    cast away for their unusual powers, these kids have made a home away a from home, a somewhat safe haven to live.

once, a popular doctor for high-ups discovered he had incredible powers. he could create and control fire, and there seemed to be no limit to his powers. he was the first of many. all over people began discovering their powers, and some became insane with it. after only a month, all chaos broke loose. a power-crazed humanoid set fire to a school, and although there were no casualties, no one came out of that building uninjured. the government made a nation-wide announcement that all humanoids were to be captured and thrown in a government "safehouse". except it wasn't a safehouse, it was a jail and a lab.

    now, ten years later, the population believes humanoids are incredibly dangerous, and are to be avoided at all costs. if a child is discovered to be a humanoid, they are to be thrown out of their house. they may not go to homeless shelters or receive care from child services; they must live on their own. once a humanoid reaches the age of sixteen, they are to be taken to the government safehouse (suspected to be a lab by humanoids), to remain for the rest of their lives. the lost kids are a group of humanoids who live in a hideout, most of them under the age of eighteen, as it's difficult to remain hidden from peacekeepers when you are older.

rules of the roleplay:.
xxthese may not be broken
    - ooc and forms must be posted on the discussion thread
    - try to keep genders even
    - no overpowering powers, and max. of 3 powers per characater
    - LGBT+ is encouraged
    - reservations last 24 hours
    - after 2 weeks (14 days) of unannounced inactivity, you will be sent a pm and given 7 days to post
    - try not to make histories too similar (mainly in the children)
    - you must have one human per every two humanoids
    - you may make a human who discovers they're humanoid in the
    xx rp, but you must state that it will happen in your form


rules of the lost kids:.
xxthese may be broken
xx(a paper is tacked to the outside of the leader's door with these rules)

    - the leader's word is truth
    - stay away from law enforcement
    - if you must go into the city, try to be inconspicuous
    - if your power is dangerous/uncontrollable/etc., do not use them indoors
    - do not use your powers in front of humans
    - always look out for other humanoids, no matter who
    - never speak to humans unless necessary
    - never tell the peacekeepers anything
    - in case of attack, seek shelter in the cellar in the backyard. do not let the peacekeepers
    xx find it. caretakers and children should be first inside, then everyone else. if necessary,
    xx scouts may hide in the woods. if the cellar is located by any peacekeepers, it
    xx must be bolted shut from the inside. scavengers and hunters must make the building
    xx appear abandoned by any means necessary. defenders help the children and others.


rules of the humans:.

    - all humanoids should be avoided
    - if your child is a humanoid, disown them
    - do not harbour fugitives
    - do not disobey law enforcement
    - do not associate yourselves with any humanoids
    - peacekeepers are here to protect civilians, obey them

    - if you are a humanoid, stay away from all humans
    - if you are a humanoid and you reach the age of sixteen, turn yourself in to the nearest peacekeeper
    - if you are a humanoid, you have no rights
    - any humanoids caught by a peacekeeper, no matter the age, may be taken in for questioning

    - anyone found breaking these rules will be arrested and charged with a sentence of up to twenty years in prison

R O L E S

leaderthe humanoid who leads the lost kids. likely extroverted and strong, good at decision-making. probably has the strongest powers.

co-leaderthe humanoid who leads the lost kids when the leader cannot. organizes things and watches over group.

defendersthe humanoids who guard and defend the building. will accompany others when asked. likely strong, very loyal, street smart and/or agile.

huntersthe humanoids who hunt wild game in the nearby forest. may ask to be escorted by defenders. likely loyalty may not be strong, and/or are brain smart.

scavengersthe humanoids who find and gather food for the group, whether that be berries, nuts, vegetables (garden), or food from stores and such. may ask to be escorted by defenders. likely loyalty may not be strong, and/or are brain smart.

scoutsthe humanoids who scout the area around the lost kids' house, and keep track of peacekeepers' movements, routine, and schedule. they are good at tracking and staying silent, likely very resourceful and/or responsible. likely loyalty very strong.

caretakersthe humanoids who care for the younger children of the group. they tend to be the older members of the group, and usually remain inside the house, or just in the yard, because if they are caught in the city and identified as over sixteen, they will be taken by peacekeepers. they act as parental figures for those who need it. likely gentle, weak, and/or kinder.

childrenthe humanoids who are too young to be left alone (under age thirteen).

lonersthe humanoids who either choose to not be a part of the lost kids, are kicked out of the lost kids for disobeying the rules too frequently without remorse, or are simply unaware of the lost kids' presence.

civiliansthe humans who live in the city. they have no powers. likely hate/fear humanoids.

peacekeepersthe humans who watch for humanoids. they have no powers. they promote peace between humans and humanoids, but capture and subdue any humanoids they find, along with humans who harbour humanoid fugitives, and take them to the government lab/jail that is acting as a safehouse. they may question any humanoids they find, but may not take any into custody unless they are positive the humanoid is sixteen or older.

