echo - 19- Female - Heterosexual - Panther Shifter - Tags: Open

Echo prowled through the forest slowly, careful not to disturb many bushes. Emitting a slow growl, she leaped up into a tree and began leaping from branch to branch. The panther had hoped to maybe try to find some type of meal for both herself and her friends. Since her eye injury, the wound had healed somewhat well and mainly just left scar tissue. It was ugly and every once in a while, it bothered her but Echo did her best to not dwell on it. The large cat stopped on a branch when her sensitive ears picked up the noise of a small animal. Using the sensitive scent glands in her mouth, Echo pin-pointed the location of what turned out to be a rabbit and made her way to the branch that was over the animal. It was oblivious to the predator sitting directly above it. Her tail twitched slowly back and fourth and Echo licked her lips. It wasn't the best looking specimen she had seen and it was thinner but it otherwise appeared to be in good condition. After a few more seconds of waiting, Echo allowed herself to drop from the branch and land straight on top of the animal. Her muscles strained as she caught herself but the landing was otherwise silent. Before it had a chance to react, Echo bit its neck and quickly killed it. Not the best but not the worst. She picked up her kill and began to walk in the direction she had come from. However, as she was walking, she heard a low, growling noise. Echo stopped and turned to her right. Sure enough, a two badgers waddled out from the shrubs, growling hungrily. Oh come on now carry on. This is mine and I don't have the patience to deal with you right now. The panther's eyes turned to slits and she began growling right back at the badgers. However, they were only focused on the scent of blood and meat. Realizing they weren't going to leave on their own, Echo slowly set down her rabbit and extended her claws. Both of the badgers began to growl even louder and one finally charged at her. Before it could sink its claws into her pelt, Echo darted to the left and whipped around, swiping it aside with her powerful paw. It went sprawling to the side, shrieking the entire time. Roaring, Echo darting towards it, grabbing the animal by its back before it had a chance to get up. She noticed how the other badger was coming towards her and threw the one in her mouth to the side. She turned to the other one and charged at it, leaping over the furious ball of fluff and whipping around to swipe at its back. The animal, startled, turned around and tried to bite at her paw. These things are freaking fast. Echo thought to herself and jumped in the air again, coming down on top of the animal. She bit at it again, finally managing to get a good hold on its throat. She gave it a good shake and dropped the limp body on the ground. Echo turned to the second badger who was just getting up from their last collision. Suddenly, she felt a searing pain in her left thigh. Surprised and angry, she turned around to find a third badger ripping away at her leg. The cat quickly swiped it off and jumped on it, killing it quickly. These had better taste good. Echo thought bitterly and quickly jumped on the third badger, dispatching it. That was a bit of extra fun I was not in the mood for. Picking up the badgers by the tail and rabbit by the ears, she began dragging her prizes back towards where she had last seen Gray and Lenny.

(This is assuming they are still together and everything! I could change it if you don't want them to still be in the group Loki! :)

Grayson "Gray" Bate | Male | 29 | Straight | Location: "Dead" Forest/Outskirts | Mutant | Powers: Heat Vision, Cryokinesis | Crush: None | Tags: Open
Grayson wandered along the edge of the dead forest. The ground was barren except for skeletal tree remains spiking from the soil. The trees looked brittle, as some were, but most of the vegetation had managed to mutate to withstand the sudden and harsh conditions. A few lucky trees were sprouting greens or browns, but the forest itself was either white, black, or gray and seeming devoid of life. All except for Grayson who knelt beside a large based tree as he scanned for life signs. He had been alone for a while, having given up on ever finding his best friend and war buddy. He had also avoided people at all costs because the deceit was beyond fathomable. Grayson never knew if who he was talking to was Mutant or Human, and half the time they wanted to put a bullet through his brain anyway. Grayson was lucky, his powers were not noticeable to an outsider as long as he kept it on the downlow, but even then any groups or loners he did cross paths with avoided him due to his deformity. Grayson figured the only way to survive was on his own and so far he was managing, but the food supplies were dwindling and the higher supply of food was in Human territory, which he was not welcomed in. Gray stood from his post and brushed a gloved hand across the tree where flakes of ashy dust left residue on the leather. He frowned and looked up into the brambly canopy above where the sky was a constant wave of gray. The future was dull indeed. He knew he wasn't completely alone because he had found and saved a young girl named Echo. He had found and saved her just in time to stop the infection in her eye, but not soon enough to save her vision. They had briefly split up in hopes to scavenge some food but Gray was rather useless in hunting compared to Echo. He figured he'd stay put in hopes of finding some food and wait for the return of Echo.

