Toni
Her breathing was ragged by the time she reached the upstairs bathroom. She shut the door and jerkily turned on the cold water before splashing it over her face. Knuckles white, she braced herself against the sink and looked up at her own haggard reflection. Her eyes were red, nicely framed by the dark circles underneath them, and her face was far too thin, with wrinkles already starting to form from the nearly permanent scowl she wore. A groan escaped her as she allowed herself to collapse onto the cold tile floor and just breath. Her chest ached, but not from any wounds she had sustained the night before.
Toni ran her fingers through her hair, trying to calm down and overcome the guilt she felt leaving Jax alone downstairs to worry about her. It was stupid to get worked up like this, and she knew better than to dwell on memories that only ever cause her pain. With a determined sigh she stood back up and cleaned up her face, trying to reach some point of decency. She let her honey colored hair down and she laboriously brushed it out, only to still be dissatisfied with her own appearance. She was embarrassed to even think about that in a situation like this she wished she had make up or even clothes that made her look less ready for combat and more prepared to spend time with friends or even go on a date. It made her angry, that much of her childhood and being a normal teenager had been ripped away from her, that she never got the chance to do something as selfish and time consuming as just making herself look pretty. There was nothing to be done about in now though, and instead she needed to go reassure her friend that she was fine.
"Sorry, Jax. I was being stupid. I'm all good now." She said with a half-hearted smile before sitting down on the couch beside him. She let her head fall lightly on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
"How are you holding up?" Toni asked.
Damian
His brow knit together at hearing that Agness was hurt and he turned his head to actually look at Rachyl.
"What was she doing out there? How did she get hurt? Was it serious? Did you take her to the hospital?" He asked in rapid fire, seeming to forget the situation at hand and realize that of course Rachyl wouldn't have personally taken her to the hospital while she had a high profile enemy in her custody. It was a strange expression of him, the vulnerability and fear, it almost made him unrecognizable. Normally always calm and detached, something about the idea of something bad happening to Agness seemed to deeply disturb him.
The elevator dinged, signaling that they had reached their destination. Damian looked annoyed before they were curtly greeted by a stern looking woman who gave Neo a once over before leading them all to where he would be held. He followed, but let himself fall behind before grabbing hold of Rachel's arm and having her stop with him.
"Do you think the contact Nicholas and Agness have had with the elementals has made them targets, Rachyl? Do you think it's safe for them to be here any longer?" He asked in a hushed voice, looking at her somewhat desperately. For all his ability to manage and strategize, Damian knew he did a rather awful job of being a father, and now he couldn't help but wonder if it was foolish to have his children live here with him. Perhaps it would be safer to send them to some unaffected city far away. Maybe he should have done that all along, and forcing them to be here was just a selfish way of deluding himself into feeling like he wasn't alone.
Nick
The shadowy figure at his feet startled him, but he was relieved to find that I was only the shadow cat come to join him. The relief was short lived however when he realized what the creature was so persistently trying to get him to pay attention to. Feeling as if it weighed 80 lbs in his hand, Nick slowly removed the lit up cellphone from his pocket and stared at the message notification grimly. He had a choice now, and it was one he certainly didn't want to make. He could risk everything and help Neo get back to his brother, or he could just do nothing and hopefully forget about everything that had happened in these last two days. He wondered if he could stomach the guilt of leaving Neo to what would probably at the very least be life in a prison. And the other elementals, while they might not have liked him, they had shown both Nick and his sister mercy. Could he really stand by and let their struggle come to an end so easily? It almost seemed unfair that Rachyl and his own father had been able to target Mirik's weak spot so easily, and Nick had unknowingly played his own part in it. Perhaps the war could run it's course, but Nick wasn't ready to let it end like this because of himself. He opened up the phone to read what Neo had been sent, and try and decide what his course of action would be to free Neo.
