A Human Survival/Apocalyptic/Faction Roleplay

Deep in the far reaches of space, a desolate, forgotten world called Solonaire spins in lonely orbit around a bright, beating sun. The world was small, much smaller than Earth, and was covered with sand; the whole planet was a desert. There are only a few notable rivers, not that large, and oases scattered about sparsely. With only a couple acres of farmable land on the entire planet, food and water are scarce. But, only feet under the dusty, hard ground there is very valuable minerals. These are also desired by the people. Everyday, humans are struggling to survive against the conditions. That isn't their only problem, though -- radiation from the destructive sun has mutated the few animals left on Solotaire, turning them into monsters. The planet is divided, literally. There are four distinct rings in which the people live in: A Ring, B Ring, C Ring, and D Ring.
With so much strife, the people of Solotaire have split up into two factions:
The Stark and The Sygnum
But it's getting worse. The population of monsters have been kept to a minimum until now -- more and more are attacking the ruined cities in which the people live each day. The sun is steadily drawing closer as Solotaire approaches what they call the "Boiling Death," which will last a torturous 4-5 weeks, with the tempature average at about 125 degrees to almost 140. If Solotaire is too survive, the factions, Stark and Sygnum, much join together -- but how?
Animals aren't the only creatures to be affected by radiation. 0.01% of the population have gained supernatural powers, such as improved strength or the ability to minipulate the air.
(This percentage does not limit the amount of people with abilities in the roleplay, it is simply for scale)

Stark

High Commander:Yoshika

The Ravens

The Stark are a more loose faction, unlike the Sygnum, who are tight and orderly. The people among the Stark believe that their people will survive without banding together. The Stark's main goal is just to get rid of the Sygnum and divide the land's resources evenly throughout all Four Rings. Despite this unanimous goal, patrols (they do have patrols, like the Sygnum, though, again, less strict) will raid villages for supplies. All Stark members have one mask depicting an animal (any animal). Most wear these during raids, but some never where one (they are sometimes scorned for this), and some wear it constantly. The High Commander always have a raven mask. This is as much of a uniform as they have, since there is no official one.
Ranks in Stark are practically non-existant. The only distinct and recognized one is High Commander, though the ones among the High Commander's personal patrol put themselves higher up then their peers. Other than that, most treat others as equals. The rank of High Commander is taken either by the current commander handing over the title publically, a duel to the death, or murder with proof.
When joining Stark (most join at an early age, 10-15), they go through a week of training before being placed on a patrol, with the mentality they will learn on the job.

The Stark reside mostly in the B Ring, with lower patrols in the C Ring

Sygnum

Chief: none, if desired position, PM me

The Vultures

All Sygnum members believe in complete order. Sygnum wish to seize control over all Four Rings in order to carefully proceed with technical advancements in civilization to return the planet to it's former glory. They are very strict and orderly, believing it the most efficient way to live. The Sygnum patrols are placed strategically around the rings. Unlike Stark, Sygnum have leaders and more recognizable ranks. The positions are as followed:
Chief: leader of the Sygnum, do not lead patrols like Stark's High Commander, but stay in the center of the action-- the Sygnum headquarters in the A Ring.
Lieutenant: Sygnum patrol leaders, the ones that report to the Chief. (Open for everyone)
Officers: regular Sygnum members.
Sygnum members go to a school to learn to be an efficient Sygnum member. Children can attend at the age of 12 and the school lasts for 3 years. They are then assigned their patrol.
The Sygnum Chief's rank is handed down from Chief to most trustworthy Lieutenant. The Sygnum, as opposed to the Stark, do not wear masks, instead getting a tattoo of the factions symbol (the vulture) on their wrists when they graduate school. Sygnum are more technologically advanced than Stark, and Lieutenants and the Chief have walkie-talkies, which they call Communicates.

The Sygnum reside in the epicenter of civilization, the A Ring, with patrols in all Four Rings.

The Four Rings

A Ring, B Ring, C Ring, D Ring

A Ring: This ring is the center of this world, enclosed by the other rings. Sygnum headquarters are here, but very few to none Stark members and patrols. A Ring also has the most farmland and water on the planet, but it is very hard to maintain a position there. Some small villages have been rebuilt. Monsters rarely attack here, but some brave ones have started coming in herds and attacking the outskirts.