Lennox "Lenny" Ross | Male | 26 | Homosexual | Location: Town | Human | Crush: None | Tags: Open
Lenny stood in front of the remains of a rotting building that was once a grocery store. He had scavenged through the shelves that still stood and managed to find a few cans of soup and canned fruit and veggies. He had bagged the goods before continuing the search before realizing the effort was rather pointless. Most of the food items he had ran across were disintegrated into ash or smelt rancid. Most of the canned goods were in the possession of another being and the only people who could eat well were the doomsday preppers, and Lenny was not one of those. He knew they held great amounts of food, water, medicine, even entertainment, but he was one of the unfortunate that couldn't manage the luxury of living several feet in the ground in a metal box. For some reason the idea just didn't appeal to him. Lenny huffed before kicking an ashy beam that used to hold the store up. Dust burst into the air and he stumbled back from the toxic fume that was released. He pinched his nose before walking away from the nonexistent aisle down another one in hopes of finding medicine.

Ellie Ross | Female | 18 | Pansexual | Location: Outskirts | Mutant | Power: Assassins Blades| Crush: N/A | Tags: Open
Ellie stood on the outskirts where life is just barely beginning to breathe back into the land. She left her sister back in the town where she was safer. Her sister wasn't cursed like she was and part of her was angry, but she also knew how guilty Erion felt and so she tried to ignore the slow bubbling anger in the pit of her stomach. She also knew the two of them were in a tight situation. Erion couldn't survive on her own; Ellie loves her sister to death, but they both know her twin is inadequate in such a destroyed world. The worst part is joining a group is practically impossible. Mutants and humans hate one another and since Ellie refuses to leave Erion alone it leaves just the two of them living further from "society" than before. Ellie's ultimate fear is what if something happens to her, then who will take care of Erion? The notion always gave her nightmares, but there was nothing to truly be done about the situation except hope that Erion's survival skills start to kick in. Ellie frowned and glanced through the forest with her body close to the trees. She had been wandering for a while and was close to the river. They needed food and since Erion couldn't hunt yet, she let her sister eat the canned goods while she went out and found what was edible, if anything. Ellie stretched her arms before flexing her fingers and having claws shoot out. She gripped onto the nearest tree that looked to be able to hold her weight and began to climb up until she was on a sturdy branch near the top. Ellie sat down and swung her legs over, looking over the landscape for prey to hunt.

Erion Ross | Female | 18 | Straight | Location: Town | Human | Crush: N/A | Tags: Open
Erion sat in her tent with a sweatshirt wrapped tightly around her body. She was cold and hoped she wasn't coming down with the flu. She was never the strongest child since academics were her strengths, but now she wished more than anything she had done sports or learned something useful. No one ever teaches you how to survive a nuclear war. She gripped the can of soup in her hand like it was a lifeline and gingerly continued sipping on it. It was chicken noodle and she had just finished attempting to heat it up. It was lukewarm, but that was fine for her. Her fingers felt stiff and as she glanced around the tent she knew they were going to have to find some place safer. The roof was leaking and protection from elements and raiders was practically nonexistent. Erion lifted the can to her lips and slurped, enjoying the sensation and relief of hunger. So far they had managed to avoid most raids, but she knew how awful people were and it was just a matter of time. Humans or not, people seemed to have always been monsters.

Seth Fen & Buckbeak | Male | 24 | Demi/Pan | Location: River | Mutant| Powers: Avian Syncing, Phasing | Crush: N/A | Tags: Buckbeak, Open
Seth stood on the edge of the river and grimaced at how disgusting the water looked. And to think, this was the drinkable water. He held back a gag before bending down and lowering his water bottle into the stream, watching it flow and fill his canister. He knew how careful everyone, human and mutant, had to be so as to not completely dwindle their water supply. Seth knows the moment the river becomes too low he is taking Buckbeak and flying to a new land. He had hopes that some places were better, maybe they had greenery and fruit and vegetables and animals to eat rather than whatever he managed to scavenge up now. The water bottle was full so he lifted it from the river and screwed on the cap before placing it in his pack and staring into the flowing water. His eyes were pitch black and he looked much older than he was. His hair was just as dark except for a bright blond streak that ran from the front of his head. Seth always knew life was hard, but he was starting to wonder if maybe the world was just a huge joke and he was the punchline. Wiping the stress from his eyes, he looked up and watched from across the river the endless expanse of nuclear land.

