The sun was usually woke Kathrine as it streamed in from the window between the curtains, streaming down upon her where she laid in her bed. Today was different though. There was no sunlight to wake her, but movement in the house did. The beta's ears perked at the sound of footsteps on the old floorboards of the house and soon the smell of Jaakko, the alpha, reached her nose and so she relaxed before her instincts had the chance to get her up. As she sighed, she then felt the chill of the cold coming from the window and realized the warmth of her blankets and covers was gone. She was no longer lying in her bed either as it was cold beneath her as well. Finally, she slowly pried open her icy blue eyes and let her sight adjust to the room around her. She found herself lying on the rug at the foot of her bed with the window to her back and the door to the room in front of her. She also found that her pale human skin was now replaced by her red-brown wolf fur, indicating it had happened again last night. She'd been going to bed in her human form but waking up in her wolf form every night for a week now and she was still unsure of why.
It was true that she felt more comfortable and at home in her wolf's fur, but she wasn't sure what had made the wolf so active to make her shift in the middle of the night and put her where she could clearly see the door. Perhaps it sensed something subconscious that none of them could sense consciously? That could always be the case. With her head between her paws, Kathrine gave a soft yawn, thinking about trying to get a few more moments of rest when her ears perked again to the sound of the front door opening and then the sound of the alpha's voice as he yelped about the cold. Then came the thud as he fell and the crash of whatever it was he'd knocked over. She decided it was time to get up. With a huff, the Beta wolf pulled herself to her paws, stretching her stiff muscles and limbs quietly as to not wake Imogan across the room. As she started to move toward the door, she made her wolf form disappear and bring back her human form, the red-brown and cream fur giving way to her red and black plaid lounge pants and black spaghetti strap undershirt and her slightly disheveled braided light blonde hair. She was used to staying in her wolf form all the time from where they lived before, but now that they lived in town, it meant that she had to keep her wolf form hidden and away from the windows which was why she was glad they had decided to get curtains for their room here so that she had no reason to worry when I woke up in her fur like she had this morning. It honestly made her sad to know she couldn't freely shift into her wolf form as she pleased and stay in it because of people seeing her, but it can't be helped.
Opening the door as silently as possible, stepped out into the hall and quietly walked down it towards the living room. upon exiting the hall and entering said room, her icy gaze landed on where Jaakko now sat on the floor with the pieces of the broken lamp that had fallen off of the side table beside him. Kathrine remained as stoic as ever as she gently shook her head and turned to head towards the adjacent kitchen in search of a morning beverage. "Alpha," she greeted as she walked past him, giving a soft nod of her head to him.
