The young teen immediately straightened the furniture behind him, his heart racing but trying hard to not let it show in his breath. That was one of the survival techniques he was taught to use against predators... Except it seemed now that he was the only threat to himself at the moment. The blue-haired boy drew his fingers through his hair to avoid eye contact with the other student who's attention would have surely been drawn to the noise. "I'm very sorry..." He murmured quietly, stiffening again when he took away his hand and saw how close the girl had moved to help him. "I'm-I'm fine, thank you." Jay's voice was surprisingly robotic for his flushed face. He had heard once from a book that first appearances mattered, and this introduction only made him seem foolish. The boy dipped his head to the other hybrid respectfully. "I'm terribly sorry to have interrupted your... Meal?" He guessed, his eyes scanning over the cafeteria in order to once again avoid eye contact. It truly was a meal place, he discovered. It was not like the system he had been fed with, where you were given an amount of food and then completed various tasks in order to receive treats. Jay shook his head abruptly before looking back up to Mina. Her smile was meant to be reassuring, Jay knew, but perhaps it was one of pity. "Ex six-" he began to say automatically, though he stumbled over the ending and coughed to correct himself. "I am Jay Reeves, and once again I am sorry for my actions. It was truly my own fault. If I may know, are you called something as well?" The half-bird's face grew hot at his own introduction. It had not been what he expected, but perhaps he could get some help? The girl seemed friendly enough...
