Echo - 16 - Heterosexual - Female - Single - Power: Hexes - Location: Forest - Tags: Rio, Tommy

"Curse?! Curse?! Your labs are a curse! No one ever comes out of there! Why would I trade my freedom for a death sentence?!" Echo was shouting now. It was obvious that someone had to beat some sense into these "peacekeepers". They clearly did not understand what exactly people could do in those labs. It was almost certain that instead of curing them, they were simply studying and trying to exploit their abilities. She felt the man's hand loosen and tried to yank it free as soon as he did so. However, he still maintained a solid grip. "Do I look like a threat to you? I would have dispatched you long ago if I was some blood thirsty killer. If you'll noticed, I've refrained this entire freaking time!" She turned to look over at the other supposed humanoid. "And you! Where the heck did you come from? Have you been following me this entire time?" The girl yanked on her arm again, sweating. Reasoning was starting to leave her and her patience was dwindling. Finally, she whipped around and kneed the peacekeeper as hard as possible in the gut. Hopefully at least enough to stun him.

(Sorry this is short. Wanted to give you a chance to respond. If he manages to hold on, then she stays put. If not, then lets assume she heckin runs again XD)

xxxxxrio stopped not to far off when he heard the girl begin struggling and speaking frantically again. it made uncertainty begin to bubble in his gut. he leaned against a tree, shoulders relaxed, but anyone could see the way his fingers were digging into the rough bark in case he had to bolt. "i'm not a threat to you, girlie." he had the nerve to pout and fake an offended look. "although you, my man, just gotta tell me something. would you trust a person you were brought up to fear and willingly walk away with them?" his eyes flickered to the red liquid trailing down the girl's arm as he continued absently, "maybe it is a game for you all. but i'm not playing. she isn't either." his gaze snapped back to the man when he remembered his last statement, a snarl curling his lips as he raised his shoulders in anger. "gosh.. i lost my family because of your beliefs. they just brainwash everyone and use humanoids for their sick experiments." he forced himself to relax again, letting himself fall back against the tree with a soft thud. he raised an eyebrow at the girl when she asked him her next question, turning his head to the side to show off the thick tattoo on the side of his neck. "really? the feathers don't give it away?" he tapped it twice as he licked his lips in thought, the silver of his tongue piercing flicking out at the movement. "anyway, she is right. don't you think humanoids would kill to save their own hides? isn't that one of the lies they teach you?" he had to choke back the surprised laugh that threatened to come out as the girl hit the man in the gut. ouch. putting his hands up in mock innocence, he shook his head. "whoa, don't go doing that to me too, kid."

Jazmine immediately recognized Jane's shouting outburst. When he first came here, she'd been confused but too nervous to ask him about it, so she'd gone to the library and researched his outbursts, eventually settling on a form of Tourette Syndromel. Jaz turned her head away slightly, only looking back at the two when Jackie spoke.

Marley sucked in her breath as Zane pulled her into a hug. She wasn't much for the touchy-feely stuff, especially when someone else initiated it, but Zane's hug.. actually felt really good. So she softened a little, her stiff shoulders loosening. She gave him a quick squeeze then pulled away, letting out a sigh of breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. Marley gave Zane a quick smile. "Yeah, I bet Jaz is wondering where the heck we ran off to."

Tommy looked between them, then to the hand still grasping onto Echo's wrist. He sighed heavily. They had a point, and he knew they did, but he wasn't even supposed to be giving them an opportunity to prove him wrong. However he had, and he felt a weight on his shoulders because of it. He released Echo and took a quick glance behind him to make sure nobody was watching them secretively. "God, this is really not what I'm supposed to be doing now. But I'm not a man of defiance- I get your point, I really do, okay? I- gosh, I don't know what to do." Tommy said, mainly to himself in a hushed tone. "Do I really believe you're dangerous? yes and no. You have the capability to be dangerous, but like you said, you would have used it against me by now. Both of you would have." He said, casting his gaze towards Rio. Tommy had always been the type to listen to everyone's point of view, and kept an open mind, but this position of his wavered that truth a little, and he felt bad for it. But what was he to do? He couldn't possibly let two humanoids free? His actions could have angered them, and they could go back to their group and come back and cause utter chaos. He doubted that this job was appropriate for him. He was way too empathetic. His eyes had wandered to the ground as he became lost in thought.

Robert Hunt ~ Male ~ Twenty-Four ~ Human
Location: Lost Kids Kitchen -> Hallways ~ Tags: Tucker, Damian

The kid was rude, that was for sure. Very entitled with how he'd framed his words. Brat. Robert nearly stated it out loud but held back from it considering Damian gave his name right after. Though the title was tacked onto Damian now in Roberts mind, first impressions and all that. It was nearly expected considering the kid was a Humanoid. Rob opted to take this as an exit, "Checking on the food stores, have fun." He nodded to Tucker as he passed by his brother, heading for the doorway they'd entered from with plans to locate the closet under the stairs that was mentioned. The building might be a large one but they'd come from the stairs so it shouldn't be difficult to backtrack and locate.

