Aryn rolled out of bed, well-rested and almost ready to face the day. She stretched and got dressed, deciding to leave her hair down, then headed outside, looking for someone to talk to. Lately, she had been somewhat distant from her fellow pack members, but only because she was having some personal problems. Her best friend has been outcast, and she was just beginning to get used to their absence.

Desiree was upset. One of the shifters had escaped, and they hadn't caught him. If he made out to the pack. . . I'm screwed. She knew that it was up to them to keep the shifters under wraps, and if he informed the pack of what they'd been doing, all of their work would go to waste. Sighing, Desiree decided to head to the headquarters. If I get going right away, maybe I can remedy this somehow. When she arrived, she saw Iris, the second-in-command. Taking a deep breath, she walked over, prepared to explain and try to avoid punishment.

Iris-Official
Dear Landlord
Please don't put a price on my soul.
My burden is heavy, dear,
And my dreams are beyond my control,
Oh yes, they are.

Iris stopped when Desiree came to stand infront of her, her gaze cold. "Were you involved in the latest incident? Or, at the very least, educated enough to inform me on what happened and, more importantly, how?" She asked, her tone sharp. She was more concerned than anything, but it didn't prevent much of a front, so she replaced it with harshness. It wasn't her preferred method of handling things, but it was better than looking weak, in her mind. Especially surrounding serious issues like a breech in security so basic as letting someone escape. She pulled herself from her thoughts to push her hair out of her eyes, raising an eyebrow a bit in anticipation of Desiree's answer.

harper was not having a good day. with her teeth bared, she tried to keep herself from shifting into her fox as she threw the door to her room open. “hayden!” she shouted. “we’re going on a run. now.” while harp wasn’t a bad friend, hayden was normally the one she took her anger out on. the two were roommates and best friends, and it was a wonder how the redhead could put up with the short fused brunette for all this time. harper ransacked the closet, throwing random pieces of clothing off of the hangers. finally, she found a lightweight shirt and leggings. slipping them on quickly, she shouted again. “i hate this damn place!” it was a lie, but when she was angry, she couldn’t help it.

her fingers ran quickly through her silky hair, twisting sections into an intricate braid at the back of her head. harper wanted badly to throw something, so she settled on hurling a closet hanger at the door, before slinging another one toward her bed. “i hate it, i hate it!!

kalliope was heading back from an early morning hunt when she saw lawrence. muttering an inaudible course to herself, she looked up at the brunette. kalli had hoped that she wouldn’t see anyone on the way back home, she didn’t want to have to talk to anyone. doubting that lawrence wanted to talk to her either, she lifted her hand and waved at her. her eyes skimmed over lawrence’s wounds, but didn’t bother asking what had happened. kalli herself had a shallow cut above her eye, and a bit of dried blood ran down her face. she was a great hunter, but when something fought back, there was nothing she could do but take the blow and then finish it.

kalliope had had a rough couple of weeks, indicated by the dark circles under her eyes. her muscles ached, and her head throbbed. she hadn’t slept in days, simply because she couldn’t. the shifters and officials were stressing her out, and kalli was the type to crack under pressure

Desiree hesitated for a moment, then decided that explaining the situation was better than standing there like a mute imbecile. "When we started to inject rogues with the serum, they went haywire. They started destroying everything in their path. We had one more to inject, but he ran. We chased after him, and nearly caught him, but he escaped into the city." Desiree said, biting her lip nervously. "We sent out a team after him, but I don't think we'll find him." She looked anxiously at Iris, dread gnawing at her insides as she waited for her verdict.

Iris was silent for a moment, processing, before shaking her head. "I want to speak to anyone who was there injecting people, including you, when Alikea comes around. In the meantime I would like to speak to any of the recruits who were injected but still have their wits about them, but i'm sure I can find someone myself. If you see Alkea, send him my way" She said, straightening up a bit. Something in the back of her mind reminded her she was being too nice, but she ignored it. This was too important to just lash out with blind rage, or turn anyone against her. She held respect for Desiree, and she hoped the woman held the same for her. She didn't like being hated, or feared for that matter.

