Celco paused when Cloud said he didn't care, but he didn't interrupt. Who cares if they all die? Celco thought, repeating Cloud's words in his mind. "I do..." Celco said after a moment of hesitation. Sure, all his father cared about was his sick sister and his mother didn't even have the courage to live on... But it just felt wrong to run away after being saved himself. It was hard to believe that Cloud didn't care at all, because it's common sense that people care. "And you do too. Or else you wouldn't have helped me and ran." It was a statement. Celco's expression remained as innocent and plain as ever. Ignoring Cloud's rather creepy laughs, Celco caught the look in Cloud's eyes when a gust of wind lifted his bothersome bangs. It was nothing else but Celco's capability to notice things that allowed him to catch the glimpse before the bangs settled over Cloud's eyes again. With only half of him there, Celco responded while thinking. "And why would I run? It's not you're fault if you're unwilling to go back and save people..." He glanced at the broken phone on the ground. Celco didn't get why Cloud was saying he's insane. If he's afraid of fire, it's quite reasonable and he couldn't get help anyway since his phone was broken. Suddenly, Celco wondered the same thing as Cloud did. How come I've never seen him before? Certainly, the demon child rumor did not reach him. "After all, you're phone is broken and you are afraid of flames." The laughs coming out of Cloud's mouth were a little up-setting, but Celco shrugged that away. So what's wrong with him laughing like that? "Plus, you did help me. And I have nowhere to run to, even if I wanted to move one more muscle anymore." Since the whole neighborhood was on fire, Celco knew that they'd have to walk for a while to reach the next un-burning house. There must be something that Cloud was hiding, or else he wouldn't be calling himself insane. Celco bit his mouth as he pondered about what Cloud had said. "Like everybody else." What was it about Cloud that made everyone run?
Sanity: 99% Condition: Probably the most sane person. (Please note that before the fire and all, he's basically like 99.99% sane)

Cloud blinked at the other's words, breathing an exaggerated sigh. "You're too nice for your own good," he stated flatly and sported his usual grin. "Well please do answer me one question, this fire has been going on for awhile, yes?" he questioned Celco. Knowing the boy was smart enough to pick the right answer, Cloud continued. "If this fire has been going on for at least the last fifteen minutes, then why haven't we heard any screams, shouts, sirens, e-t-c? he questioned. "Or am I the only one who thinks that it's a little odd that no one else has thought to call the paramedics or scream for help. The only person other than myself and the ghost of my mother would be you," Cloud added flatly. He reached down to grab the phone and quickly slipped the mobile device back into his pocket. He turned to face the flames that were now distant from their current location, now just small flickers of light. Personally, Cloud thought it was creepy. The fact that there was little to no sound other than their voices. Only other thing that could be heard was the small waves created by the water and the distant cackles of fire that could barely be heard.

By now Celcos eyes had adjusted to the darkness that was slowly edging away. Dawn shouldn't be too far off. Then with a frown, he realized the Clouds statements were true. They hadn't seen anyone or heard a human sound since they left... "Hmm... Maybe we didn't hear anyone. I was in a rush to get away and we are pretty far away now. Maybe some people did scream while we were busy running..." A pain of guilt rammed his chest hard at the thought of them two ignorant brats, saving their own lives and too wimped out to go back. Celcos certainly didn't want to go back, but something kept telling him to. "Als-" Celcos breath caught and finally some diverse and more dramatic expression came over his face. Cloud had mentioned the ghost of his mother... Surely, not him, too? Mind spinning, Celcos whipped around and squinted at the burning mess. "How in the world did this all start anyway?" He muttered, trying to calm his beating heart. However, he clenched his hands into fists at the realization that no red and blue lights were detected by his vision. "What's going on...?"

