The day was quiet and calm, for few things stirred in the forest. The warm summer breeze blew softly above the tree tops, with leaves dancing in the air along with it. Clouds were painted across the deep blue sky that hug around the earth. Golden rays of the sun spilled through the thick canopy above, making the ground glow in its presence. Few creatures moved through the forest, as this place, once again was safe and free. Fear and evil were tucked away and blocked from entering the haven. Hidden among the leaves and plants was a single, unmoving figure, carefully shielded and protected by the strong roots of the trees. The creature was lost in the world of dreams, running carefree with no thought of danger. The steady rise and fall of its stomach revealed that it was very alive, yet its stillness made other believe that it was just another illusion of the forest, nothing more. Time passed on like the butterflies fluttering in the sky before consciousness and thought poured back into the being body. A heavy sigh was released into the sky before the being pushed itself up, leaves falling down from its hair and back. Its eyes opened slowly to reveal a deep gold that slowly shifted to a more amber color. This being peculiar thing; as it took the shape of a human, but its true form nothing like one. In fact, this being was truly a being of the forest, yet to protect its true identity it had to shift into the skin of its enemy.
A yawn escaped his jaws as he stretched his arms out. Fingers ran through his scruffy, dark hair before he squinted his eyes to adjust. He examined the world around him. Serene and empty, nothing could be heard. He gazed up to the sky, as the blue sky of the day grew darker and darker, with the golden sun growing smaller and smaller as it dipped below the horizon. The clouds blazed with reds and yellows, while softer blues and purples were painted behind the vibrant warm colors. A cool breeze came through the trees, causing him to shiver a little, indicating the night was descending upon them. the being sighed softly, groggy eyes looking back down before he slowly pushed himself up. Strong muscles that were covered across his tall and strong structure were seen as he rose. His head suddenly became light for a few seconds before his body adjusted to his actions and surroundings. He blinked, with eyes full of awareness and alert as he stalked through the forest, almost invisible like a ghost, before disappearing into the trees, nothing was left except for his presence.
Time passed as he wandered about. Many brilliant aromas flooded his nose as he took in each scent of the forest. Safety surrounded him; this was his home, and nothing around could harm him. Yet the forest started to turn black, the world around him was bright, as his eyes were adapted to the darkness. While in the cloud of silence, he heard a soft growl, causing his eyes to glow and for a soft growl from his throat to echo in the forest. It took him a moment to realize it was his stomach, alerting the creature it would soon be time to hunt and feed. He sighed softly and continued on his way. Once again, silence came back, following in his footsteps. The lack of sound comforted him until he heard something in the distance that made him freeze. He didn't move, breathing in little wisps of air so he could focus on the noise. His heart beat faster, softly pounding against his chest. The creature could taste it; the evil, the danger. Something unnatural had breached the forest walls. A soft echo of laugher entered his ears, the rhythm of uneven movement vibrated against him. He growl once more before stepping forward, hiding amongst the trees. The closer he got to the source, the faster his heart beat, each step a single thump. Soon, he could see an orange glow in the distance, and the smell of smoke. Fire. He knew what this disturbance was, as any being of the forest knew of the creature that could control this unnatural force. There were humans in the forest. The being growled to himself before hiding behind the trees, staring forward. With his acute sense, he could see the human camp without them noticing him. Yet he interacted with them, and even looked like a human, he did not consider himself one of them, nor did he think that they were allies in any way. For now, he listened in as best he could from a distance, just to make sure they weren't going to cause much harm, so he could run free and stay away from them, as he did not desire any human interaction. The creature just wanted to be in peace.