╚═════════════════════════╝

HAYDEN looked up from her bowl of cereal, her brown eyes still bleary with sleep and her fiery red curls a disheveled mane as Harper seemingly appeared from nowhere. Humming softly to herself, the young woman watched on placidly as the brunette stomped and seethed right past her and deeper into their small apartment. Biting back a cheeky grin, she softly scooted the chair back, wincing slightly as the legs scraped against the worn wooden floor. The tall redhead snagged her bowl, figuring breakfast with a show was about to begin. With long and steady strides, Hayden made her way down the short hallway that led to Harper's room, one eyebrow raising towards the sky as her obviously frustrated companion began to scream.

At this point, there was nothing that Harper could do that would really phase Hayden, and she knew from past experience that the anger wasn't directed towards her nor a reflection of her actions. For the most part she willingly shouldered the brunt of her best friend's rage as it was often short-lived. The pair depended solely on each other in times like this, and they'd grown quite accustomed and comfortable with the other's mannerisms. By now the flirtatious and charming wild child could read her impulsive partner in crime like the back of her hand. "I'm right here darling, there's no need to yell." she called out, her voice raspy yet somehow smooth like honey. It was an intoxicating blend that tended to lure many a woman into her trap. Not Harper. Stifling a snort of disdain, the warrior threw a lopsided smirk in the brunette's direction. "Oh are we now? A run. And what exactly is in it for me?" she mused, only teasing the already riled woman. She couldn't quite help herself.

Hayden watched on quietly with disapproval welling in her brown eyes at the growing pile of clean and ironed clothes that had been tossed haphazardly from the depths of the closet. She was almost certain she'd have to help clean that up later. At Harper's next outburst, the stubbornly opinionated vixen couldn't hold back her laugh any longer. "Oh you do? What exactly was it this time love?" she purred out, the nickname rolling off of her tongue easily as mirth danced across her warm gaze. While she loved to give her fellow warrior a hard time, Hayden knew that she could never deny Harper's requests, especially when she'd been planning on a bit of exercise herself anyways. The more the merrier she supposed.

Hayden managed to duck just in time as a firm piece of plastic came hurtling towards her head, her startled gaze quickly turning into a glare as she whipped around to face Harper. "Watch it there gunslinger." she growled out lightly, grabbing the hanger from the floor and setting it back on the rack in the closet where it belonged. Before Harper could cause any more destruction to her room, the burly redhead enveloped her in two strong arms and shuffled her towards the door. "Go on, get. If we're going to run, lets run. You can tell me all about it." she shooed.

KELLAN sat at the edge of his bed, hands curled tightly around the edge of the mattress as his dark eyes bored blankly into the planks of wood beneath his bare feet. Finally, he managed to muster the strength needed to push himself upwards into a standing poison, all of the muscles in his body screaming in protest. A cringe of discomfort ghosted across his face and a grunt of pain rumbled in his throat as the soreness was truly realized; every muscle ached, begging to be treated. The husky young man pushed aside his discomfort, knowing that there was work to be done and that others were suffering much worse than he. A shudder rippled through his spine and eyes squeezed tight against the memories that flooded his mind. It would almost have been better to lose his mind along with the control of his body so he wouldn't have to relive the atrocities that had been committed at his own hands.

A gnawing emptiness in his stomach reminded him that he needed a proper meal before his day of work could begin. Painfully slowly the ruggedly handsome man set to work dressing himself for the day, avoiding the mirror above his dresser as best he could. The tall shifter pulled on a pair of light wash jeans, jumping slightly to raise them high enough where they could sit comfortably on his hips. A navy v-neck slipped over his head to cover a well toned body, worn boots donned his feet, and a tattered baseball cap settled low on his brow to shield his eyes. Kellan opened the door into the quiet hall, glancing up and down in search of other shifters or officials.

OOC: Here is miss Emily once more <3 I am working on Vaereck and Ketsiah

𝔼 mily 𝔽aolri
Currently a loner | Pup-Dependant | Female | 7 | Guardian: OPEN | Location: her kitchen | Tagged: OPEN