(I'm thinking Grayson and Lenny haven't found each other, but Gray and Echo can be a duo)

(Sounds good! Do you want Lyric and Erion to be their previous duo as well?)

Echo - 19- Female - Heterosexual - Panther Shifter - Tags: Open

Echo stopped dragging the dead animals for a few seconds and lifted her head. She took in the scent of the woods and managed to pin point Grayson's scent. There you are. she thought, almost relieved to have smelled him. So many things could go wrong while out alone. There were many types of mutated creatures running about that could easily rip a human being in half. On top of that, there were some nasty mutants out for blood along with gangs of humans. It was a kill-zone out here. The panther reached down and began dragging all three of the animals in Gray's direction. If only panthers were just a hair taller. I might be able to actually pick them up off the ground. Right now, it was a huge inconvenience. Eventually, Gray's tall form came into sight and she dragged the animals up to him and dropped them at his feet. The cat spat out some of the fur and snarled a final time at the dead badgers. Freaking nightmares, those things. Hopefully the food would last them a while if they rationed it carefully. She looked her friend up and down to ensure he was unharmed. Good. Nothing too traumatic had to take place today. I consider that a win. Turning away, Echo stretched out her cramping neck muscles and walked over to the base of a dead tree and began licking at the bite mark on her flank. It was a minor price to pay for food nowadays. Once finished, she sat up and allowed herself to switch back to human form. Her black hair fell down past her shoulders and she dusted herself off. "Alright. Hopefully that will last us a bit. I had a heck of a time killing those things. They just kept coming." Echo chuckled to herself and pulled up her pant leg to reveal the bite wound. It didn't appear to be that deep thankfully. "Not the worst I've seen. I'd take at least four of these before giving up that much food." she looked up at Grayson. "Did you find anything while I was gone?"

Covering his nose and mouth with his coat to prevent himself from breathing in the dust, Baxter effortlessly forced the door open with the aide of his shoulder and waved a hand to clear the air before dropping his coat. He knelt down to Steele's level and ran his hand through the canine's fur before muttering the words "keep watch". The husky stood almost instantly and turned about, ears forward and alert as he began to patrol along the front of the building. "Good boy," Baxter hummed before entering the old structure, being met with the familiar sight of a mess that most other places that he raided had. But it had promise to make a decent shelter for the time being, and maybe there was something useful here among the debris and that was all that mattered at the moment.

Adrianna moved as quietly as she could as she moved among the trees, occasionally pausing to gather sticks she deemed well enough to be used for a fire and used her makeshift quiver to carry them. She wanted her arms to be free in case of an emergency. Adrianna softly hummed some lullaby type tune to herself as she crouched down, simply gathering more firewood before sighing. It was far too quiet for her liking, and as a result it made her feel lonely. She hated it. "Man, old man was right. This is a terrible plan..." The girl then huffed and stood, brushing the dirt off of herself. "I'm just gonna have to get over it I guess."

Carter casually carried on his merry way as he trekked along the landscape, only stopping every now and then to either chase a bug of some sort or "hide" when he thought a threat nearby. He sniffed at the air and paused, catching an unfamiliar scent in the breeze. He sniffed again and brought his nose to the ground, snuffling about in an attempt to catch it on the ground before lifting his head once more. Then the moment he realized that it was from another canine - one that could very well be bigger and meaner than him - he crouched down low to the ground and backed up slowly. If there was a chance of conflict happening, he wanted to avoid it, so without a second thought he turned and took off in a run. Except he didn't count for the tree that was there, his face meeting it with a painful smack that caused him to yelp and bring a paw up to cover it. Not exactly his proudest moment.

The sun was starting to creep downwards, cooling everything down. It wasn't quite nightfall, but judging by how cool it was already getting, he wondered how unbearable the night may be. Hopefully it would stay above 50 degrees at least. Tommy decided he'd go ahead and light the fire, and decided to do this without the use of matches. He was going to run out soon anyways, he might as well learn how to properly light a fire the old fashioned way. "Uh, I don't remember..." He said quietly, trying to figure out how he was supposed to go about this. He grabbed a fistful of dry grass that was sprouted just beside the tent, and created a small pile with it. He then took one of the many sticks he'd found previously, and eyed it before putting one end to the tinder. He then started to twist the stick in between the flat palms of his hands, and continued this for a little bit, but to no avail. "Well, this is a problem." He huffed. He then remembered the small survival pamphlet in his survival kit, and decided to locate that and see if it had anything of use.

