Kat nodded. " Thank you for patching up my wounds. " She said. Just then she heard the door open and heard footsteps. Her brother was back again.

Gabriel turned to hear footsteps coming up the stairway. Sighing, he sat back against the chair. "Tom." He called, looking to the boy in the entryway. "You and your sister talk, I know you have somethings you may have to say." Getting up, he leaned over and gave her a quick peck on the forehead before walking over the room and down the stairs.

Kat looked over at him a brother as she smiled. She sightly titled her head as she could see something was wrong. But what?

Tom watched Gabe leave and then he looked at his sister. He really didn't want to tell her the news, but he had too. " I chose Cora over you. " He said, looking away. He was about to tell her he was sorry, but didn't when he was yelled at by her.

Kat looked at him, tears running down her face. " Stay away from me. " She said, looking away. She noticed him take a step towards her. " I said stay away! " She said, yelling at him. She didn't want to deal with him right now.

" I'm sorry. " Tom said, as he put a hand on her shoulder. He yelped when he was shoved away.

" I said stay away! " Kat yelled as she had tears running down her face.

Gabriel came rushing back up, hearing Kat yell at her brother. "Kat, calm down." He said, holding his hands up. "Yes he may have made a mistake, but if the hunters started with you they're going to go through all of us, until we hate each other and separate. That's when they'll pick us off, one-by-one." He sat down on the edge of the bed. He then looked around for the vampire. "She's not here." He added.

Cora wiped her hand across her lips, tossing the dead buck away into a grassy area for another predator to feed on. She felt empty, like nothing was easy anymore. No emotion, no feeling, nothing. Hearing a twig snap, she looked up and lightly smiled. "About time." She whispered, feeling a dagger at her back laced with silver and vervain.

Kat looked over at Gave when she heard him. She looked away before she nodded sightly. She was still upset with her brother now. She didn't even want to look at him.

Tom looked at his sister. He didn't mean for any of this to happen. He looked at his sister again before he mumbled " Sorry. " He felt so bad right now. He looked over at Gabe as his eyes widden. No.. That ment they were going to go after her. Without another word, the hunter took off out of the house. He had to find Cora before it was too late. He slowed down to a halt as he noticed someone behind her. " Get away. " He said, as he took a bow out.

Cora rolled her eyes and shook her head. "What are you doing here?" She asked lightly. "Go away." A thin trickle of blood rolled down her chin. Now she knew why the buck's blood tasted so weird. The river was laced with vervain, an herb that only kills vampires from the inside out, weakening them. The herb doesn't work on werewolves as Silver does.

Gabe sighed, wrapping his arms gently around her. "Its ok." He whispered against her hair.

Tom looked at her. " I was worried about you. " He said.

Kat nodded before she leaned against him. " I just hope he doesn't think I hate him. " She said.

"You were worried?" She asked. "About me?" She slowly should her head. "No you weren't, you were more worried about you're sister. You wouldn't worry about a monster or an enemy." She then turned her head to the side, looking at the group of hunters slowly advancing towards them. Soon more trickles of blood flowed down her chin. "Sneaky." She added, "well played." Was the last thing she said before she pitched forward, blacking out from the beginning of the weakening stages.

"From the way he looked, he probably thinks you do hate him." He said, rubbing her arm gently. "Even though he chose her, for some reason...he cares about you both."

" I care about both of you. My sister is important to me just as you are. " Tom said. His eyes looked over at the hunters who were coming to them. His eyes widden when he saw her callsope in the ground. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at the hunters. " Stay away! " He said, loading a bow. He would have to deal with them first before he took Cora to saftey.

Kat nodded. " I know. I just feel bad for lashing out like that at him. " She said.

A couple of hunters whispered harshly to one another, apparently some of the others didn't know they had vampires among them. Looking back to the boy who held the bow and arrow, they quickly fled, leaving the one by himself. "You know better than to befriend an enemy boy." The older man snapped. "Next time she won't be alive for along." And with that, he turned and followed the others.

Gabe nodded. "I know." He said.
