Aspen huffed as some irritating noise distracted her from doing absolutely nothing. It sounded as if someone was dragging a stick across the rungs of the fence. What a childish thing to do. The witched leaned her head back, her cheek resting lightly against the column of the fence as the peered down the length of it, trying to find whoever was making this ruckus. No luck, with the various tree branches and shrubbery blocking her path. Luckily, it stopped soon after, but Aspen's foul mood wasn't so quick to dissipate. She allowed her eyes to travel back towards the manor, catching sight of Harley, the woman looking back at her. Her own features appeared rather irked. "You just gonna stand there and stare, or actually say something?" she called out, not bothering to move from her lounging spot. Aspen had never gotten along with her since her arrival, likely due to their similar personality traits. They were both far too sarcastic and dominate to have a friendly conversation. At least, so far.

Kolten had awoke several times that morning, only to throw himself back under the sheets and doze off for several more hours. By the time he had actually pulled himself out of bed, it was past noon. While he had stayed up late, he had still overslept, causing him to feel perhaps more tired than when he had gone to bed. Nonetheless, he knew he couldn't allow himself to fall back asleep, both for the fear of sleeping the day away and the protesting of his empty stomach. The werewolf threw on a wrinkled shirt and jeans, not bothering to otherwise get ready before he left his room. Out in the hallway, the young man paused, blinking several times in the harsh light. Emitting a toothy yawn, Kolt ran his fingers through his tangled hair. Straightening himself, he then headed down the hall and towards the kitchen, not wasting any time before grabbing something to eat.

It didn't take very long for his bare feet to carry him into the noisy kitchen. Kolten paused at the sight before him, the various tasks seeming to do themselves, but he just as quickly dismissed it. It's not like it was anything too unusual for Murkwood, even during the short week that he had been there. His eyes landed on the the rather colorless cook. He'd seen the man around several times on his food runs, but had never had any sort of lengthy conversation with him. The wolf boy studied the odd choice of apron as he plopped himself down in one of the chairs pulled up to the counter, his arms leaning heavily across the surface. "Whatever you happen to be making with your million hands, care to indulge me with?" His voice was somewhat groggy, an indication that he'd just woken up.

harley gave a chuckle.
“nah. just wondering if you actually brewed stuff with rat’s eyes and stuff like that, mate.” she said, flashing a rather charming smile. aspen was a pretty woman with fiery red hair, in contrast of her short, coal black hair.
harley cracked her usually bruised knuckles and inspected the witch.

Adrian Bauer male werewolf guest @: wandering tags: open

Adrian hadn't been a guest long so his mental map of the sprawling manor was lacking. In other words he was lost. He wasn't sure he could make it back to his room if he decided to turn around and he had half a mind to write a bad review on this supernatural bed and breakfast. It would be backed by nothing but his own incompetence but it would be heartfelt and would read like a clip of people failing in an infomercial. He continued his walk down the hall and opened a few doors which were either closets or bathrooms. One door led to an unoccupied room which he promptly closed. Uninteresting. He continued on his way, coming up with ways to explain his behavior if interrogated on the issue. Of course the truth was more along the lines of knowing all exit points which could be translated to "I just want to know my way around" to be more polite.

he made his way to the first level and poked his head into a large living area with couches and windows. Pretty stuff. It all reminded him of a Southern Living magazine. He turned away from the room and went on the search for other rooms. He slowly filled in his mental map of the manor but these things took time to learn. Every so often he heard the rustle of another inhabitant but he didn't pay the sounds any mind. He figured they were existing and going about their days much like him. Other have just as complex of a life as you do; water is wet.

    devin lars
    tags;;

lars had arrived late in the night, but he managed to make it to his room without the creak of a floorboard. he has never struggled finding his place among the silence and shadows, for obvious reasons. seeing that he hadn't actually slept any of the time that he laid in bed since his arrival and didn't plan on closing his eyes anytime soon, he decided to get up and explore. he had never been to the famed murkwood manor and just decided on a whim that he was going on a vacation the day before. as he stood from the bed, you notice that he was dressed the whole time, it's even questionable whether he changed at all since last night. lars strided out of his room and into the manor. he wasn't exactly sure where he was headed or what his goal was but he just felt the need to be out. after an incredibly brief exploration of the place he found the 'common room' so to speak, and immediately made note to avoid it if possible. for some reason however; he subconsciously stayed close to the living room area.