Mars' thoughts were interrupted by a distant, but still audible yelp. His ears immediately perked in response, and he decided he'd investigate further. If need be, he could use a different form if he needed to, especially if adrenaline kicked in and he had a little more energy to do so. He tread carefully along the dusty, broken earth, and through dead and wilting trees before coming upon the canine that made the noise. Mars stayed a safe distance away as his eyes narrowed in concentration. He studied the creature and couldn't help but let out a laugh as he put together what just happened. Yeah, he seemed harmless. Even so, h e debated whether or not he should engage with the canine. Mars cleared his throat to make himself known and put on a teasing, yet friendly smile. "Hit your head there, did yuh?" He said, the smile in his voice to be heard through his words. "I ah heard you yelp and decided to see what all the fuss was about."

Azrael, after a moment of completely ignoring Leons attempts of trying to socialize with him, had accidentally breathed fire at him and demanded angrily that they split up. "...Fine. Just meet me back at base when we find stuff alri--" "Whatever! Just get away from me!" Henry rudely snarled out, hands giving occasional strong sparks thanks to his mood. The 6'1 man watched the mutant for a few minutes before backing away and jogging off, dead silence now hanging in the air. Shoving his hands into his pockets, Azrael turned and began walking, a big frown on his face. '...I don't even feel like finding firewood now... Whatever, suck it up you stupid continuar.' Huffing out a small ball of flames, began to continue around the town again, finding nothing but rusted and destroyed pieces of metal and crumbled bricks. "Oh come on! Why can't I find anything good in this godforsaken--" He suddenly froze, eyes widened looking dead ahead before grinning like a mad man. He spotted a dog. A dog! 'I could kill the dog and me and Leon would have better stuff than those energy bars!... But its so cute... Maybe it doesn't have an owner?' He had snuck close towards the dog, but stopped when he heard a faint voice saying, "Good boy." "Aw What?! He's owned? That sucks..." He grumbled, though saw as the dog kept watch, and a dumb thing that Azrael was doing on his own was that he stood straight in the dogs sight, and possibly his sense of smell too. "Crud crud crud--" He blathered, and looked around for any hiding spot, but was way to slow, so instead he, in the most friendliest way possible for himself, he whistled and slightly approached the building, a few feet away before stopping. "Uh... Hey doggy... Your owner in there?" He called awkwardly, making sure to keep his distance... He knew dogs could attack if they damn well wanted to.

Leon, sighing and honestly hurt, jogged unknowingly into the forest, having forgotten all about the mission to get wood. It wasn't until he tripped and fell on a few measly and slightly charred branches, which broke or crumbled under his weight, that he remembered. "Oh... Yeah, the job..." He grumbled, but layed on the ground for a but longer before finally getting up and brushing himself off. Individually he picked each one up, working out the math for how each one would stay aflame within a pile before grabbing a handful of them, yawning afterwards and starting up a jog again. Honestly the white and Black haired man was hoping for the excersize to help him wake up faster, but instead he just got more tired and eventually slowed to a walk, keeping and eye out for more sticks. "Man... Its like 'Hide and Seek but with the Possibility of Dying from more things than just cold' edition! Come on-- Oooh!" He was just talking to himself aloud before finding another small pile, but only a few pieces were more than flammable so he grabbed them and left the rest. Grinning at his find, he looked up to see a figure in the distance, facing his way. Hesitantly, he made the figure out to be a girl, and he waved awkwardly in the direction of her, seeing of she were possibly friendly or not, his grin now gone and slight uncomfortablness replaced his almost giddy mood.

Baxter had just begun to shuffle through the rubble when he heard a faint growl from Steele that was soon followed by a man's voice. Well...that happened much faster than he had anticipated. Or wanted. With a scoff he pushed himself to a stand and pulled his Beretta from it's holster, not yet cocking it but merely holding it for safety measures. He sat himself on one of the piles of rubble and let out a whistle for Steele, who hurried inside to return to Baxter's side and took up a defensive stance - not necessarily hostile, but fully ready to be just in case. With a sigh the ex-mercenary gazed at the doorway, lazily tapping his gun against this leg. If this stranger was a possible threat he might as well go ahead and face it head on. "For the record, his name is Steele." He called out, his mask of plain boredom as strong as ever.