Echo darted away from the peacekeeper and whirled around to keep an eye on him. She looked over to the guy with the bird tattoo and her jaw almost dropped. "You're that macaw that kept following me. I didn't want to believe that you were a shifter..." she growled and focused back on the peacekeeper. At least here, they had a common enemy. Echo noticed how torn her seemed to feel and almost felt sorry for them. Then again, hadn't he signed up for this type of job? "I'm not quite sure what is going on in your head, but I do know that you probably make a lousy peacekeeper." It was a bold thing to say that could go both ways. It could either steer him back towards turning them in or convince him to drop the job. "The press loves to make us look like killing machines. But honestly, we're just trying to defend ourselves from you guys. Look at me and tell me that going to a lab and getting experimented on sounds fun. Being tortured constantly or brainwashed. Sorry but that doesn't sound humane to me. Or enjoyable." she shifted her weight to her other leg and sighed. "I've been hiding out here for years from you guys. I've never hurt anyone. I'm just surviving out here because you guys forced me to go into hiding. Either hide or die. I highly recommend you reevaluate your views." The man seemed like an open-minded person so hopefully her words did something for him. She doubted humanoids and peacekeepers had civil conversation often. Looking back towards the way she came, Echo extended her arm and began to slowly wave her fingers. A green vapor encased her hand as she did so. After a few seconds, her knife came drifting through the brush and dropped into her other hand. She turned and placed it back in its sheath and buttoned the clip that kept it from falling out this time. "I'm Echo by the way."

He watched and waited patiently for the other to come down from the roof. And as expected he eventually did, sliding down and coming to the ground in order to talk.
He watched him carefully, tilting his head a bit and humming a little
"I wanted to ask if you knew about the Lost Kids?" he asked softly, not even caring to look back and forth for peacekeepers. He knew where they were, and there wasn't anyone nearby to disclose their location
"We house people like you and I. If you're interested, its somewhere where you can be safe from humans and peacekeepers alike."
It was a lot of information in a little amount of time, but he conveyed it perfectly and offered another smile
"So what do you say? Would you like to come back home with me?"

He glanced to the kid who seemed to be relaying information to the other. Or so it seemed, Kris couldnt read sign language and couldnt tell this kid was just listing oaths
"Tall man.. skinny, thin.. silver hair vis red und blue eyes. Last seen vearing grey." He explained while watching now the girl whom he was asking
"Tattoo on his face.. probably valking around vis a little girl. No relation, but he's awfully quick und slippery. Got past me vhile trying to bring him in."
He sighed while rocking back and forth on his heels, stuffing his hands into his pockets
"Humanoids like him deserve to be in jail.. zey are dangerous und a hazard to ze general public. If you see him please report immediately to ze peacekeepers, ja?"

He sighed and felt a lot calmer after that outburst. Maybe he should do it more often? Not in public, of course. He'd much rather do it in his room.
Jackie was saying something, he blinked a few times and every spoken word was lost to him. That is until he heard her voice in his head again and he smiled happily
"Oh no I'm okay!" he chuckled while wringing his hands together a little
"I'm actually quite happy! I'm happy to hear your voice again."
His eyes flicked from Jackie to Jazmine, and his smile faded just a little. Something was wrong, he had done something wrong.
"Was I too loud? I'm sorry.. I was.. I had to shout.."

"Happy to hear my voice again?" Jackie asked aloud, confused. "But I've been speaking this entire time!" Pushing that aside for the moment, she focused on his second statement. "No, no, you weren't too loud." She assured Jane quickly, "I was just worried is all. I thought maybe something was wrong. But since you're OK, everything is good." She glanced back at Jazz, and spoke to her for a moment. "Oh, I forgot to say, I've got a couple of different powers. I've got hydrokenisis, telepathy, and teleportation! But the last one really tires me, so I can't use it much........"

Tommy smiled at her remark, eliciting a slight chuckle. "Yeah, I mean, I'm kind of new to it. and I think I'm realizing I've done it for all the wrong reasons." He said in a slight mumble. The man listened to Echo's every word, and couldn't argue against it. It made sense. I mean sure, if the humanoids really were insane killing machines, his job would make a lot more sense. But if that were true, then why was he here in the middle of the woods, vulnerable and alone, having an okay conversation with a pair of them right after threatening to turn them in? He was the perfect target, especially since he obviously didn't have any powers. Tommy's train of thought broke as he noticed the green vapor, and then the knife that emerged from brush and into Echo's hand. He raised a brow, observing the magic. "I'm Tommy. Thanks for not killing me and all that jazz." He said softly. He took a look around, and sighed. "I won't tell anyone about this. But if I find out you've done any harm, then and only then will I have to do something about it."

Jazmine was confused by Jane's words as well, but decided to ignore it. She immediately felt bad for how she had reacted to his outburst, and cleared her mind, letting a genuine smile come to her face. "It's okay! Sometimes I need to take a moment a check myself." She turned to Jackie. "Oh, telepathy? Really? I think that's a new one around here."

Tucker glanced between Robert and Damian, relaxing as the boy introduced himself as the 'local jerk', and his brother seemed unbothered. "So," he jumped into the conversation. "Do you like it here? I mean, do you ever get used to living here?" Tucker still hadn't gotten used to living on the run, even with everything his brother did for him. He gave his brother a little wave as he left the room, resisting the urge to run after him.