Cloud laughed lightly, an actual non-psychopathic laugh. "Pretty sure I would've heard it when you were taking your graceful swan-dive earlier," he informed Celco. "Then again, I might've been too focused on the fact that you might've broken your neck to have noticed," he quickly added and poked the younger's nose. Cloud began walking over to the small shore near the lake and crouched down. He began poking at the sand and drawing pictures. "Well, to answer your other question, it should be kind of obvious who started the fire. I might have just happened to stumble upon a large supply of gasoline and a box of matches. But the possibility of that is very low," the teen stated flatly, adding a flower to his picture. He couldn't draw well even if we wanted to, but honestly didn't care at all. Cloud thought his pictures looked beautiful.

Celco scowled and shrank back when Cloud reached up and tapped him lightly on the nose. It felt uncomfortable, being treated like a little kid. Swaying, the tiredness of all the running and waking up so early was catching up to him fast. However, he once again furrowed his brows at Cloud's words. When Cloud said that it was obvious who started it... Celco's mind reacted, sending rage through him. "What!?" Celco turned on Cloud. "You're telling me that you started this? On purpose?" The many lives... if there were anybody left in that neighborhood at all. Where did everyone go anyway? It seemed strange that only two out of the whole neighbor survived and ran out in time. It's true that many people could be away, but not the whole entire neighborhood. Celco could swear that he saw people strolling around just yesterday before his dad left to visit his sister. Celco re-focused, anger clearly shown on his face. He wasn't too bad with making his feelings clear. Celco's teeth set together, gritting. He stood there, clenching his fists and barely refraining from exploding and jumping onto Cloud to murder him... Well, not exactly murder. There must have been a reason. It was also Celco's strength to grasp himself and take control before his body made any movements. Brains before body. Just as Celco's foot dug into the dirt and seemed on the edge of ramming into Cloud, he looked down, eyes gleaming with anger none the less. "Why?" Celco asked, fists tightening ever still. It was a very simple question which contained only one word. Too Celco style.

"Man kid, you need to learn to use your ears," Cloud muttered and shot the other a glare. "I said might for a reason. I personally thought that it was obvious that the power lines caused it. Or were you not taking in your surroundings as we ran? Did you not see the knocked down power lines and the sparks flying from them?" he added, trying to cover up what he had said earlier. Sure, Cloud was in fact the one to start the fire, but the power lines being down was true. He knew the other could easily beat him to a pulp and wasn't dumb enough to know not to cover up the stupid mistake. "Maybe you should do what the pre-school teachers tell you to. Don't. Assume," the teen spat at him with a mask of anger. In actuality, Cloud was scared of the other boy and was ready to run in an instance if he decided to jump him. He has no muscle on him for god's sake, he could never hope beat the younger boy unless he had a weapon of some sort. The closest thing Cloud had to a weapon, was the smashed phone that would probably just piss him off even more if he tried to hit the other with it. Cloud finally decided to keep playing it off as he continued drawing towards the sand and added a sun and a few clouds to his picture.

Giving out a laugh of exasperation, Celco shook his head. "Right, of course, why hadn't I noticed? The powerlines." His words came out hard and cold. "The last time you said 'might' and 'point one percent chance', it was true, and you didn't contradict it." Celco said, pointing the fire example out with ease. "And just how exactly did the power lines fall, huh?" Celco knew he was blaming it on Cloud, for the burning mess, for the bruises he had gained. Of course, he really did not want to get into a fight due to the fall he just went through, but if this guy started the fire, Celco would not hesitate to make him guilty and regret it... Maybe not physically. Cloud spat at him, but Celco noted the hesitation. He decided to continue the sentence. "... Or jump to conclusions blah blah. My pre-school teacher never taught me that." It was true, and Celco only ever knew the sentence existed by other people saying it. It wasn't hard to figure out the meaning of the saying, though. However, ever after he figured it out, he found it way too true, so he tried to live by it as best as he could, and that best is quite successful. "Also, if you haven't realized, I'm not assuming things completely. I'm only basing events off of what you've told me, and so far, you said you might have started this whole-- thing." Celco forced himself to skip the swear just in time. "If I had concluded that you've started this fire, I wouldn't be talking with you right now and instead have already punched you in the face." A slight shuffling sound suddenly caught Celco's attention, and he stopped talking. His ready to attack this Cloud guy stance broke and he switched to a more agile one. Looking around, he decided that they'd been too loud and might have attracted predatory animals. After a while when nothing stirred, Celco let his guards down. He turned back towards Cloud. "Al-" His voice failed when he noticed three pairs of eyes glinting off of the moon's light, behind Cloud and his little picture. Swallowing nervously, Celco's hand fumbled for something to protect himself but found none. His heart pounded in his chest and felt like exploding. Silently, Celco tried to motion for Cloud not to move and to warn him of the danger. "Cloud..." He started, a whisper.