Adrianna continued her search for sticks, humming softly as she even took it upon herself to hunt for food when she figured she had enough firewood for the time being. "I should invest some time in looking for a bag or something..." The small woman spoke, mentally making a list of things to keep an eye out for when she returned to town. After a moment she shook her head and realized that she had stopped in her tracks. "C'mon, keep your head in the game!" She scolded herself under her breath, but then noticed that there was someone ahead of her some distance away. Adrianna tilted her head slightly when she saw him wave, a little confused as she was more used to much less polite approaches from strangers. But nonetheless she waved in return and even offered a little smile. "Uh...hi there?"

At the sound of another's voice Carter turned to look in the newcomer's direction, glowering slightly at the amusement he heard coming from them. With a huff of wounded pride he refused to reply to the stranger, instead shifting positions so that he was laying down and covered his face with both of his front paws in attempt to nurse it. Was he pouting? Oh yes, yes he was. The thought of possible death was swept away from his mind as the embarrassment planted itself in the forefront of it. He was probably going to have a nasty bruise on his face whenever he shifted back into a person.

Blinking, he settled himself down on his haunches and cocked his head. "Are you like me? Or are you like.." He raised a paw and beckoned it slightly "Like, full-time dog?" Mars failed to think of a better way to phrase it. He could usually tell the difference between a genuine animal and a mutant, mutants tended to have a way more animated posture and behavior, just like the one in front of him. However he thought he'd still ask, mainly for the sake of getting the obviously embarrassed being to speak to him.

Grayson "Gray" Bate | Male | 29 | Straight | Location: "Dead" Forest/Outskirts | Mutant | Powers: Heat Vision, Cryokinesis | Crush: None | Tags: Echo
Grayson froze at the slight sound of dirt being brushed. He turned around in time to see a sleek black panther approaching him with dead prey in its mouth. He loosened his demeanor and turned completely to face the large cat, bending down as she dropped the three dead badgers. He swung the pack from his back and sat it down beside the meat and withdrew a large patch of cloth. He shook it out, bits of dirt and fur falling from it before beginning to wrap the animals in it. He did this methodically and silently as Echo began to clean her wound and shift back to human form. He didn't glance up as she spoke, but rather continued wrapping the badgers before placing them in the pack securely. "I can clean that when we get to base." He told her with a flick of his silver gaze at the sight of the gash. It was shallow, but the teeth looked to have torn the skin horizontally so the wound looked bigger. He figured it wouldn't take more than a few minutes and some diligent use of their supplies to avoid any onslaught of infection. "No, it was as quiet when you left." Grayson swung the pack onto his back and stood while adjusting the straps. He glanced to the sky which was the same color as his eyes. "Let's head back. I want to skin one of these and cook them before it gets dark. We should set out cans in case it rains too so we can catch the rain water." Grayson nodded towards the exit of the forest back to where they had come. He enjoyed nature, but far less now that everything was half dead.

Erion Ross | Female | 18 | Straight | Location: Town | Human | Crush: N/A | Tags: Tommy
Erion finished off her soup and crawled out from the tent and stood to see if anyone was nearby. She sat the can on a rock nearby in order to catch rain water so they would have less of a chance to become dehydrated. Erion was becoming antsy from staying in the same place for such a long time by herself. She was naturally a friendly and social person, the idea of being alone for so long was beginning to put her on edge. She knew Ellie wouldn't be back for a while and she saw no harm in venturing off to find some passersby whom might have some food to lend over. Convincing herself this was the correct decision, Erion reached for her small dagger from inside the tent before being sure to have hid all of their supplies and heading off. Erion knew most people were further away, but sometimes she swore she had been hearing and seeing more people than she had earlier. Ellie always told her not to engage and just stay out of sight until they passed, but Erion was curious why so many people were coming by now. Were supplies running shorter than they were or was there trouble in the town of humans? Her thought process was cut off when she saw a human and a tent not more than a few yards off. She mentally facepalmed herself. She had wandered much further than intended and was now far from her tent and faced with a stranger. She couldn't see anyone else around, just the one, but she couldn't figure out their gender. She glanced at the dagger in her hand before slipping it in her sleeve and slowly following forwards towards the shape.
