Echo maintained her composure on the outside. But on the inside, she desperately wanted to kick something. Of course he's a peacekeeper. Just my luck. As soon as I falter, he's gonna turn me in. She noted how he seemed to stand taller, trying to control the situation. Echo tensed her muscles run but forced herself to stay put. "Oh you're one of those people. I've heard about them but I've never actually met one before. I don't really understand their job but I guess that's none of my business." It wasn't a lie. Why would someone promoting the peace between humans and humanoids still try to capture and submit humanoids to the labs and prisons. Surely they knew that that didn't sound like any type of peace to them. She blinked slowly, listening to his next question. "I was out hunting. I was basically raised in this forest. My dad lives towards the outside of the city and has taught me how to hunt since I was a young girl. It was kinda like our father daughter bonding time." she smiled at the thought. "I was in pursuit of a deer when I crashed into you." Okay, that sounded somewhat plausible. Hopefully. However, if in depth questions continued, she wouldn't have a choice but to run. Echo didn't really have a desire to use her ability on him if she didn't have to. She couldn't always control it and in high adrenaline situations, she could accidentally decapitate him or something. "Anyways, it was nice meeting you but I should really get going now. If I hurry, I may be able to catch up to that deer." And that was when it happened. Due to the rush of adrenaline, a flash of glowing green darted flashed through her eyes. It was slight and hard to notice but noticeable enough to possibly give away her secret. She cursed inside her head and slowly began to back away, keeping a close eye on the man.

He watched and waited patiently for the other to come down from the roof. And as expected he eventually did, sliding down and coming to the ground in order to talk.
He watched him carefully, tilting his head a bit and humming a little
"I wanted to ask if you knew about the Lost Kids?" he asked softly, not even caring to look back and forth for peacekeepers. He knew where they were, and there wasn't anyone nearby to disclose their location
"We house people like you and I. If you're interested, its somewhere where you can be safe from humans and peacekeepers alike."
It was a lot of information in a little amount of time, but he conveyed it perfectly and offered another smile
"So what do you say? Would you like to come back home with me?"

He glanced to the kid who seemed to be relaying information to the other. Or so it seemed, Kris couldnt read sign language and couldnt tell this kid was just listing oaths
"Tall man.. skinny, thin.. silver hair vis red und blue eyes. Last seen vearing grey." He explained while watching now the girl whom he was asking
"Tattoo on his face.. probably valking around vis a little girl. No relation, but he's awfully quick und slippery. Got past me vhile trying to bring him in."
He sighed while rocking back and forth on his heels, stuffing his hands into his pockets
"Humanoids like him deserve to be in jail.. zey are dangerous und a hazard to ze general public. If you see him please report immediately to ze peacekeepers, ja?"

He continued to shout until he was done, everything was out and he felt better about it. He blinked a few times and sighed, feeling a bit of tingling in his throat. Perhaps he was too loud? He couldn't tell.
Jackie could tell, she was there in an instant and he flinched at her touch. His head flicked to look at her in surprise and searched her face for an answer. She looked so concerned, he looked a little upset as if he had done something wrong. Was something wrong?
Perhaps they said something and he just didn't catch it
"I'm sorry.." he breathed while shaking his head
"Did I miss something?" he asked, a response different to what Jackie was probably looking for

Jackie tilted her head and frowned, unsure how to respond. She spoke aloud, stating, "Not much, Jazz just told me about the rules and stuff. She said you could show me around the place some more if you want!" She smiled again, but then relayed through their telepathic link so only Jane could hear, "But I'm a little worried about you. You were shouting kinda loud. Did we make you upset?"