Cloud paused for a moment after he heard part of Celco's little rant, turning his head up to face him even if he was still crouched down in the sand. "Alright, I started the fire. So what. It's not as if they didn't deserve it..." he muttered. "Punch me, beat me to pulp, slap me, torture me, heh, you can even kill me if you want to," he added. "It honestly makes no difference to me,"Cloud whispered quickly. When he saw the signs Celco was giving him, he froze in place as the shuffling grew louder. He silently moved his hand on the ground and wrote the shallow word 'Run', hoping the other would understand that he'd try to play hero. Cloud mouthed the words 'I'll play hero while you play victim, so get out of here,' he grinned even though red flags were raising in his head as the seconds went by.

Celco paused, unwilling to have yet another person die. Sure, this person had started the fire, but he was also partly right. It was done, for whatever reasons, and he could deal with Cloud's whatsoever punishments later. It's not Celco's job to punish him anyway. The dark blue sky seemed to laugh at them, alone and helpless without any defense against whatever was closing in on them-- possibly bears, or wolves. Cloud was the only other person left, and he knew he'd just regret it even more if he left. Surely, the wolves or whatever can easily catch up to a stumbling blind human in a unfamiliar terrain. Breaths coming in short gasps, Celco knew running wouldn't work... but if they ate Cloud, they might be satisfied... Maybe that's what Cloud was trying to do- play hero and sacrifice. It was suicide, but he was just giving him permission to kill him. Celco dwindled, unable to decide what to do, but the second he did, he realized his mistake. The three pairs of eyes emerged from the darkness and Celco could make out the sleek bodies of wolves. Their eyes were filled with menace and hunger. The wolves moved slowly and carefully, just like trapping prey. Celco tried to imitate growling, and drew himself up to his full height, but they advanced. Celco gulped and before he knew what he was doing, his legs had carried his body-- he was running. To heck with everything, he's going to save himself first- that's what he seemed to be doing to others. The chilly wind seemed to lash out at him for no apparent reason as Celco coursed through the forest, not hearing any chasing sounds. The wolves had let him run. He might have seemed like a coward to Cloud, being saved and then ditching the savior to let himself be saved again. However, Celco's mind remained crystal clear, although not without a trace of panic. He had a plan.

"Man, what a pain,' Cloud muttered as he stood up and cracked his neck. "Hey Spots, Mittens-oh and Killer's here too!" he acted like a happy child, even though he had never seen the wolfs in his life. He just generated names in his mind to match the looks of their looks-mainly their coats. A low growl emitted from one of their throats as Cloud cautiously approached them, a dead rabbit he caught for food earlier in his hand. "How's the family been? Good? That's wonderful. How about we make a deal. You take this luscious rabbit here as well as a few fish from the lake, and I get to live," he added happily. "You know you want it~" the boy taunted, waving the corpse in front of their faces. The eyes of wolfs followed the dead animal hungrily, showing that they'd do anything for the needed food. That's exactly what Cloud wanted. He had saw which way Celco ran so he'd run so decided he'd meet up with him when he was finished here-if he survived, that is. "Let's play a game now," he smiled maniacally and threw the rabbit as far as he could and ran as soon as he saw the wolfs' eyes shift and run towards it. The howls of dying wolfs as they fought for the food clouded the area as a grin spread across Cloud's face. He finally ran as fast as he could to where he last saw Celco go into the woods.
