Pheonix & Caspian

Caspian smiled a little. "Thanks. I just hope the effect won't bother us all too much." he said. He wasn't afraid of Skylar, not anymore at least. His only fear of her that he had was that she might hate him and blame him for his earlier issue, but now know she forgave him he no longer had that fear. He knew a little about her veins but didn't mind them at all, in fact, from what he had seen, he thought they were interesting and kind of cool. But this wasn't the topic of their conversation and he didn't know what she was thinking so he didn't say anything about that.

"Well, I think your asking was kinda cute. But as far as my survival: I stuck with my brother and we've helped each other out along the way." Pheonix answered, although usually her brother had to do more than just help her.

She nodded "Oh.." She sighed, Phoenix's life was way better than hers.. A brother who helped her instead of making her feel worse. "You live better than I do..." She mumbled and shrugged unknowingly.

Pheonix

A curious expression made its way onto Pheonix's face again. "Really? Have things not been going well for you then?" she asked, feeding into her simple and childish curiosity.

She nodded "Things are pretty ugly for me.. I'm just trying to get away from my brother... I don't want more beatings or bruises..." She sighed and shrugged again. Maybe she had said a little bit too much..

[soothesoftly]

Even though she spoke quietly, Jake could still hear all of what the girl had said. He tried to keep a level voice as he said, "you say that as if you weren't human... Everyone here was once human, so saying that mutants are better than humans is..." He was beginning to become frustrated, so he took a deep breath before continueing. "It's incorrect. You can't blame an entire species for a mistake made by a few. Not all humans are bad, and saying that just..." He backed up a step, his gaze locked on the ground.

Unfortunately for Jake, his words had set off the fire within Faina. Her eyes snapped up at him with fury in them. She placed one hand on Caspian's shoulder to keep herself from snapping the human's neck. "My mind doesn't work like yours does!" she shouted at him. "I can't have that sort of thinking! All humans have ever done is hurt me, and if I try to think the way you'll do, I'll probably end up hurting myself, or worse, someone around me! I am not human," her voice dropped dangerously low. "For no human has a black eye."

[soothesoftly]

A frown had overcome Jake's features as he listened to her. He wasn't particularly mad, but he was upset that he was lumped in with other humans as a bad guy. "You are still human. You can't change that fact. The only thing that happened was a mutation due to the explosions. You may have a black eye, but you can't avoid the fact that you're still human."

Pheonix & Caspian

Caspian could feel Faina's hand on his shoulder but didn't complain or protest eince he could pretty much figure out why it was there. He knew this situation wasn't good and he wasn't sure if it would get better or worse. "Are you two seriously going to be at each others throats over the definition of human? If neither of you plan on hurting one another I don't see why this something to dwel on. There's no need to argue if humans are villans or not when the world's like this." he said calmly, hoping he hadn't said anything stupid.

Pheonix's eyes widened, "Beatings and bruises? Why would he hurt you like that?" she asked, suprised by such an unfamiliar topic.

Faina narrowed her eyes dangerously at him, desperately trying to keep herself in control. She bit back bitter laughter; what was control, anyway? Certainly not something that she had ever had. She tightened her hand slightly on Caspian's shoulder to tell him that he wasn't helping. "Maybe I don't want to be a human," she practically growled, her teeth gritted together. "Maybe I don't want to be a back-stabbing liar with no compassion." Suddenly she stopped, her eyes widening slightly. "In all reality, the radiation did me a favor. I don't have to be one of your kind."