Tommy chuckled as she mentioned that she didn't understand the purpose of his job, and even implied that it was inappropriately named. While he did somewhat agree that she had a point, he chose to block that thought out, and remember all the damage humanoids caused in the beginning. Humanoids were dangerous, and to be taken care of properly, so that may no longer be a concern. He only nodded gruffly to the rest of her remarks about her supposed 'deer chase'. It seemed weird to him, but he was more interested in her first remarks. He noticed her antsy behavior, how she seemed to really want to get away from him. "Woah woah woah there, what's bad about removing a dangerous and harmful entity from general public? To protect the people of the town? Humanoids are dangerous, surely you agree?" As he spoke, the the green glint in her eyes caught his. He blinked a few times before narrowing his eyes. Was he seeing things, or was he dealing with an actual humanoid? Most signs pointed towards yes, though he still tried to play it cool. "Surely if you're no humanoid yourself, you won't mind coming back with me to get tested? And if you're not, I'll buy you a meal for the trouble." His heart had picked up, as the realization crept up on him. His first humanoid was right in front of him.

Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap. The situation was only going from bad to worse and he was definitely on to her. "I really can't go with you. I'm sorry but my dad really wants that deer." she reasoned, desperately trying to avoid a nasty situation. Echo, realized that there really was no going back at this point. Her only options were to either run or possibly use her ability to subdue the peacekeeper. She didn't like the idea of possibly killing him though. "As much as I'd like to continue this conversation, I need to go." and with that, she completely turned around and began running like her life depended on it. Because it did. If she was caught, she was done for. Those that went into those labs never came out. She was determined to stay out of one of those hell holes. Her heart thundered in her chest and she took in deep breaths of air. Her lungs burned but she forced her legs to move faster. The man was taller than her and likely faster but that certainly wasn't going to stop her from trying to escape. If she needed to, she would use her ability. However, she really hated the idea of killing people. Plus, that would only confirm how dangerous humanoids were. The last thing she wanted to do was add to their already terrible reputation. Echo winced as a branch scratched at the right side of her face, irritating the scar tissue on her cheek. The wound on her arm really began to bleed as her heart pounded and branches and shrubs scratched at it. Echo felt herself grow light-headed but pushed it away. If you stop now, you are done. Keep trying. Keep going.

xxxxxrio felt his stomach drop as he heard the girl's raspy voice get even more panicked. she wasn't taking the confrontation well, but who could blame her? no, no.. don't do anything bad, kid.. his eyes got stuck on the flicker of green in the girl's eyes and knew it was over. if he had seen it, this man had. the man was trying to seem kind, sweet talk her into following. swaying back a forth for a moment, he tried to decide whether or not to intervene, but the girl made that choice for him. oh no... he stood in frozen shock for a moment as he watched the girl turn around an bolt. did she want to get caught? without really thinking about the consequences, he began to dart through the trees after her, no longer focused on the peacekeeper at all. what could he do? nothing. all she could do was run, all he could do is not get caught as well. his heart pounded with fear as he finally caught up so they were side to side, the only thing separating them brush. it was obvious he was there now, the frantic footsteps beside her. ah, this kid was done for.. and what about himself? the rest of the lost kids? he had to make sure she steered herself clear of anyone else...

Tommy was about to protest when the girl took off. His eyes widened in surprise and while he stood completely still for a second in shock, took after her. He didn't run full speed, not only because his long legs could carry him just the tiniest bit farther than the girl, but also because he didn't want to start off in full pursuit, trying to still persuade her while still being nice. He was doing this for his job, he didn't have to turn into an angry person in the process. However that being said, if she stayed so defiant, he would have to. This is a dangerous person. Are they even people anymore? They're killing machines, just like you were taught. He told himself, not letting his morality jumble everything up. As he was about to speak, he saw as yet another person emerged from what almost seemed like thin air. His eyes narrowed, and he sped up. How long was that one there? Was he a humanoid too, or a human protecting the humanoid? He was a little worried now, as it was not only 2 against one, but 2 that possibly both had mystery powers and 1 with absolutely nothing. Tommy sped up, his only mission now to at least stop one of them. It was dangerous- more than dangerous, but he had pretty much no other options. He was definitely ill prepared to say the least. His chest heaved as he bolted through the forest, shoving aside large overhanging branches and brush. Tommy extended an arm, swiping at Echo's. This went on for a few times before he finally grabbed a hold of her wrist. He quickly spoke just as he had grabbed her, trying to ensure that she wouldn't just started ripping him apart with any powers she had. "This... is my job... you have.. to come with me." He said in between huffs, catching his breath. "If you just allow... me to take you to the lab.. you will come out perfectly fine.." The last he heard, they were working on some sort of way to subdue these humanoid powers, and what he was told was, once the humanoid was 'cured', they'd just be released. They just needed to run tests and stuff.. right? Come to think of it, he never noticed any humanoid come back out. Tommy tried not to think of this though, and tried to seem firm in his statement. All the while, he had a hand firmly on her wrist. If there weren't this other potentially dangerous person right here, he would have just had both hands behind her back and carried her to the lab, but he had to tread carefully.

