Welcome to Draeda, Land of the Eclipse. You are now a traveler in an ever dangerous and wild land.

In the current year, Year 54 1E (First Era), fear has struck the heart of the people of Draeda. The portals that separate the realm from other realms are designated to be only opened by powerful conjurers, but nothing is supposed to be able to come in from the other side.

Something, or someone, has caused a hole in the barriers between the worlds, a rift, arcane in nature. High up north, there have been numerous sightings of mysterious creatures. Many suspect the kobolds and orcs from the island many miles off the coast of Kao'a are involved, as a dark mist surrounds the arctic.

Most likely a rumor, as it's told in legends that a huge storm surrounds deep north. Another, more controversial one has it that there are demons there.

The Archmages of Trivia and Vrivia have been sent to investigate.

The World of Draeda
I don't have a reference yet, so I'll just describe.

In the northeast, the Dwarves rule their kingdoms, Wilirien, Aoaswen, and Kedareclya. Aoaswen is the farthest northeast that someone can go aside from the Tundra. The kingdoms are covered in mountains that are full of precious metals and gemstones. However, they do not travel too deep underground.

Further east is a vast ocean that no one successfully traveled across.

In the central northern reaches of the land is a forest, called Ibuex that is home to a few human towns and villages, but is mostly ruled by Wood Elves. The Wood Elves protect the forest.

In the southwest, the humans have their four kingdoms, Neua, Orda, Kao'a, and Xi'a. Many beastfolk live here too.

In the northwest there are the high elf kingdoms of Trivia and Vrivia, settled on large oasis's in a desert known as the Enchanted Desert, because a lot of magic appears to come from the desert.

An island known as Aigroth exists. It is an island 60 miles off the coast of Kao'a. Once a prosperous land, now a desolate wasteland. The trees are all dead, and only some orcs and kobolds remain here.

I'll post more locations later.

>Major Deities<
Eirose, the god of war, primal nature, rebellion, and fall.
Ao, the god of light, free spirit, music, and summer.
Veyra, the goddess of moral law, honor, love, and spring.
Erebos, the goddess of darkness, mystery, magic, and winter. Though she is not evil her ways are dark and mysterious.

There are eight categories of magic, AKA the arcane arts. All are based off of the magic from The Elder Scrolls series. Powers that come with a species do not technically count as magic.

Illusion
Illusion involves manipulating the mind and senses of the enemy. It also makes it easier to cast spells such as invoking fear, charming, and turning invisible.

Alteration
Alteration can be used to change the fundamentals of physics and biology. It can harder the caster's skin, cause a lock to become unlocked without a key, or burden a foe with invisible weight. This type of magic is best outside of combat. Many thieves and assassins make use of this type to benefit their careers.

Destruction
It is the mastery of the spell effects that "harm living and unliving things, and include elemental damage, draining, damaging, vulnerability, and disintegration magical effects".

Conjuration
Summoning creatures and creating weapons with magic are two of the most beneficial tools a magic user can utilize. Conjuration connects the caster's mind with that of the summoned thing. Necromancy, a sub-specialization of Conjuration, focuses exclusively on reanimating the corpses of the dead sentient species and animals. This is seen as taboo by many magic users.

Restoration
Restoration is dedicated to healing injuries, curing illnesses, poisons, and diseases, the fortification of attributes, shielding and preventing damage, and also includes some spells that manipulate the undead in various ways, most commonly causing them to flee.

Mysticism
Mysticism can unravel the mysteries of the universe if applied properly. It can also tell one what is around the corner, lying in wait for a hapless hunter to wander by. Not much is known about this type of magic other than that.

Enchanting
Involves adding a magical enchantment to an inanimate object, causing them to have special effects. An enchantment is a spell sealed, trapped into an object to confer mystical attributes, which are supported by Souls. To create an enchanted item, one must have an unenchanted item, a soul gem of the desired size, and a specific enchantment that is known and can be placed on the item. Any type of unenchanted item can be enchanted, whether it be weapons, armor, clothing and/or jewelry, among others.

Alchemy
Alchemy does not actually use the essence of magic, but magic users and non-magic users associate alchemy with the arcane arts. Alchemy is the study and use of many materials with powers that may influence the flow of magic in the world. Alchemy involves a system known as an alchemy lab, and takes multiple ingredients and mixing them together to create potions. Potions are consumable items, and there two subdivisions:
Potions help by restoring and/or fortifying an ability or the effect of an ability.
Poisons, on the other hand, are applied to tools and affect the targeted persons.

>Rules<
-Site rules, as per usual
-No godmodding
-No absolutely perfect characters (aka mary/gary sues)
-You may be any fantasy species, except for gods, demigods, and maybe angels and demons. Try to be accurate to the mythology of a species.
-Romance is fine, but do a time skip when nessesary
-Keep in mind that sentient life on Draeda has only existed for 5054 years, so ageless sentient creatures like dragons or elves can be around 5000 years old maximum.
-This is not a literate roleplay, so we do to not need long posts. Just read the other posts and respond accordingly. If a long post is a must, do it, but refrain from constant long posts. However, try to refrain from one-liners, as many people here seem to not like them.
