Jay frowned. " Amber not you too... " He grabbed her arm, " No... I can't risk losing two important family members in one day... " He whined.
( This needed to be split for Raven, I'm not leaving you behind Cue, it would have just been too long. )
Raven narrowed his eyes on the General, pressing his palms into the sword with a slight growl. " And if you would just give me the chance to speak... You might be surprised. " He muttered and stood straight, taking a few breaths as the General eyed the winged boy, a smirk appearing, " Fine... I'll listen to what you have to say... " He kept his hand on the pistol. Raven took a deep breath and began. " You humans think you are superior... And I once thought we were the superior ones. Born with mutations and growths that seperate is from you. The thing is we are both wrong... Everyone has thought about this all wrong. Us and you. " Raven glanced at the sand, " Everything has an equal value. Every living thing. When I went to butcher our deer, I could see its fear in its eyes... You can see yourself in their place. Everything that we stand on, everything that you've all fought for, it's been against your own people. Look around you sir. Count how many people have different hair color, eye color, skin color... Don't you see? We are the same as you. " Raven explained, " If you count my fingers... I have five like you. I have eyes and a nose and a mouth and hair and I'll eventually grow a mustache like yours. Not really. " He thought and he heard the general himself crack a laugh, not a mean one, a thoughtful one, his eyes had glistened and opened up to respect Raven a bit more. " The only thing different about us is our powers... And I know you humans fear us for that. Like a dark sorcerer with magic, it's different and it's frightening and when someone is frightened they do things they shouldn't have. " Raven frowned, " I'll admit I was very scared in my childhood, and because I was treated the way I was, I was scared of being hurt, so I hurt everyone else. Like you humans. You are scared we would kill you all first, so you've started killing us first... And I understand that. " He looked around at the crowd and they stared back, listening intently. Raven shifted himself, his hands growing weak from gripping the sword. " B-But I have to tell you... It's not required anymore... " He looked at the General who stared concerned back at him. " You don't have to kill us to be rich... We are innocent. We have children... We have family, wives, husbands, friends... Pets... We live just like you sir... We work and eat and communicate... General. " He looked at him with weakness in his eyes, his hands slipping from the sword. " We are all united under equality. We are all family if we come to accept eachother. " Raven looked up, " It's taken me two years to finally see it. I can't thank my sister, my wife, my wonderful sister in law, my father, my friend and her boys, my stupid neighbor and his wife and unborn child enough... They've given me so much... " His voice was faint, his arms wrapping around himself, " We are all monsters. All of us. And one monster to another... Will you accept my k-kindest... Apology... " He slipped off his sword and landed in the sand, his hands pressed into his chest and side. The general was crying with realization and he pressed himself against the shield, having no words. He shook his head, " Stand up straight boy! " He called, trying to get him up, this extraordinary winged boy, dying of human bullets and a twisted past come to light. Ravens wings draped over him and crumpled against his back and the sandy floor, blood soaking the earth below him. The general and the other men stared with tears in their eyes as the winged boy, now a man in their eyes died on the sandy beach of the island.
