_____Shen laughed and shook his head. "No, I suppose not," he commented, reminding himself to leave out his secondary thought of
trees don't talk, of course they didn't talk, he would just be stating the obvious. The boy narrowed his eyes and tilted his head slightly at her commented. "Get started?" he repeated. "What exactly is it that you are staring on," he added to his question, curious what he was aiding in by giving her this information, it was too late though, he had given her his notes. The boy laughed as she analyzed his plan and notes, she must not know of his parents work very well if she was questioning.
_____"Trust me, it works- we already field tested it..." he shrugged. "My research is furthering the quality and conceivability, it's adding a fingerprint," he began to explain. "Each wolf has their own scent on top of their species marker... it fades with things like showers or swims, but is relatively unique to the individual. Their scents even change when they find a mate, the two separate scents mingle into one scent that is the same but still different for each of the mated pair," he explained. "We sprayed the fragrance on a volunteer and locked her up with a bunch of the test subjects, they brought her in as one of their own... couldn't even tell the difference," he shook his head, a bright smile on his face. Shen had kept his voice low so only Fleur could hear him in all of this, he knew sensitive ears would be listening if he wasn't careful.
_____"You can still come with me though if you like," he shrugged, pulling out the bottle of spray from his bag and handing it over. "This is pretty light, should last about 24-32 hours," he offered. "If anyone asks to see your wolf no worries, our culture typically doesn't gain that ability until about age 17 anyway," he shrugged. "Has a lot to do with a healthier diet and ability to tend to respond," he explained, hoping he hadn't flooded her with information. Shen's eyes followed her hands and watched as she pulled out a knife, causing him to retract a bit. "Woa, okay... uh, let's be careful though... That can kill us too-" he cautioned, meaning the knife. Nightshade was just a form of food poisoning to a human if ingested, still not pleasant. "We are just observing today though, promise?" he asked. "We may- or ... I guess I may not even kill one all summer..." he admitted. Not only was Shen not trained to really fight wolves, his interest had been more in finding out all of their secrets and learning about them, the way a scientist did. Observation and testing. "I do have a 9 millimeter just in case... but I really was hoping not to have to use it," he admitted with a shrug.

_____"The thirties?" Daniel laughed. She was cute and seemed blissfully unaware. "Wait till winter hits here, then you can let me know what you think," he added. They were lucky to get above 15 degrees most days. When Kirsa took his hand, the boy smirked, it had been a lot easier than he thought, then again, he supposed not knowing who he was had helped his case. "Yep, there is- and I wouldn't worry about it too much, you've done just fine with me... Can't imagine you would have trouble with anyone knowing you're doing so well right here," he remarked giving her hand a gentle squeeze. It was true- Daniel had been the hardest to get along with it seemed, so she would fit in well... and maybe even give him a bit more credibility with the pack, show them he really wasn't so bad after all.
_____"So- Kirsa, tell me more about yourself..." he asked as they walked to the meeting. "Like... why are you a loner? I am kind of a loner myself... my brother is nearly a human- can't shift- and my sister is a kid genius who skipped 3 grades so she thinks she's better than everyone else," he scoffed, shaking his head. "But that's going to change... I really think I can be a big part of this pack... make a difference," he nodded, even though his idea of making a difference was really more of the taking over the entire pack kind of way.
