Raven shook her head. "I won't need it."
She began to make her way out of the cave and into the woods. Once she had found an area that looked promising, she muttered her least favorite spell to herself. She hated trying to tell animals what to do. It wasn't anything like the princess movies; in reality, the animals were difficult to understand and often unwilling to help. She sat in the grass and waited, for only a little less than a minute, before she heard the footsteps of a creature. She glanced up, expecting a badger, maybe, or a coyote. Instead, about ten yards away from her, stood a large bear. She jumped and cursed loudly, scrambling to stand up. Her eyes were wide. She wasn't sure what to do.
"Ohhhh...kay," she said, hardly breathing. "A favor, if you will? I just need some food for my friends and I. If you could-"
The bear made a grunting noise and turned away, not allowing her to finish. Raven couldn't tell if it was going to find something for her or not. She took her place in the grass once more, and waited. Five minutes passed, then ten, until finally Raven saw the bear from the corner of her eye. Clamped tightly in its jaws was a light colored rabbit. She was relieved, to say the least.
"Thank you very much," she said to it, hoping it understood.
It dropped the rabbit a few feet away from her and she picked it up by its ears. She started back to the cave, pacing quickly until it was in sight.
"I have dinner," she said in a sing-song voice as she reached the entrance.