Her simple "nah" hardly answered the question Aspen had asked. It was an either or, not a yes or no.
The witch rolled her eyes, standing up and dusting off the pieces of grass that had clung to her clothing. She took one last glance down the long the fence, then turned her attention back to the other woman. "Of course I do." she stated, her tone rather dismissive. Unlike the way that many human television shows portrayed her kind, there was no brewing or brooms (well, actually, she'd once met a witch that crafted potions). Aspen's magic was more mental, conjured with the simple wish for it to happen, though she had hardly learned many spells. "So if I ever need miscellaneous body parts from a pest, I'll be sure to give you a visit." Clearly satisfied with her blatant insult, the corners of her lips rose in a smirk.

harley gave a hearty laugh at aspen’s comical response. “simmer down, mate. what bothers you? hope it’s not me.” she said arrogantly. she flashed once again her pearly white smile which reflected sheer amusement.
“never met a witch before, eh?” she said, her thick northern british accent highly notable.
she felt a sharp stab of pain on her knuckles and flinched slightly.
“bloody ouch.” harley muttered, instantly looking at her bloody hand.

Gender: Male
Power: Empathy
Location: Outside the manor

Colum, or “Birdface” as he was known, was once again making his paces around the area. He would do this again once evening rolled around. Recently he hadn’t had much to do and, to put it simply, he was growing bored. He was sure he had something else he needed to be doing, but nothing surfaced from the depths of his mind. He’d almost finished his rounds, anyway. He silently sighed as he continued walking.

jupiter - vampire - guest - tags: open

sharp scents of the forest were dulled over by the chilling winds that occasionally blew by. for whatever reason the slightly cooler fall winds tended to ice over his nose. the male sighed, rolling his shoulder to adjust the bag he had swung over it. it had been a while since he last saw her. there wasn't much traffic in the supernatural world going on about the manor. at least that meant nothing crazy had happened since his last stay. five months exactly. a slight furrow set in his brow as he walked along the path towards the manor. he was happy for his sister, don't get him wrong. he knew how she felt in that gilded cage back at the estate. yes, their father loved them, but in their world half-bloods were looked down upon. he barely skimmed by because he retained his father's physical traits. his sister did not seem to have luck in that department. she had taken strongly after their mother from the black hair to gold eyes even though both the siblings shared the same half-breed status. vampire nobility had no need for a wolf girl who couldn't even at least carry the family name or vampire traits. he was glad when she found her calling in owning the manor. still it did not keep him from worrying about his little sister. the vampire was left to his thoughts along the forest path until murkwood manor slowly came into view. green eyes settled on the doors as he let his bag drop to his side, making an uncharacteristic quip. "maybe i should've called first."

odesza - ōkami - owner - tags: adrian

mornings were nothing special to the ravenette. they had been relatively the same and a routine since she had become an owner with xenos. checking on the guests, their more permanent residents, the state of the manor and the employees. so far recently,
there were no issues with management so far. besides, xenos seemed to take it upon himself more times than not to deal with employee affairs. speaking of her co partner, she had yet to see him that morning and it was already the afternoon. later she would have to look for him. she had poked her head in the kitchen to see terrence was fine and in his craft. outside, she had spotted "birdface" stalking about the gardens and had thought it best leave him alone to his work. mars she had yet to see which was odd, but he would show soon enough.

black ears flicked forward at the sound of nearby foot steps as she headed up the stairs from one of the main rooms. not that that wasn't normal, they were a manor after all and had many a kind in and out on a daily. the owner of the footsteps was who struck her as odd. her golden gaze studied him for a moment, recalling spotting him from time to time. as she went about her rounds and took inventory of what guests had arrived and were going to arrive, she had spotted the werewolf going about the hallways and rooms with a seemingly almost aimless direction. a thought crossed her mind as she humored the idea though it was most likely scenario. the guest was lost or perhaps adjusting to the layout. she could understand the manor and its grounds could become a maze for some. "hello," the little lady addressed him with a sweet smile, "may i assist you in anything, m'lord?" her speech was a formal habit, one of too many teachings that had been drilled into her since childhood. it offput some from her experiences. a majority of guests who had stayed at the manor before tended to write off the owner as just too formal.

