Avalon allowed herself a mysterious smile as the girl's dog quieted at her touch. "Hm, interesting..." she murmured to herself. It was true, usually animals freaked out around the witches, they could usually sense when something wasn't quite right. This dog seemed different somehow, but the young witch couldn't put her finger on it. As the girl met her gaze, Avalon took the opportunity to practice an illusion she'd been trying to master for a few days now. Ideally, she would have a soft orange flame flicker across the green irises of her eyes, subtle enough that it could be mistaken for a trick of the light. The catch was not having a full on flame ignite on her face. Of course Avalon wouldn't be hurt, but it would be pretty damn terrifying for whoever was around. The witch mentally delved into the magical part of her - she always pictured her magic like a well, where she could send down a bucket and draw up power like water - and forced a small flare across her eyes.
It was a pretty good attempt, maybe a little too bright to be a reflection, but no actual flames... luckily. Drawing her attention back to the girl (who was babbling about houses and Halloween stories) she smiled. "Well, you know what they say, all rumours are sparked by a little truth," Avalon said cryptically. "It's nice to meet you Daisy." She trailed her hand down the German Shepherd's back, still determined to know why he wasn't tearing her to shreds. "No actually, I've lived here my whole life. I was born here," Avalon told her. Unable to maintain anonymity any longer, the witch revealed her name. "I'm Avalon. You say you run around here often? Don't you ever wonder why this part of town is so... deserted?"