_____"Emmy-Em," her mother's voice sound above her as she felt the gentle rocking of her shoulder. Emily groaned an inaudible response as she looked up through her messy blonde hair. "Oh come on, sleepy head! It's time to get up, we have a big day planned... we- are going- to that new park- down the street," her mother told her, making the girl's bed around her with each pause. "But first breakfast," her mother changed her tone, this time a bit more assertive, however, it didn't much change Emily's pace. "Come on, my little monkey, I made pancakes!" her mother cheered, reaching down and tickling her sides, which of course did arouse a smile from the groggy seven-year-old.
_____Emily walked to her bathroom, sliding her feet along the hardwood floor with each step as picking her feet up required too much work for her at that hour. Stepping up onto her helper stool, the girl looked in the mirror and gave a toothy grin before grabbing her toothbrush and starting her usual morning routine. One minute on the top teeth, one minute on the bottom teeth and to get a comb through her hair as much as possible. When she had been all finished, she had a bit more energy to rush into the kitchen, and climb into her chair's booster seat so that her nose wasn't level with the table top. Her mother was right, there were pancakes! Blueberry ones, her favorite!
_____"DADDY!" she cheered, holding her hands up in the air above her head as her father turned the corner from the living room with his paper in hand.
_____"Good morning, princess," her father greeted her, kissing the top of her head. Emily watched as her mother set down a plate of eggs and sausage down in front of him beside a fresh cup of coffee. "Thank you dear," he responded to her gesture, before pointing to the place in front of Emily. "Woa look at that! Blueberry pancakes!? You're so lucky Emmerson!" he gasped, acting as surprised as possible.
_____"Mommy made them just for me!" she explained her self and all of her spoils. "But you can have one if you really want to?" she offered with risen brows.
_____"Oh no that's alright, sweetie, I can't have any gluten anymore, thanks to your mother's new wellness plan she has me on," he chided, looking to his wife out of the corner of his eye.
_____"Well if someone didn't sneak cupcakes in the middle of the night, maybe your cholesterol would be down enough to-" she began to rebuke his response, but she was cut off at the sound of the doorbell. "Oh- that's weird, I wasn't expecting anyone," Emily's mother said a bit concerned, wiping her hands clean with a dishtowel before rounding the corner to the living room. Their house plan was small, simple and modest. The kitchen was on one end of the house, down the hallway was the living room and the entryway, and up the stairs on top of it all were all of the bedrooms and bathrooms.
_____Emily plopped a piece of a pancake in her mouth as she watched her mother leave the kitchen. She looked to her father who didn't seem concerned in the slightest, he was casually sipping his coffee and reading over the front page of the paper. Suddenly, a loud thump sounded from the other room. There was no gunshot, there was no sound of any harm coming to her mother, just the sound of her body hitting the floor. Emily couldn't identify the sound, but her father had immediately.
_____Setting his coffee down as quiet as possible, her father took Emily's fork and set it down just as silently. The child hadn't even taken a breath after swallowing her pancake bite before she was scooped up by her father and carried around the table. Opening one of the cupboards below the granite countertops, Emily's father carefully tucked her inside and held his index finger to his mouth as he looked at her more serious than he ever had before. "Listen Emmy... I need you to not make a sound... and don't come out until you know it's safe," he told her. He waited for her to nod, her eyes full of tears, before he shut the cabinet and turned to walk out of the kitchen, hoping to defer the intruders any further.
_____He had to think fast, whoever they were- they killed his wife... they would surely kill him and they would kill his child if they knew she existed. The pictures and her set up at the table would only confirm that. "Denise," he called his wife's name. "I'm back from dropping off the little one at school," he lied, knowing full well she was gone, but being careful to hide his child's name. "Deni-" he began to call again, but his voice was cut off and he too had dropped to the floor.
_____Emily's body was vibrating with fear, she was slowly gathering what was happening as she heard the familiar sound once again right after her mother had disappeared. What sounded like an army of boots ran into the kitchen, the sound of splitting wood and the clatter of fallen silverware rang in her ears as they started to destroy her home. Her gasp couldn't be heard over the slamming of chairs into the cupboards as she cried. Emily held her breath and tried to stop the tears as the shuffling of feet dulled and the sound of a heavy mass being dragged out of the kitchen burned itself into her memory.

_____Emily had sat for hours, holding her breath for as long as she could before she took a breath that would hold her over for a few more minutes. When she felt it was safe, as her father had told her, Emily pushed on the cupboard door. It was difficult at first, a broken chair had been propped up in front of it, but the more she pushed, the chair eventually moved. Emily fell out of the cupboard, her fingers spread out on the blood-stained floor as her hands caught her from falling completely. She quickly stood up, tears welling in her eyes once again as she looked around at the dark, broken home that had fallen apart around her.
_____Backing up, her feet stepping on and furthering shattering some broken glass from the photo frames that had been torn off of the wall, Emily stumbled slightly until she felt her back against the countertop. The room was spinning- she didn't know what to think or how to feel, but she suddenly was realizing she was all alone. Pressing her back to the cupboards more, Emily slid down until she was sitting on the ground, wrapping her arms around her knees and hugging them tight to her chest, crying audibly for the first time.