Adrian slowly turned toward the source of the voice. Had he been in his wolf form, his hair would have been on end. his eyes cast downward to the short woman and a polite yet small smile crept on the werewolf's face. "I'm fine, thanks. Just getting to know the place..." he replied as he took a glance around her. if he wasn't mistaken, she was one of the owners he was told about... or spoke to when he rented his room here. That night was a blur but he remembered waking up the next morning is a massive hangover. It was safe to say that he didn't remember most first nights at new places. There was no better way to learn about a place than at the bar. He shoved his hands in his pockets and returned his gaze to her. "Am I in your way or somewhere I'm not allowed?" he asked, just to make sure. He didn't want to get kicked out, after all.

    Hickory
    Harpy
    Location- Forest
    Tags- open

It had been many nights since their arrival. It had been twilight - nearly dawn - when the two harpies found their way to the Murkwood Manor. Or at least, most of the way there. They had been flying aimlessly, without a sense of direction and only driven onward by fear. The moment the feeling of safety entered their gizzards, they dove down and took cover within the thick, dark woods that seemed to stretch on and eventually fade around a massive structure. Lights inside and sounds of life about it told the two that many things - mythical creatures mainly - were present, and currently active. But the two felt safe where they were. For there was no harpy scent but their own.

The first night they spent in the woods, the two worked diligently to create some form of shelter; a nest for each, so that they could finally rest their sore wings and catch their breath. Then the next couple days, while one remained at the shelter site, the other patrolled the woods to gain a sense of what sort of world they had entered, and whether or not it would be of any use to them. They never strayed from the woods, eventually finding all they would need was provided solely by the forest. Water, for drinking and bathing. Plenty of food to hunt or gather. And the shade the trees created offered them cover, to keep themselves hidden from what may be lurking about.

Hickory, the more active of the two, was now on his fourth patrol since their arrival. Wings extended from either side of his body, the harpy lazily glided from one tree to another, pausing briefly every couple branches to situate himself, or survey the surroundings for prey. The creatures that lived around here were different. For one, they were not harpies. They were each their own thing. Things that Hickory did not know, nor care to learn about. If he and his sister were to have any chance of survival, they were to keep as far away from them as possible. There was no need to create more enemies.

He was about to take off towards his next perch when rustling beneath him caught his attention. He held his breath and moved towards the bough of the tree, watching the ground silently and steadily as he waited for whoever it was to pass by.

    Holly
    Harpy
    Location- Forest

Holly wasn't her brother. She had grown up far away from him for many years, learning about nothing other than to fear him and his kind. She would have never guessed she would be related to the monsters she was told to fear, let alone live solely with him. Even if they were siblings, she felt they were total strangers. And she only hoped that she would come to learn more about him in time. They had no choice but to stick together now, in a world where they were not meant to exist.

She settled lowly in her nest, her talons buried beneath her many dark feathers. Her gaze, a warm brown, was cast out towards the forest. Birdsong and light rustling of branches told her the forest was full of life. Sounds that at one point she had welcomed and considered home. But here, she felt very lonely and frightened. Unlike her brother, who had made the most of his surroundings and explored them frequently, Holly was confined to the nesting site.

Their escape hadn't gone without its consequences. She was injured. Not so much physically, give or take a few scratches from crashing through the canopy upon their arrival. But mentally she was practically destroyed. All she had ever known was taken from her in an instant. She didn't know how to survive in this strange land. Many sounds, while familiar to her, were foreign. Her heart ached to return to the lifestyle she had. But she cringed, reflecting on why she couldn't. That lifestyle was over. And if she were to survive, she would need to adapt. ...According to what Hickory told her.

Holly swallowed the lump in her throat as she sat up, shifting her weight in the nest she had built. From here, most of the forest clouded her sight. But if she just tilted her head this way and that... she could just make out the Murkwood Manor's silhouette against the sky. What went on there? Those creatures hadn't a clue what was going on at the same time in their world. ...What was that like?
    She could only wonder.
