The alpha had barely gotten any sleep the previous night, causing him to wake up later than usual. He was the last one to go inside every night, after making sure every last pack member was safely in their houses. Yawning, Jaakko rolled over, almost falling out of his bed. He slowly got up, his hair messed up. He shuffled out of the bedroom, not even making an effort to be quiet. He noticed everything outside looked white, so the first thing he did was open the front door and step out. He immediately gasped, however, as his bare feet landed in the freezing snow. "Ah! Cold, cold!" He yelped and ran back inside, slipping and sliding across the floor. He ended up falling on his ass with a grunt, knocking over an old dusty lamp.

The sun was barely up and he had lost count of the times he was woken up, rolled over, and tried to go back to sleep. He hated waking up early but the creaking of the cabin with every step the others took always woke him up. Thanks, wolves. He would give anything to live in the newer buildings in town but with the werewolves around, that dream would stay a dream. He rolled over a few more times, almost to the point where he flopped back and forth, unable to find a comfortable spot. Tired of it all, he flung his blanket off and huffed as he pulled on some winter appropriate clothes consisting of some gaudy sweater, faded black jeans, and some sneakers. Once dressed, he headed to the common area of the cabin, staying near the walls in an attempt to avoid others so early in the morning.

The sun was usually woke Kathrine as it streamed in from the window between the curtains, streaming down upon her where she laid in her bed. Today was different though. There was no sunlight to wake her, but movement in the house did. The beta's ears perked at the sound of footsteps on the old floorboards of the house and soon the smell of Jaakko, the alpha, reached her nose and so she relaxed before her instincts had the chance to get her up. As she sighed, she then felt the chill of the cold coming from the window and realized the warmth of her blankets and covers was gone. She was no longer lying in her bed either as it was cold beneath her as well. Finally, she slowly pried open her icy blue eyes and let her sight adjust to the room around her. She found herself lying on the rug at the foot of her bed with the window to her back and the door to the room in front of her. She also found that her pale human skin was now replaced by her red-brown wolf fur, indicating it had happened again last night. She'd been going to bed in her human form but waking up in her wolf form every night for a week now and she was still unsure of why.

It was true that she felt more comfortable and at home in her wolf's fur, but she wasn't sure what had made the wolf so active to make her shift in the middle of the night and put her where she could clearly see the door. Perhaps it sensed something subconscious that none of them could sense consciously? That could always be the case. With her head between her paws, Kathrine gave a soft yawn, thinking about trying to get a few more moments of rest when her ears perked again to the sound of the front door opening and then the sound of the alpha's voice as he yelped about the cold. Then came the thud as he fell and the crash of whatever it was he'd knocked over. She decided it was time to get up. With a huff, the Beta wolf pulled herself to her paws, stretching her stiff muscles and limbs quietly as to not wake Imogan across the room. As she started to move toward the door, she made her wolf form disappear and bring back her human form, the red-brown and cream fur giving way to her red and black plaid lounge pants and black spaghetti strap undershirt and her slightly disheveled braided light blonde hair. She was used to staying in her wolf form all the time from where they lived before, but now that they lived in town, it meant that she had to keep her wolf form hidden and away from the windows which was why she was glad they had decided to get curtains for their room here so that she had no reason to worry when I woke up in her fur like she had this morning. It honestly made her sad to know she couldn't freely shift into her wolf form as she pleased and stay in it because of people seeing her, but it can't be helped.

Opening the door as silently as possible, stepped out into the hall and quietly walked down it towards the living room. upon exiting the hall and entering said room, her icy gaze landed on where Jaakko now sat on the floor with the pieces of the broken lamp that had fallen off of the side table beside him. Kathrine remained as stoic as ever as she gently shook her head and turned to head towards the adjacent kitchen in search of a morning beverage. "Alpha," she greeted as she walked past him, giving a soft nod of her head to him.

Jaakko was busy grumbling to himself and trying to scoop up all the pieces of broken glass while chunks of snow melted on the floor. He didn't notice the beta enter, due to her coming up on his blind side, until he heard her voice, and he looked up. "Uh, morning." He grunted, slowly getting up and brushing himself off. In front of his pack members, he had to appear serious and humourless, or else he was afraid he'd lose his authority. Straightening up, he lifted his chin and entered the kitchen behind Kathrine. Pouring himself a glass of water, he moved to the window to look outside while he sipped his drink. "I wonder if this was a mistake..." He murmured to himself, biting his lip. No one seemed to be happy ever since he decided to move them here, but he made a promise, and he always kept his promises. Protecting the humans from the vampires was more important than their happiness, he thought.