GAVOTTE TENUTO

Alpha Male 37 Peaceful Nature
Tagged: Emily

He was a small, antler-less stag, slimmer than a doe, but faster than both. He bounded through the grass, which was still wet with dew from last night's chill. It was at the same time relaxing and exhilarating to run like this every morning. What he called his daily "walk" was often anything but.
Distant sounds of danger made his ears twitch, but he continued running. A deer's predators clearly differed from the predators of a fruit fly. Gavotte being Gavotte, he could assume that form if needed. It was ideal for a quick getaway.
After a while, he realized he was running toward the dangerous noises. He crouched low in the grass and let himself shift into a small bird, a little sparrow. His long, slender legs shortened and his body shrank as wings sprouted from where his front legs were a minute ago. Soon, a tiny, inconspicuous bird flew out of the brush and towards the sound.
He wasn't sure what mysterious force compelled him to investigate. A peacemaker, gentle and non-confrontational by nature, Gavotte was even confusing himself with this sudden choice. Maybe it was his parental senses kicking into overdrive. His deer's ears had heard something dreadfully wrong up ahead.
When he approached the source of the noises, he could hear the sound of a child crying. It was soft, almost imperceptible, but it stirred up a feeling in him like a mother sparrow flying past dying hatchlings. He quickened his flight. There was a child in trouble out there.
The sight of the house was both appalling and horrifying. Why anyone would destroy a friendly little home by a park was beyond Gavotte. The little sparrow found a hole in a window, with spiderwebs of shattered glass branching out in all directions, and managed to fly inside without clipping his wings.
It was a horrific scene. Crimson stains marred the homely carpet, furniture was mauled and overturned, and debris littered the floor like the remnants of some massacre. This was done by human hands, not some freak natural disaster. Gavotte felt the biting chill of a cold rage sweeping through his heart. What in the name of...
He landed in a corner well away from the shattered glass and bloody mess. The child's crying was closer now, a heart-piercing sound. The Alpha Male shifted back into his unassuming human form and heaved a sigh. The remains of the living room loomed like ghosts at his feet.
"Hello?" Gavotte called out into the dark hallways. His voice was soft, unthreatening, and hopefully the child wouldn't be afraid of him. Alpha Male he was, but not a stereotypical one.
He walked through the house at a slow pace, keeping his footsteps audible so the kid knew where he was. It wouldn't do well to surprise them. And, if any of the hoodlums who made a mess of this place showed up, Gavotte would deal them accordingly. No murder, but he would make sure they never did it again.
The sound of the crying led him to the kitchen. The tiles were a mess. This place had the lingering aura of a home reduced to a desolate ruin. No place for a child.
He spotted her curled up against the cupboards. She was small, young, no older than seven or eight years old, hugging herself as she cried in the remains of her old home. Gavotte's silent anger was replaced by pity- he was awash in sympathy for this little tyke. Right now, all that mattered was getting her somewhere safe.
"Hey," Gavotte's voice was gentle as he approached. "Hey, it's alright."
His heart ached even more as he realized the child was blonde, light flaxen hair with natural streaks of a darker straw tone. The same blonde as his own daughter Grazioso. And her teary eyes were even the same shade of silvery blue.
My child?
He wanted to run to her, to scoop the little pup up in his arms and cradle her like she was four years old. He wanted to rock her until she forgot all her troubles and fell asleep in his arms. He wanted to tell her it was alright, father was here to protect her and would always be here.
But he couldn't do that. This was not Grazioso. This was a stranger's child, a seemingly orphaned one, the only survivor of some grisly murder. All Gavotte could do was approach slowly, quietly, showing he was no threat. The poor child had experienced enough trauma to last her a lifetime.