L O C A T I O N S

lost kids' house
    an old abandoned building is the lost kids' home base. north of the city. thanks to an anonymous donor a few years back, they have plenty of furniture, as well as electricity and running water.

living room
    when you go in the door, there's a hallway, and the first door on the left leads to a sitting/living room, which holds a collection of couches and armchairs, along with a coffee table in the center and a television (that doesn't work and is just for show) on the wall, and a picture window that faces out front.

kitchen and dining room
    at the end of the hallway is the dining room that holds a long rectangular table where it's possible for all the lost kids to eat at it at once, although it's highly unlikely to ever happen. underneath the stairs to the second floor is a closet converted into a pantry, where all of the food is stored. to the left is an open doorway leading to the kitchen, with a basic layout. a fridge, decently sized counter, some cupboards that hold dishes, and a sink.

bathroom
    back in the hallway, to the right is the door leading to the small bathroom with a toilet and a sink, and an adjoining larger bathroom that holds a shower and a bathtub.

bedrooms
    just beside the bathroom are the stairs that lead to the second floor. it opens up into a hallway, and each room is converted into bedrooms. the bedrooms contain two beds and a dresser.

children's rooms
    the third floor has the same layout as the second floor bedrooms, except three rooms have been converted into one large carpeted one. it holds two tables with chairs, a couple of couches, and a shelf that holds toys.

fourth floor
    the fourth floor is a large open space with yoga mats, weights, and a single treadmill. used by defenders for training if they wish to.

roof
    few people know of how to get to the roof. on one walls of the fourth floor, there is a nondescript door with no door handle, only a hole, and is almost invisible. behind the door is a large hidden room, about four steps, and then it opens to the concrete roof. there is a ledge about three feet high, and is rather comfortable to sit on, as long as you're not afraid of heights.

garden and greenhouse
    behind the building is a greenhouse, and an open garden beside it. the scavengers look after them.

basement/cellar
    behind the building, somewhere in the grass before the forest, is a metal trapdoor. it opens up to a metal ladder, which leads down to a large concrete cellar, only one room. it is filled with dusty boxes and unknown items. no one really knows how it got there, what it was used for, or how the boxes of stuff got there, but some of the lost kids like theorize it was an apocalypse freak's bomb shelter.

forest
    behind the building, after a small expanse of grass, lays a thick forest. it is full of deer, rabbits, birds, squirrel, and other woodland creatures. this is where the hunters go to catch game.

    where the humans live. south of the lost kids' house. it's what you'd expect in a big city. alleyways, malls, skyscrapers, apartments, etc.

subdivisions
    to the east of the city. just outside the city, there are small suburbs where some of the humans live, those who don't live in apartments, anyways. basically what you'd expect in a subdivision.

library
    somewhere downtown again. an average library. not huge, but not small. has study areas, sitting/reading areas, a children's area, a teen section, and a row of five computers, for free use.

    downtown, there is a busy, bustling café. it is the hotspot for small group hangouts, with comfy chairs and booths.

this was originally an idea for a book, but it turns out I am incredibly lazy and amazing at procrastinating, even things I love. so I turned it into a roleplay, and it's exploded! I'm so happy with how popular this got, and how friendly all the roleplayers are. so here are some songs I listened to while putting this together. these are the songs I used to build the plot and story, and the world these kids live in.

aware of their absence. they will not be removed for inactivity during the given amount of time.
all dates are approximate, unless otherwise stated with an asterisk*.



these are people who are in danger of being removed due to inactivity. the date is when they
will be removed. if "(pm)" is beside the date, that is when they will be sent a pm. if there is
no "(pm)" next to the date, the user has been sent a pm and given one week to post.