The apartment was freezing. Tabi shuffled around the cramped kitchen, fully decked out in her winter pyjamas, Ugg boots and robe, yet goosebumps still rippled up and down her arms. The heat wasn't working which was no surprise for her crappy cheap apartment. The cold was beginning to become unbearable, and the young woman was desperate for a coffee. With a groan, she turned away from the espresso machine sat on her counter, realising it had no pods to actually make the coffee. Tabi made her way to her bedroom and flopped down on the bed for a moment, steeling herself to get up, get dressed and go outside. Grumbling complaints to herself, she dressed into a burgundy sweater, jeans, black boots and black coat over the top. Now that she was somewhat functioning, Tabi went into the bathroom, splashed some water on her face, and tugged a brush through her blonde hair. Her wallet, phone and keys sat on the kitchen bench, and she swiped them before heading out the door.

Somehow it was warmer outside the apartment than in, a small blessing in this ridiculous weather. Having lived in Brisbane for nineteen years where 20°C was considered 'winter', it was a bit of a shock to the system to arrive in a town where it snowed for like 3 months straight. The world outside was still and silent, the only movement being the snowflakes steadily drifting down from the blank white sky. Hands buried deep in the pockets of her coat, Tabi began trudging towards the small cafe, about a fifteen minute walk from her lodgings.

"Ah! Vincent," Elvira stammered, Vincent's sudden jolt up in bed having shaken her. Probably another bad dream. She thought, knowing he'd been struggling with them for as long as she remembered. He stood up and stopped at his dresser, mumbling his usual blabber. She never fully understood Vincent, and his vagueness was one of those reasons why. "Ah.. Do you mind if I use the bathroom to get changed?" Elvira covered herself with her ironed sweater and leggings, hating the fact she was in such a messy state. They'd been living together for months but it still felt awkward.

After drinking his morning tea, Alistair sat on the dusty old couch resting in the living room. Not too long after his ears picked up the soft creaking of floorboards. "Which one of you are sneaking around?" He chuckled, lips pressed together forming a not so friendly looking smile. Unlike werewolves, vampires didn't have the innate ability to tell whos scent from whos. It was a guessing game if you lived with many people doing their own things. Thinking out loud, Alistair commented, "I know Roxy left earlier." He was hoping it was Hera but she usually wouldn't be so timid about greeting him good morning.

Inhaling sharply, Janna wondered if today was just not her day. No rabbits or deer were out today and the fridge was low on food. Of course, there was a local grocery store in town but Janna couldn't bring herself to buy anything from there. The pack always hunted for their meals back home and gardening was a sweet bonus in the summer, fall, and springtime. Due to the quick move, the pack was low in many essentials. Although she was more than happy to protect the townspeople, moments of doubt would wash over her.

She had only moved forward a few feet before picking up the soft crunching of snow. It came from behind and she couldn't pick up a scent. Lifting her bow, she whirled around. "Hello?" Janna narrowed her eyes, her lips pursing in thought. Is it one of those vampires?

Vincent nodded, “Go ahead, Elvira. It’s open. You do not need to ask permission from me unless we are in the process of something very important.” Vincent wipes some sweat off of his forehead and looks towards his hands in his lap. Vincent began to set everything they needed on the bottom level of the house out from where they sat. “You know you do not need to address me by my full name Elvira.” Vincent walked out of the bedroom with the supplies in hand having shorts and a tshirt on.

Shiloh Fray
22 / male / warrior

Shiloh's ears honed in on the sound of someone speaking off to his left.
It wasn't close to him, but his enhanced hearing picked up the voice. He couldn't quite recognize the voice, but he figured it was probably Janna since he'd scented her just now. He started in the directed he'd heard her, making his footfalls heavier to show he had no intention of sneaking up on her. Usually he might try something like that, but with tensions high as a result of the vampires around, he'd rather not end up with any bite marks.
He let out a long, low whistle, signalling his approach when he got close enough to really smell her.

His eyes widened a little and he snapped out whatever sleepy fog still lingered. He felt like he had been called out even though he knew it wasn't a big deal. "Oh, hey, good morning..." he said, drawing out the 'oh, hey' a bit. It was weird to greet others in the morning, no matter how many years he lived with others. "It's just me, ol' Patty boi" he mumbled. It took him a moment to decide if he should continue on his way or actually make an appearance. Making an appearance would be in his best interest and if he remembered anything form higher education, it was to at least show up. He took a few steps closer to Alistair before he spoke again, this time as a supplement to announcing his presence mere moments earlier, "It's gonna be a cold one today."

Cora leaned back against the tree trunk, allowing her leg to lightly swing back and forth as it hung down. Her morning meal had been a gym rat that was far too easy to convince to follow her into the forest for a “morning jog.” Now she sat content among the branches of a particularly tall tree, her hunger satisfied. However, she was not entirely careless in her relaxation. Every now and then the wind would carry the scent of the supernatural mutts her way, making her cringe and serving as a reminder that she could no longer enjoy a careless, easy feasting upon the town. Cora huffed at the thought of those mongrels, allowing her head to fall back and her eyes to close for a moment.