PARLANDO TENUTO

Alpha Heir 18 Calm Nature
Tagged: Lawrence, Jennifer

Parlando jogged along the forest trail at a leisurely pace. Lawrence had run ahead, but the heir wanted to continue slowly and enjoy the scenery. He was a relaxed type, like his father, believing life shouldn't have to be a daily violent struggle. He much preferred baking bread over tearing someone's throat out.
However, he immediately broke into a sprint upon hearing Lawrence call his name. There was no time for delay, hesitation, or even thinking things through. No time to waste at all. Parlando shifted into a stag to give himself more speed, dashing through the familiar forest he knew like the back of his own hand.
When he finally reached Lawrence, she already had a guy pinned on the ground. Of course. Upon closer inspection, it was a traitor whose name Parlando hadn't spoken for years. The stag shook his head and turned back into a human, antlers disappearing and legs shortening as he resumed his usual form.
"Nice work, Fire Girl," He chuckled. "Let's take this guy where he belongs."
Parlando took the guy's top half, restraining his arms from any movement as they carried him. He loved working together with Lawrence. Although she was quite the independent fighter, he was always happy to give support, especially for these kinds of matters. Traitors tended to be unpredictable.
Once they brought the guy to Jen, Parlando was about to explain the circumstances. Before he could even get a word out, his mother shushed him. She already knows this guy.
Parlando nodded silently and left. Lawrence was already out of sight, so Parlando returned to the woods, resuming his jog. His father took a walk every morning. As a child, Parlando would accompany him, but nowadays he preferred to set his own pace. He wondered where his peers were. Who knows? Maybe I'll run into Lawrence or somebody else.
He stopped in his tracks as a horrible scream of agony rang out from behind him. It clearly came from the traitor being executed by his mother. Parlando breathed a sigh, suddenly not in the mood to continue running. He walked aside and sat down on an old stump, covered with moss and blossoming with mushrooms.
Parlando wished his mother wouldn't be so brutal. The traitor was already going to be executed. She could just shoot him or something. What was the purpose of making him suffer in his last moments? Parlando would never understand. Maybe he would ask her someday, preferably when she wasn't in a murderous mood.

𝕂 etsiah 𝔹lackthorn
Asmosdeus Pack | Assassin-Cunning | Female | 18 | Single | Crushing on: OPEN | Location: | Tagged: Open

_____Shoulder blades rolling with each daintily placed step as she stalked low and stealthily between bushels and trees, Ketsiah narrowed her eyes as she came upon her target. It was still early in the day for her, she had managed to track down two of the three outcasts (NPC's) that had been turned over to the government's control, keeping her tabs current of course, and after this, two of those three would be dead and out of commission. The hardest part for her, was knowing that these people were just like her up until the moment the switch was flipped in their brain. It almost made them harder for her to kill.
_____The brute she had been following was taking the trash out from his shady apartment building- probably all he could afford working two jobs, one of which being slave to the government, which she assumed didn't pay well. He was thin, but much taller than her, she wasn't aware of his wolf however. Sometimes a person's human size was a bit undermining compared to their wolf, unfortunately for Ketsiah, everyone was usually larger than her. It didn't make her any less lethal though. Ketsiah bounded around the corner, her flank grazing the concrete retaining wall of the corner she had cut tightly, before ducking into the alleyway and under the dumpster the brute was headed for.
_____Luckily for her, this outcast, in particular, was a bit on the short side when it came to intelligence. He wouldn't know a fox from a cat or small dog if it bit him in the jugular, which was exactly her plan. Ketsiah's tail flicked violently left and right as she watched his feet walk their way closer, she felt the vibration of impact above her as his trash landed in the dumpster, shooting out, and trying her hardest to make a loud thump into the waste receptical just adjacent to the one she was under without hurting herself. The girl resisted a smile as she saw the brute turn around to see her small form crippled up on the broken pavement of the alleyway.
_____Ketsiah pinned her ears to her head and looked up at his human form with upturned brows and eyes the size of saucers. Timid. Afraid. Hurt. It was the perfect game and she was always the winner. As he took a few steps towards her, obviously trying to figure out what she was, Ketsiah scooted back, playing the scared animal, definitely not capable of human thought. Eventually, he picked her up and looked at her, his thumbs under her armpits and the rest of his fingers latched around her ribcage. Sure, if he had known what she was, or who she was... she would have been considered stupid for putting herself in such a vulnerable position, he could end her with the squeeze of his hands likely. Ketsiah knew her stuff though, this guy didn't know a thing.
_____"Are you okay little... kitty?" he asked in an almost concerned voice. The girl felt bad, he seemed to actually care, but he was just a threat now to her pack, he couldn't be trusted. Without much warning at all, her soft, sandy-colored coat turned arctic white and her size alone shifted into a massive wolf nearly 20 times the size of her fox, pinning the man to the ground under her weight. He was really at a disadvantage, he couldn't shift without the government's say so and he was too stupid to get out while he could. Not wanting to draw it out any longer than she had, Ketsiah's icy blue eyes looked ahead to make sure there would be no witnesses before her pearly white teeth clamped down on the tender flesh of his neck, collapsing his jugular and ending his life rather quickly.
_____Ketsiah's maw now stained with the dark crimson of her victim, the wolf sneezed, shaking her head, trying her hardest to get the taste from her mouth. The blood of her own kind was not one she enjoyed much at all. The white wolf walked over the body, bending down to take his shirt in her jaws so she could drag him off out of site, when she heard footsteps at the alley's entrance (OPEN). Ears flicking forward, the wolf turned to see the face that had caught her in the act, what she would do next would define the way the rest of her day went.
_____The young assassin couldn't just leave the body- she was always taught to clean up her mess... but the witness couldn't be let go either, it could lead to poor implications for her pack, or even give her away depending who had seen her. Dragging the body behind the dumpster, the wolf darted around the corner, after the spectator.