He sighed wishing he could believe that nothing he did while in that state was his fault. But even he knew the beast inside feeds off of what he wants. His first change he went and killed a bully, his second change he killed an abusive father. The beast knew what Zane wanted to do but couldn't do he did it instead. "Marely, I wish I could believe th as t everything's okay. But if that happens again and I'm home, our home it won't be my home anymore." He said simply before noticing her light tears. He was mad that he made her cry that's not what he wanted, he mentally yelled at himself. It was supposed to be a nice evening, and there he was taking pity. "Come on Marely, I'm sorry. Let's just get home." He gave a soft smile before pulling her towards him and giving her a hug, to comfort her, but if he was honest he needed it just as much.

Echo just kept running as fast as she possibly could. No, no, no. As she was running, she glimpsed another figure out of the corner of her eye. Had he caught up to her so fast? She came to a sliding stop, unsure who this new figure was. Was it another peacekeeper? Did they normally hunt in pairs? Since when was that a thing? "Who are you!?" she shouted and narrowed her eyes at him. Echo met his gaze and realized that it seemed familiar. But how did she already know this person? The girl noticed the parrot tattoo on his neck and came to the conclusion that she wouldn't forget the face of a man with such a bright colored tattoo. Especially a bird tattoo. Then a thought occurred to her. Was this the bird that had been following her around for the past few hours? It would make sense. That meant that he was a humanoid just like her. Perfect. Another person to worry about. While she was distracted, Echo felt a hand grab her wrist and she instantly leaped to the side. Instinctively she grabbed for her knife. Unfortunately, all her hand found was an empty holster. It must have fallen out while she was running. The iron grasp on her arm didn't give as she fought blindly. Sure enough, it was the peacekeeper. By now, Echo was shaking from adrenaline,blood loss, and anxiety. She had a choice to make. Possibly blast his head off or let herself be taken in. Neither sounded like a good idea. She kept as good as a distance from the two strangers as possible. Her gaze darted between them, not trusting either. "Do not do this. I'm giving you a choice now. Walk away. Both of you." The green in her eye flashed again, more vibrant this time. Maybe she didn't have to blast his head off. An idea was forming in her head. It would take a lot of energy since she did not practice on large objects with her ability but it just might work. Her arm began to throb more intensely as she strained on it to get away. Blood continued to slide down her arm and onto the peacekeeper's hand. Hope you're happy buddy cause you look like the terrible one right now. she thought, growing more anxious and irritated with the entire situation.

"If I let you go, what are you gonna do? What even can you do? For all I know you could kill the whole population in one swipe. It's dangerous, don't you wanna be freed of that kind of burden? I-" He stopped as he felt liquid dripping down his hand. It was the blood of the girl. Feeling empathetic, he loosened his grip just slightly, and made eye contact with her. "If I let go, will you just stay and listen to me? You too," He nodded his head in the general direction of the other person, his heart racing a million miles a minute. While he put on a cool and collected face, he was mad panicking on the inside. He was literally in the face of what he only knew as two very dangerous entities, and still he was trying to be reasonable with them. "I mean, think about it. Haven't I been so kind and gracious towards you? What happens when a different peacekeeper finds you? I have colleagues who rip your guys' lives apart just for the fun of it. It's a game to them. It should be to me too, but it's not. I only want to help rid you of this dangerous curse so you can live a normal life like the rest of us, and not be a total danger and destruction to all of civilization. I've seen too much to be okay with any of this." Tommy explained, trying to disguise the slight waver in his voice. This job was important to him, and he could handle it fine, he was strong enough. But this was his first encounter, and he was trying to do everything carefully and painlessly. It was a lot of pressure.