B Ring: This ring is where most live. Headquarters of Stark are also here. Enough water to survive, but almost no farmland. Most people live in the ruins of old villages. Stark and Sygnum patrols are found in abundance here. B Ring encloses A Ring. Monster attacks are becoming more frequent here.

C Ring: The ring that encloses both A Ring and B Ring. Almost no water, food, or shelter can be found here. Monsters have completely overwhelmed some areas of this ring. Stark patrols can be found, but little to no Sygnum members.

D Ring: Everywhere else outside of the other three rings, which is almost half of Solonaire. Completely inhabitated by monsters and scavengers. Stragglers out in this desolate desert are scarce. Only one water source can be found in the entire D Ring. Minerals but no food except the animals are in this ring. Nobody would venture out into the D Ring alone... but some are banished here.

Yoshika was down in the Stark headquarters -- or, what they called HQ, at least; it was nothing fancy like Sygnum had, just a large, surviving basement below some random ruined building in B Ring. Cots, bedrolls, and blankets lined the walls for the Stark members that lived there. Food stashes were hidden elsewhere. Thinking about food made Yoshika's stomach rumble gently, but it brought her back to her task, planning the next raid. Out of an act of kindness, Stark had given food to an outside village at the edge of C Ring to the starving people. That had almost completely depleted their stores, but it had been worth it. That village was Stark-loyal now, and Yoshika would be expecting new members soon from the children of that settlement. With a yawn, she left her half-done work and marked up map of the rings on the desk (an empty wooden crate), grabbed her cloak and mask, and climbed out of the basement, ready to get some fresh, gritty air, for it was stuffy down there, and walk a bit.

Target on her sights. Track it's movement. Consider wind and take a deep breath. Exhale... and pull the trigger.
There was a crack like thunder and she watched through the scope with satisfaction as the creature she had been aiming at crumbled to the floor, kicking up dust clouds. It was rather worrying that the thing was skulking along this close to HQ, but it certainly cut down on the time and effort that would be needed to go get the body and clean it of meat and other resources. She pushed her zebra mask away from her face and replacing it with her sunglasses, then started climbing down the metal stairs of her lookout spot and on to the roof of the building it stood on, starting to move through the rooftop routes in the direction of the entrance to the HQ, out of which the Stark Commander was coming out of just as Z approached.

"Oh, hey, chief!" She called out from the roof, waving to the dark-haired woman. "Dropped a bogey about 700 meters south, on the main street. I was going to go in and see if some of the lads are up to go drag it back? Radioactive death rabbit is my favorite snack." That bit was added as a weak attempt at humor.

Liam crossed off another item on the clipboard he held, continuing at a tight pace to the next storage room on the list to be checked. Inventory was as tedious as always, but it was an important task, especially with the Boiling Death coming up. It was of vital importance knowing how many of every single item they had on hand, knowing exactly how many millilitres of water they had and how much they could stretch it out with rationing to ensure they'd have as much as they could gather to make sure their people would make it through the bad days. To his farmer eye, used to water in larger quantities, it looked like not enough at all, even if for some of the newer recruits - especially the ones not from the A Ring - it obviously seemed as all the water in the world. He could see it in their starstruck eyes and the way they handled the water jugs, sometimes as if it was the most precious thing in the world and in others like a luxury that they had too much of and didn't need to be as careful as Liam would have them be with it.

There he was again, mind wandering halfway through counting steel scrap. Liam shook his head and bit off a sigh, continuing on the inventory. He was honestly ready for distraction before he fell asleep on his feet, and that really wouldn't do while he was supposed to be fully focused.

She laughed, even then, glad that Elena was trying to keep the mood light. Yoshika raised her hand in a weak, sloppy salute; more of a joking, playful and friendly gesture. "Heya, soldier!" She called up to the rooftop where the other female was perched. "Soldier" was a nickname she liked to use for the Stark members under her care, though she prided herself in knowing each one by name, and they weren't technically an organized army, she reasoned that they were all soldiers, surviving out here. "There's no one down there, at the moment, but I would be glad to help ya drag it back," Yoshika responded. Clipping her raven mask to her belt and throwing the cloak around her shoulders, she started toward Elena.