_____The vibrant smell of pineapple and zesty barbequed chicken wafted through the brute's nose as he turned his slow cooked dinner for the third time. Vaereck had begun to try and enjoy the small things in life, the simple, underappreciated moments that he used to take for granted. One of which had been cooking a decent meal and taking the time to prepare it with the care it deserved. The brute hadn't always been like that however, in fact, he was quite the opposite. Having fought for his sister's well being most of his life, and then fighting to keep his rage under control, there was never any downtime. Even more so now, that the government had gotten their hooks into him so deep, that even he couldn't fight his way out.
_____It had only happened a few weeks ago- Vaereck had entered his usual fight club line up at one of the bar's underground rings. Since his sister's murder, it was the only thing that kept him going- forget the pack, so he thought- he figured he was better off, even stronger without them. It was his lack of closeness with them however that got him into trouble. That night, he had taken out every opponent he was faced against, it wasn't hard to do, it was almost unfair. For as tall as he was, his weight and muscle mass, the others never really stood a chance. But he gave the government exactly what they wanted, a champion. At the end of the final round, Vaereck had stood victorious, catching his breath and blinking through the blood seeping out of a cut above his eye, but before he knew it, he was fading out.
_____It was like a light switch on dimmer mode. His vision pulsed in and out of focus, turning red, to clear, back to red, until everything went black. The brute woke up days later in a room he didn't recognise, with a job he now had no choice but to take. The pack he once protected was now one he hunted. Vaereck tried to escape it, he wanted to distance himself as much as possible so he wouldn't hurt anyone. He even moved out here, to the middle of nowhere it seemed, in a small cabin in the woods thinking he was out of range. There were nights though, that he would lose control, he didn't have a say, and his body did whatever they told him to. So while he was in control, Vaereck did his best to enjoy the little pleasures he did have control of, one of which being able to have a delicious, home-made, authentic meal from his mother's cookbook.

_____Being raised by two loners that had come together out of love, Emily had no idea of what a pack was, how they operated, or that the Alpha's had multiple forms. The young girl didn't even have the simple knowledge of alternate shifts as she had only just discovered her own wolf. Her parents had of course planned on teaching her the differences, but she was not yet old enough for it to be necessary or relevant. Emily's parents themselves hadn't even really used their alternate shifts, there was no need. For the most part, the family had been living like humans to stay out of the eye of the government, it was just safer that way, so they thought.
_____Having been crying for some time, Emily did hear the flittering of the bird'sings as it entered her home, but never did she think it was possible that the bird was a shapeshifter like her. When she heard the male voice down the hallway, her heart dropped. They're back, was all she could think. Leaning over, her hands pressed to the broken tile floor, glass cutting into her palms as she rotated enough to get to her feet. His footsteps neared, she quickly opened the cupboard she had just come from but to her dismay, she realized it would be all too obvious where she went due to the clear space she had been sitting and the pushed out, dismantled chair she cleared earlier.
_____Emily looked left and right, she considered the option of running, but she was only just a bit taller than three feet, she wouldn't make it far. The girl backed into the corner of the kitchen counters, her heart pounding so hard she could feel her body rock even when she felt she was standing still. That's when he came into her line of sight. She didn't know what the intruders from before looked like- what if he was one of them? Emily shook her head, unable to speak as more tears streaked her red cheeks. Shrinking back down to the floor, the girl crossed her arms protectively over her face, the blood from her hands dripping down her arms as she clenched her fists.
