Ivanna had been wandering the halls, hands stuffed casually in the pockets of her jeans, for what felt like a literal eternity. She wasn't even entirely sure where she was anymore. She'd been stuffed up in her dorm all day and, come 3 hours ago, she couldnt stand it anymore. And the rest was history.
After probably the 100th hallway that looked just like every one before it, she'd come to a large set of doors, light leaking in from the crack at the bottom. She felt a gust of wind hit her ankles and it was obvious that the doors lead to outside. She was fairly certain the classrooms at this end of the school hadn't been used in years, which meant that this exit probably hadn't been used in just as long.
Her suspicions were confirmed when the door stuck at first, refusing to budge even as she pushed with all her might, her shoulder pressed up against it. She grunted with effort, struggling, before giving up with a sigh.
It was then when she saw the convenient sign to the left that said "pull".
"Oh," she said dumbly, and then pulled open the door. She was immediately hit with the blinding light of outside(AN: unless its day, in which case, ignore this part). She hadn't noticed just how dim that part of the school had been.
With one last look stolen behind her, she ducked outside into an unfamiliar part of the school's famous garden. This area was overgrown, rose bushes untrimmed and topiary bushes grown to unrecognizable shapes. Vines snaked through the high grass that tickled her shins, basically guaranteeing a trip.
She'd known that the gardens were big, but she was almost positive she'd explored most of it... Obviously not.
She stepped forward, deeper into the overgrowth, ducking under low hanging liana. It was amazing- beautiful- in it's own way. She was so engrossed in the new surroundings that she nearly stepped right into a pond and earned herself a shoe-full of green algae.
She stumbled back, hooked her foot on a vine, and fell on her butt. She put her hands behind her to try to buffer the fall, but only managed to shove her arm into a rose bush. She cried out, the thorns pricking all the way up her forearm, and instinctively yanked it back to her chest, effectively ripping a gouge in her arm.
She watched as a line of scarlet blood welled up against pale skin- a stark contrast- and felt the tears well up in her eyes. It stung badly, not to mention the other tiny scratches that trickled red. She cursed under her breath, wrapping her arm up in the hem of her shirt in vain, and maneuvered her way back to her feet.
Despite her affinity for healing, the power wasn't as effective when used on herself. That, and, for the moment, it seemed that she completely forgot that she had the ability.
She turned around, trying to find her path back to the school, but had managed to get completely lost in a matter of minutes. After some hesitation, she picked a direction and hurried forward.

Just when she was getting hopeless, resolved to lie down and bleed out there on the green floor, she heard crunching of footsteps. Whirling around, she scanned the area hastily.
Logically, she knew she should question it. The place seemed to be untouched- no student(or teacher, for that matter) of the school had been here in years, decades.... So who could possibly be there? The list was small, and of the options, the number of people who would help was even smaller.
Around the academy, especially among the younger crowds, tales of the things that dwelled in the garden had always been swapped and passed around. She'd dismissed them as just stories, as a game among students, and in her 4 years of attending, never had she encountered any sort of danger in these parts. Now? She wasn't so sure.
"Hello?" she tried weakly, figuring she didn't have much of a choice. She had already accepted her fate to die, so what was the worse that could happen? Perhaps they'd make her death swift. It was a comforting thought.
